Chapter 62: Chapter 59: Just Settle In

Leigh Miles stopped crying.

’Senior Sister said it’s fine, so it must be fine!’

Aurora Sinclair took a pack of tissues from her pocket, pulled one out to wipe Leigh’s eyes, and asked, "How much do we owe?"

Leigh thought for a moment, counting on her fingers. "For Senior Sister’s medicine over the years, plus Master’s liquor money... all in all, it adds up to fifty million..."

Aurora Sinclair froze for a second, a hint of surprise in her eyes. Leigh’s face fell as she pointed to several cloth bags by the sofa. "The medicine in the bags is three million. So now we owe the Verdant School fifty-three million..."

"Mm..." Aurora Sinclair nodded calmly.

Nearby, Beta Morgan glanced silently at his boss. ’When is the "doting father" going to step in and pay off his "daughter’s" debt?’

But the "doting father" only offered a reminder, "Aurora, those crafts of yours are very valuable..."

Aurora Sinclair shook her head. "I can’t. Master said I’m not allowed to sell anything that isn’t from our sect."

Leigh rolled her eyes in frustration. ’It’s because of these old-fashioned rules that the Radiant Void Sect is so poor...’

"Senior Sister, didn’t you make them?"

"The craft’s lineage isn’t from the Radiant Void Sect," Aurora Sinclair said seriously.

Leigh argued back, "But Master Stone has already accepted you as his Closed-door Disciple."

"Mm... my status is different."

Leigh was speechless. ’Why is my Senior Sister so stubborn!’

Nearby, Beta Morgan and Dean Morgan were frozen in place, stunned by the sisters’ conversation. They stared at Aurora Sinclair with fiery gazes.

’Oh my god! Aurora Sinclair actually made those Master-level crafts?’ 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

They turned to look at their boss, who was perfectly calm, as if he had known all along. But he remained unfazed, even leaning over to pour Aurora Sinclair a cup of tea.

Beta Morgan couldn’t help but ask, "Aurora, all those things you gave our boss for safekeeping... did you make them yourself?"

Aurora Sinclair nodded. "Mm..."

"Senior Sister, why did you give your things to outsiders?" Leigh asked, astonished.

"They’re friends."

A hint of embarrassment appeared on Leigh’s face. She bent down, pulled a large glass bottle out of one of the cloth bags, and placed it on the coffee table, rubbing her hands together sheepishly. "Mr. Dixon, this one is more effective than that other one..."

Beta Morgan’s eyes widened again. He was the first to pick up the glass bottle, exclaiming, "Can I have some of this?"

Leigh pulled out another, smaller glass bottle and set it on the table. "That medicine only treats internal injuries. It won’t work on external ones. This bottle should be enough for your injury."

Hearing this, Beta Morgan’s brow furrowed.

’How does she know I have an external injury?’

"You know medicine?"

"A little. But I have a sharp nose; I can smell even the faintest scent of blood. Yours is a fresh wound, no more than three days old."

Aurora Sinclair looked at Beta Morgan curiously and asked softly, "Was it that person who injured you, too?"

Beta Morgan glanced at his boss, who was sipping his tea silently, and replied awkwardly, "...Um... yes, but it’s not very serious."

The external injury was from accidentally hurting himself during punitive physical training for disobeying one of Alvin Morgan’s orders.

Aurora Sinclair nodded. "My Junior Sister’s medicine is very effective." Beside her, Leigh’s cheeks flushed, and she snuggled against Aurora’s arm like a kitten.

Beta Morgan’s mind was reeling once again. He felt he’d had a few too many shocks today and was in desperate need of some fast-acting heart medication.

「The Sinclair Apartments」

Meanwhile, Butler Sinclair, looking grim, walked into Master Sinclair’s bedroom holding an unsigned manila envelope.

The envelope bore only three words: For Preston Sinclair.

There was no other information.

After entering the room, Butler Sinclair dismissed the maids with a wave of his hand and closed the door securely. Only then did he say cautiously, "Family Head, a letter has arrived from Master Aerion!"

Master Sinclair’s expression was unreadable as he reached out and took the envelope.

After opening it, he found a very unusual piece of stationery inside. The back of the paper was printed with a complex pattern, like some sort of special script, that looked ancient and mysterious.

Butler Sinclair brought over a small urn with a flame burning inside.

After reading the letter, Master Sinclair’s mood brightened considerably. He tossed the letter and envelope into the urn. "Quickly, have Tanner prepare another guest room. Aurora’s junior martial brother and sister are here."

When Aurora Sinclair returned to the apartment with Leigh Miles and Titus Miles, they were met with a warm welcome.

Leigh had been very nervous, afraid her senior sister’s family would dislike them, just like that old woman before. She had already mentally prepared herself to keep a low profile and not cause any trouble.

But as soon as they walked in, she was startled by a neat line of maids.

"Welcome home, Second Miss, and to her junior martial brother and sister—"

’What is this...’

