Not once in Nova’s life did she ever think she would like someone to feed her.
Was she a child? No.
Could she feed herself? Yes.
But if Yohuali is the one to feed her, she was a puddle in the ground, a puppy rolling over for belly rubs, a princess in all the ways he kept treating her.
Nova moaned softly, eyes closing as the creamy sweetness of mango burst across her tongue. In her world, they’d never tasted so good. It was either the lack of pesticides, the fact they were grown organically on Isla de Tayun, or the man feeding the fruit to her. Most probably both.
Yoa swept his thumb along the corner of her mouth, then brought it to his lips, sucking the mango’s sweetness away with a gaze that burned straight through her, never breaking eye contact. The scorching heat in his eyes, the way he looked at her like she was the most important thing in this world, sent a flutter through her chest she couldn’t contain.
Nova’s gaze hooded at the sight, her mouth growing dry even after the refreshing mango. "So..." Her voice dropped to a purr, lips curling slightly. She gave him a come-hither look, slow and deliberate, all heat and promise, none of it innocent. "You wanted me all to yourself..."
Yoa’s eyes crinkled with a knowing smile as he leaned into her space, hands braced on either side of her hips, his warmth wrapping around. The fire crackled beside them, and above the moon chased away the sun, and beckoned the stars to scatter across the darkening sky beyond the treehouse.
"I did.. Are you still hungry?"
"Famished," Nova purred, breathless as he invaded her senses. His face inched closer, like a predator savouring the moment. A smirk tugged at Yoa’s lips. He knew exactly what she meant. She was hungry for him.
Yoa reached for her hand, his fingers curling around hers. "Come," he whispered, voice husky and low. "The stars are waiting."
Huh?
He pulled away suddenly, breaking that heated moment where he could have pounced on her and claimed her right then and there. The ache and need coiled deeper inside of her, but she pushed it aside
His palm was rough against her own, and it grounded her as he led her up the staircase, past the balconies until a ladder came into view. He tugged her forward, so she took the steps first, climbing up to the third level of the treehouse. She stopped just below the ceiling and Yoa climbed over her, caging her against the wood so he could push aside a hidden door. There was a hidden latch, and it was like a loft door that was well concealed almost magically.
Nova’s breath whooshed out of her as the sky stared back at her, and her limbs moved, pulled forward like the stars were calling her. She barely registered the rooftop platform they were on, completely absorbed with the view. The canopy above had parted just enough to unveil the stars beyond. It was like a private viewing.
The night opened around them like a dream. Above, the sky stretched wide and endless, stars scattered in silver clusters. The platform was soft beneath her feet, layered with cushions and hides, a nest of warmth amidst the surprisingly cool jungle air.
Around the edges of the platform, wind chimes made of shells and carved wood swayed gently in the breeze, releasing a soft, tinkling song—like the jungle’s lullaby.
Fireflies drifted around the air like fairy lights circling them.
"Wow," Nova whispered in awe as her gaze swept along the platform, the treetops, and the fireflies until her eyes stopped on him, taking in the sight of the man closing the distance between them. She watched him, unable to move, not wanting to move.
The sky was enchantingly bright beyond him, like a mist of silvery-blue were the backdrop to the striking stars twinkling back at them while the forest below was almost pitch black. The night sky cast them in a bluish-silver hue while his eyes shone golden, the red spreading out like lava.
Yoa didn’t speak as he pulled her into him, one hand finding the small of her back, the other slipping around her waist. Nova’s breath hitched at heat sparked from his touch and knees went weak. They actually weakened like spaghetti! She thought that was some bizarre thing that only ever happened in the movies or books.
Nope. It was real. And she refrained from swooning as his strong arms held her up until she regained control of her legs again. That damned sexy smirk though was going to finish her off. He knew exactly what he was doing to her. But as their bodies met in the heated silence, she could feel how she affected him.
Their hearts beat to a tune only they know, their breaths in sync as the wind chimes stirred, offering a soft tune into the night air. The fireflies drifted in lazy spirals, catching the moonlight as they circled the rooftop like glowing embers.
They began to move, slowly, instinctively, their gazes locked, the air between them heating, fire crackling and rising to the surface of their skin. Their hips swayed side to side, their bodies drawn together, finding their own rhythm beneath the stars.
His chin rested lightly against her temple. Her fingers curled at his chest. Everything else fell away. All their worries, the fight, the Nokari bond, it didn’t matter. All that mattered was this moment right here and now, and with Yoa.
"Who knew you could dance," Nova whispered, her voice light in jest.
Yoa chuckled, pressing her even firmer against him. "Do you like to dance?"
Nova’s lips curled up and she lifted her head to gaze up at him. "I do. There’s usually music. But right now, here with you, its perfect. I love it."
Yoa lowered his face, eyes burning gold in the firefly light, and dancing his nose with hers. Nova’s toes curled at the heat in those eyes, and how teasing this small act was. Her chin tilted up slightly, lips brushing against his. Yoa pulled back slightly so their mouths barely grazed each other. His teeth nipped at her bottom lip playfully, the slight pain making a soft gasp leave her as heat licked down body and pooled in her lower belly.
Yoa played with her a little more, teasing her as they swayed, their lips and teeth grazing each other, their breaths growing heavier. Their hips slowly began to grind, and her hands slid along his chest and neck and into the back of his hair from where he hunched over her. The fireflies coiled around them, dancing along their skin, wrapping around them like a golden ribbon joining them together.
Then like an electric shock, neither of them could keep teasing each other. The bond urged them to merge. Their lips that had grazed each other pressed firmer, needing more. Nova’s lips parted, allowing his tongue to meet hers with desperate strokes. Her hands fisted his hair and a low groan rumbled into a growl as his fingers slid down gripping her backside.
Nova could feel all of him. Every single inch. A shiver of delight rippled through her, and goosebumps peppered her shoulders and arms.
Yoa lifted her up and she automatically wrapped her legs around his waist, their movements growing urgent. The fireflies still danced around them, offering them more space as he strode towards the hides and cushions. He pulled back, their breaths mingling. "Do you want this?" He asked, even as the bond tugged and shimmered beneath their skin, licking flames along it, igniting them and their souls.
"Of course I do!" She gasped, shocked he’d even ask, yet, not quite so. He was a gentleman and he’d been brought up in the wild. Well minus the part where he’d lifted her skirt up when they first met. But now she knew him better, she could tell it had been nothing sexual and more curious. She had been wearing clothes that nobody wore on the island and didn’t look like she came from Tayun.
Nova’s fingers tightened on him as she felt her world tip upside down as he lowered her to the ground and onto the hides. They stared at each other, his heated gazed seeking out hers, searching, ensuring she wanted this.
"Are you sure?" He asked, needing Nova to be absolutely certain about this, even if he could tell already what her answer would be. There was still that small chance she could back out of it. His little mouse wasn’t from here, and it might be fun her living here now with him, but there was some doubt, hesitancy that his Serakai might grow bored.
As though Nova could sense his concerns, Nova slid her hand along his jaw. He turned his cheek, so his lips grazed the palm of her hand and inhaled deeply, eyes closing briefly before landing on hers again. "If there’s one thing I’m sure of... It’s this. Us," she whispered. "I might not be from here, but wherever you are... that’s where I belong."
