Myriad Devils-Chapter 289: A restless heart

Behind the secrets that obscured the Heavens & Earth, separating the world of otherworldly creatures and their Lords, only the World Cooking Lord did not care enough to present himself in this battle of fortuity.

The Realm Heaven was, but a small board atop the table, which was known to otherworldly creatures as the Jade Vine Pure World.

Sitting around this table were the Dimension Lords, observing all the happenings that took place within the Realm Heaven.

Amongst them, Sapphire Heaven held the most prominent aura.

The beautiful moon elf was adorned in the most resplendent ornaments, as one would expect from the creator of the Sapphire Heaven Company.

This company controlled the Dark Gold Sand and Dark Gold of billions upon billions of Cosmos Forgers and Realm Fathers throughout the ancient city.

After all, it was much safer to keep one’s wealth in the bank, especially when rogues sought to plunder and loot from corpses more than anything else in this world.

And in the event of one’s death, one’s fortune can be inherited by the next in line of one’s lineage.

The Sapphire Heaven Company was even more prosperous than Fantasy Jade Pavilion.

’I am angered,’ Mystifying Jade Fantasy pursed her lips, deep in thought, ’I am angered, so why...’

Her starry, cosmic eyes revealed a world draped over by a pinkish hue. They were soft and enticing as she attempted to understand the Realm Father dominating the Purity Realm Heaven.

Nearby, Savage Blood Emperor smiled coldly.

He had pupilless pitch-black eyes and short, spiky pale white hair.

Coupled with his blood-colored skin, rather than a beautiful elven creature, he appeared to be a bewitching, slaughter demon.

His cold laughter thundered across the landscape, "I want to see how your Fantasy Jade Pavilion plans to repay us for this mess."

In his fury, the aura surrounding him shattered the world’s fabric.

Elshen had effectively countered the revival method of these otherworldly creatures by trapping their souls within his Banner of Void Spirits.

"Why react like that? I’ll have him return the souls, that’s all." Though Mystifying Jade Fantasy muttered this under her breath, there was not the usual calmness in her voice when she said this.

The Lord of Black & White had long hair that reached his waist.

Half his hair was white, and the other half was black. The pupil in his right eye was pale, whereas the one on his left was darker than the empty void of the cosmic space.

He gently shook his head, seeing through Mystifying Jade Fantasy, but he remained silent as the Mystic Profundity Matriarch voiced her thoughts.

"I’m sure that you’re not so delusional, right?"

The Matriarch was a woman with a phoenix crown atop her head, and her face was covered by a thin veil that revealed hints of the fairest of beauties and a pair of stunning hazel eyes.

"He’s made it quite clear that he thinks of himself as more powerful than us." The Mystic Profundity Matriarch found those words hard to get out, even though she had just heard them herself.

Nonetheless, her gaze contained hints of mockery as she observed Mystifying Jade Fantasy.

"You’ve done well relying on your Father every time. I’m sure that you two had exchanged many secrets together as well, and yet you could not even see the wolf hidden in sheep’s clothing." The Matriarch concluded.

Aum!

Enlightened Yellow Dust did not appear as old as one may assume. He was a young man with a serene face, charming and expressive eyes, and was bald.

Though he appeared to be the most plainly dressed, his mannerisms and aura were the most attention-grabbing.

"Now isn’t the time to fester disunity between us."

Enlightened Yellow Dust admitted, "His sudden burst of strength was unexpected, and though it is difficult to conceptualize, when he acquires the Heavenly Purifying Lotus, he’ll become a threat even when he confronts an Entry-Level Dimension Lord."

"But I do wonder, with the power he’s revealed so far, even with the Supreme Top-Tier cosmic treasure, where does he get this confidence to face all of us from? He hasn’t revealed a principle of Light either, so he isn’t attempting to establish a dimension either..."

"More than that, he has betrayed your trust as well, so why does he still think that the Ancient Lord will not intervene in this matter? Or is it that he’s confident in facing the Secondary-Level as well?" Saying so, he stared directly at Mystifying Jade Fantasy.

In throwing such a question out there, it was clear from his mannerisms that he held some doubts toward Mystifying Jade Fantasy.

However, he only threw the question in the air because it essentially made no sense.

There was no way Mystifying Jade Fantasy would accept losing a Supreme Top-Tier cosmic treasure, much less go out of her way and prevent the City Lord from intervening, and assist Realm Father Elshen in plundering it.

"Enlightened Yellow Dust," she frowned deeply and said, "Are you doubting the city lord’s stance when it comes to outsiders who confront our united alliance?"

"No one dares to doubt the city lord’s stance, but we do doubt yours." Sapphire Heaven spoke up, voicing their thoughts, "After all, you Dark Elves are very adept at breaking oaths..."

Who is to say that you would not stand against us simply due to your wants and desires?

It would not be the first time for the people of your lineage... this was the true meaning behind Sapphire Heaven’s words.

Sighing in defeat, Mystifying Jade Fantasy calmly stated, "I have no intention of betraying our allegiance."

Glancing at Sapphire Heaven, she slowly said, "In the grander picture, Realm Father Elshen is not worth a seat at the operating table of an ancient city, so I will not be giving it up simply for a Dark Elf’s inherent lasciviousness... does that make you feel any better?"

Shrugging their shoulders, Sapphire Heaven gently said, "I was only attempting to look at things from another perspective. After all, it is difficult to understand what this Elshen is thinking."

The Lord of Black & White looked into the Realm Heaven, his gaze peering at the Realm Father who had drawn all of their gazes.

"Merely a Realm Father, but capable of being the center of the world, even in the world of Lords... so this is the favored one, a Realm Father with an abstract soul. How interesting." His words caused Enlightened Yellow Dust to nod approvingly.

Savage Blood Emperor scornfully scoffed, whereas the Matriarch knitted her delicate brows.

Indifferent to all worldly matters, Sapphire Heaven maintained an expressionless persona.

Mystifying Jade Fantasy gritted her teeth. She did not believe that Elshen was powerful enough to confront all Dimension Lords, but somewhere in her heart, she had a foreboding feeling.

’There’s still father... there’s still father...’ No matter how she reasoned with herself, it clearly did not put her heart at ease.
