My Wife is a Hidden Big Shot-Chapter 146 - 140: Getting Old, Didn’t See Clearly
After helping them finish the registration process, Hannah cheerfully called out to the boy next to her, "Zachary, take the cart. Let’s head to the dorms! Sinclair, which dorm are you in? I didn’t see your room number."
Aurora Sinclair shook her head. "I’m not staying in the dorms."
Hannah paused for a moment, then asked with a smile, "Do you live nearby?"
Aurora Sinclair nodded.
"In that case, let Zachary wheel your things home for you."
A flicker of joy lit up in the eyes of the upperclassman called Zachary. "Sinclair, I’ll take it for you. This stuff is pretty heavy..."
"You all carry on with new student registration. I’ll take it from here." A pleasant male voice suddenly cut in, and everyone turned to look.
"Mr. Guthrie?" Hannah cried out in surprise.
Jensen Guthrie was the president of Arcadian University’s student council and was usually very busy. This was especially true at the start of the school year, when the council was swamped with new student orientation. He had no reason to be here.
"Long time no see, Miss Sinclair."
His arrival drew the eyes of countless girls. He was just too famous—a top student, handsome, and from a prominent family. He had even won national awards for his traditional paintings and was currently working with a professor on an ancient painting restoration project.
He was, quite simply, the undisputed ideal boyfriend for every girl in the entire school.
And now he had actually shown up here looking for a freshman, instantly putting all the girls on high alert.
All at once, their sharp gazes landed on Aurora Sinclair and her companions.
"Heading home? Let me see you out." Jensen Guthrie walked over to Zachary Warren and smoothly took the cart from his hands.
This move prompted quiet whispers among the girls.
"Who is that girl? Guthrie even came all the way over here to see her?"
"I heard Guthrie has a first love. Could she be the one?"
"It’s possible! She’s prettier than the campus belle."
...
Compared to the fervent admiration of the Arcadian University girls, Aurora Sinclair and her companions were rather indifferent toward Jensen Guthrie.
Leigh Miles was particularly wary of Jensen Guthrie and stated bluntly, "We don’t need your help. We can manage just fine."
But Jensen Guthrie didn’t release his grip. He smiled and said, "Young lady, this is quite heavy..."
"I’m stronger than you!" With that, Leigh Miles strode over to Jean Quincy and lifted her into the air with one arm.
Jensen Guthrie: ...
Hannah glanced at Jensen Guthrie’s expression and quickly jumped in to smooth things over. "Sinclair, this cart is school property. The gate guards usually don’t let students they don’t recognize take them off campus. It’s better to let Mr. Guthrie help you!"
Leigh Miles was about to say something else, but Jean Quincy pulled her back and replied with a smile, "In that case, we’ll be in your debt, Young Guthrie."
Leigh Miles pouted, clearly displeased. She ran to Aurora Sinclair’s side and pulled her a few steps away, pointedly putting distance between them and Jensen Guthrie as if he were carrying the plague.
Her guarded behavior left Jensen Guthrie feeling a little helpless. He honestly had no idea how he’d managed to offend her.
Having watched the drama unfold, Hannah saw they were about to leave and hurriedly shouted, "Sinclair, don’t forget to be back here at four PM sharp. Our department is having a small welcome ceremony."
Aurora Sinclair nodded in acknowledgement.
Just as the group was about to head out, they saw Benjamin Morgan riding toward them on a bicycle.
He wore an unbuttoned white lab coat over a white dress shirt, paired with the standard-issue black trousers of the Morgan Family.
He wore a pair of rimless glasses on his handsome face. The wind tousled his soft bangs, and his expression was cool and detached, giving him an austere and rational air.
He looked every bit the big shot from one of the science departments, radiating the unmistakable aura of an academic prodigy.
His arrival instantly captivated many of the freshmen girls present, who once again started whispering excitedly.
"Oh my god! Which department is that guy in? He’s so handsome and has such an austere vibe!"
"You don’t know him? He’s Doctor C from the College of Physics, Professor Greene’s assistant."
"Are all the academic prodigies this good-looking nowadays?"
...
Benjamin Morgan wasn’t used to being stared at by so many girls. He pushed up the glasses on his nose, stopped his bike in front of Aurora Sinclair, and said stiffly, "Sinclair, Professor Greene is looking for you. Get on, quickly..."
He propped the bike up with one foot and swung the back around, a move that triggered another wave of gasps.