"You must be my little niece’s junior sister, right? A pleasure to finally meet you..." Tanner Sinclair grinned, showing all his teeth, and shook Leigh’s hand in delight.

Behind him, Master Sinclair shot him a dissatisfied glare, as if Tanner had stolen his spotlight. Then he beckoned amiably to Leigh and Titus.

"You must be tired. Come, come and rest..."

Leigh was flattered and flustered, looking helplessly at Aurora Sinclair. "Senior Sister..."

"That’s Grandfather and Butler Sinclair. This is my youngest uncle," Aurora Sinclair introduced the three men, whose enthusiasm was a bit overwhelming.

Leigh beamed and, pulling Titus along, politely bowed to the three of them in greeting, just as Aurora had done when she first returned.

Master Sinclair’s face bloomed into a delighted smile. ’Master Aerion’s disciples are so well-mannered.’

After the greetings, Leigh took off the bundle she was carrying. From the large bundle, she selected a smaller cloth pouch. She untied it, revealing seven or eight stalks of wild ginseng scattered inside, their roots still caked with fresh soil.

Judging by the shape of the ginseng, each stalk was clearly very old and had immense medicinal value. Not even the seven great, powerful families of Kingsford would have a collection of so many stalks of wild ginseng.

The expressions on Master Sinclair’s and Butler Sinclair’s faces changed. They shot a look at Tanner Sinclair. Tanner turned to the other servants in the room and said, "Everyone, you’re dismissed!"

The servants schooled their features, kept their heads down, and filed out of the living room in an orderly fashion, not daring to look.

Leigh rummaged through the pouch and picked out the two oldest stalks with the most perfect shapes. "Grandfathers, these two are best for infusing wine..."

Butler Sinclair glanced at Master Sinclair before carefully accepting the ginseng. He smiled and replied, "Good child. You’re very thoughtful."

Then, Leigh pulled a large glass bottle from another bag and handed it to Tanner Sinclair. "Youngest Uncle, this is more effective than the medicine you’re using."

"You... How did you know?" Tanner Sinclair nearly choked on his own saliva.

Leigh gave him a brilliant smile. "I smelled it. The topical medicine I gave Senior Sister is for emergencies. It can’t be used as a regular treatment."

Tanner Sinclair’s eyes lit up, and he hugged the glass bottle tightly.

Sitting on the sofa, Master Sinclair concealed the surprise in his eyes and said calmly, "Master Aerion sent me a letter. You can rest easy and stay here. Next week, I’ll have someone transfer your student files to Kingsford."

Leigh was startled and asked anxiously, "Sinclair, did my master say when he’s coming back?"

"He said his return is uncertain, so just settle in here. Tanner, hurry and take them to see their rooms."

"But..."

Tanner Sinclair immediately grabbed the bags from the floor, cutting off Leigh’s question. "Right, right! I’ve prepared super cool space-themed rooms for you, right next to my little niece’s. Let’s go take a look..."

Aurora Sinclair glanced at Master Sinclair, nodded, and led Leigh and Titus toward the second floor.

Master Sinclair breathed a sigh of relief and said softly to Butler Sinclair beside him, "This junior sister is much sharper than Aurora."

Butler Sinclair glanced at the wild ginseng and nodded.

"Contact the eldest and have him arrange a school for Aurora’s junior sister."

"And the little boy?"

Master Sinclair pondered for a moment. "Let’s hire a private tutor for him at home."

「Oasis Villa」

Hailey Gordon glanced at her husband as he hung up the phone and asked sarcastically, "So late. What instructions did your old man have for you this time?"

Linton Sinclair, dressed in silk pajamas, stood up, went to the table, picked up a pack of cigarettes, and stuck one in his mouth.

Seeing his reaction, Hailey Gordon sneered, "Hmph, it’s about that little monster again, isn’t it? I really don’t know what kind of spell she’s cast on your father for him to dote on her all day. He should stop and think about who the real pillar of this family is."

"That’s enough, just drop it!" Linton Sinclair took a drag from his cigarette, not wanting to listen to her nagging.

"Drop it? If I don’t speak up, our branch of the family will lose its standing! Your dad is planning to take back all of Thomas Sinclair’s shares, and now he’s living long-term at Tanner Sinclair’s house. Just you watch! Sooner or later, this family will belong to Tanner, and you’ll just be working yourself to death like a fool..."

"That’s enough! My fourth brother isn’t interested in the Sinclair Family!" Linton Sinclair threw down his cigarette and roared.

"Hmph, you’re the only one who thinks that. If he’s not interested, why did he become the little monster’s guardian? He’s a lot smarter than you are..."

Linton Sinclair clenched his fists, glared at her for a long moment, then snatched the cigarette pack and stormed out of the bedroom.

Hailey Gordon was furious too. He always acted like this whenever she brought up the Sinclairs.

She was so angry she grabbed a pillow from the bed and hurled it to the floor, screaming, "Linton Sinclair, you’re a worthless coward! I must have been blind to fall for you..."