The moment Leigh Miles saw Benjamin Morgan, her eyes lit up. "Aurora, go on! We’ll get this stuff home..."
She had been racking her brain for a way to keep Jensen Guthrie away from Aurora. Mr. C’s arrival was a godsend. Overjoyed, Leigh Miles gave Aurora a little push, urging her to hurry up and get on the bike.
Aurora Sinclair nodded, trotted forward a couple of steps, and hopped onto the back rack of the bicycle.
Her posture was remarkably bold. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Jean Quincy suddenly cringed. With a helpless look on her face, she asked, "Leigh, has Aurora ever been on the back of a bike before?"
"Of course! My master used to give her rides on the village chief’s bike," Leigh Miles said, waving at Aurora Sinclair.
Watching their retreating figures, Jean Quincy couldn’t help but feel that a classic scene straight out of a campus romance movie had just been completely ruined.
All along the way, Benjamin Morgan was the target of countless stares. His back suddenly felt hot with pressure. He tensed his expression and began to pedal faster and faster.
A moment ago, his only thought was to get her to the lab building as quickly as possible. He’d completely forgotten how intimate it looked for a guy to give a girl a ride on his bike across campus.
’If the Master saw this,’ he thought, ’I’d definitely be transferred out of Kingsford to go find Alpha.’
Just as he was thinking this, an acquaintance caught up from behind, greeting him with a smile, "Yo, Mr. C, is this your little sister?"
Benjamin Morgan froze for a second. Inwardly, he was delighted and quickly nodded.
After that, every student and teacher who recognized him asked the exact same question the moment they saw him: "Is that your little sister?"
Benjamin Morgan gradually began to feel that something was off. ’Do Aurora Sinclair and I really look that much like siblings?’ he wondered.
***
Benjamin Morgan didn’t take Aurora Sinclair to the lab building. Instead, he led her straight to the chancellor’s office to apply for a second major.
Arcadian University’s chancellor, Clarence Osborne, had been a student of Cassius Morgan and was considered a member of the Morgan Faction. He was naturally thrilled at the prospect of Aurora Sinclair joining the College of Physics—which the Morgan Family controlled—but he couldn’t show his hand openly. Thus, he had coordinated with Chester Greene behind the scenes.
When he saw Benjamin Morgan arrive with Aurora Sinclair, his face creased into a broad smile. He couldn’t wait to ask, "Sinclair, are you here to declare Physics as your second major?"
Aurora Sinclair nodded.
Clarence Osborne’s eyes lit up. He pulled an application form and a course schedule for the physics engineering program from his drawer and placed them on the desk for Aurora Sinclair to sign.
The schedule was packed solid with classes, even more than a high school schedule. Crucially, it left no time for Aurora Sinclair to attend the required courses for her archaeology major.
Benjamin Morgan glanced at it, stopped Aurora Sinclair’s hand as she was about to sign, and said lightly, "Aurora, there are too many classes. Let’s apply for a different major."
Clarence Osborne panicked when he heard this. "Didn’t we agree on Physics? Why the change of heart?"
But Benjamin Morgan pushed up his glasses and said coldly, "Aurora’s primary major is Archaeology. The classes on this schedule conflict with all of her archaeology courses. How is she supposed to study?"
"Eh? Is that so? Let me see... Oh my, I’m getting old, I didn’t see that clearly..." Clarence Osborne gave an embarrassed laugh.
He then pulled another course schedule from the drawer, this one with half the number of classes.
Benjamin Morgan took the schedule and glanced at it. Seeing that this was the one his master had originally drawn up, he finally allowed Aurora Sinclair to sign it.
Clarence Osborne said with a regretful look, "Sinclair, our university allows students to transfer majors in the second semester of their freshman year. If you change your mind, you can always..."
Benjamin Morgan suddenly looked up at him. The warning in his gaze successfully made him swallow the rest of his words, and he once again laughed awkwardly.
Not long after the two left the chancellor’s office, Chester Greene received a call from Clarence Osborne.
He instantly burst out laughing. "HAHAHA... You guys can stop the chase. Aurora has already registered for her second major."
"How could that be?" The professor from the College of Chemical Engineering didn’t believe it, immediately jumping out of his car and running forward to snatch Chester Greene’s phone.
"Mr. Greene, you’re the slyest fox of them all! That was a masterclass in misdirection."
"Haha... You’re too kind, you’re too kind..."
