Mythical Monster Evolution-Chapter 42: An Unknown Individual
Chapter 42: An Unknown Individual
[Growth Stage - New Born 1/6 | 0/20,000]
Kai looked at the amount of experience needed to level up and sighed.
20,000 for the very first Growth Stage. He could only imagine what it would look like later on. Nevertheless, after a few minutes of playing around in the Elven Forest, Kai definitely liked this new evolution more than the previous one.
For one, all his previous skills worked perfectly and without the slightest issue, which had been his main concern previously.
The slight coat of spiritual energy over his body was also great because every time he used a skill, the Monster Energy used would be replaced almost instantly. It was even better than the cultivation method. However, the only problem was that it took a much larger amount of time to recuperate spiritual energy.
About five times the amount of time that it would take compared to the Cultivation Technique Kai had inherited.
Apart from that, it was pretty decent. Kai was still unable to speak the Human Tongue, which was a little annoying, but that was the only negative about this transformation. He already felt on a similar level as before, especially with the skill he received from being a [Dragonic Spirit] newborn.
[Dragonic Mind]
[Type: Passive]
[Description: You are able to slightly influence the minds of weaker beings, ordering them or influencing them into doing things they wouldn’t necessarily do. Those beings are also not required to understand the Dragon Tongue to be influenced.]
Kai was actually on the way to try out this skill on a nearby monster.
It was a raccoon lookalike. It wasn’t paying much attention to its surroundings. However, as soon as it caught a glance of Kai, it stood and began to run as fast as possible.
’It’s running away when I’m only a newborn?’ Kai smirked. ’I definitely made the right choice.’
"Stop moving," Kai called out in Dragon Tongue.
Then, within milliseconds, the raccoon stopped in its tracks. It almost looked like it froze in place, unable to move a muscle no matter how hard it tried.
Kai crawled in its direction with sparkling eyes.
This skill was much better than he had anticipated. He only needed to test it on stronger beings to see just how effective it would be.
He knew the effect would be a lot worse, but he was still interested.
As Kai got closer to the raccoon, he continued trying out his skill.
"Turn around and face me."
The raccoon immediately did so, moving almost like a robot.
"Get closer to me."
Kai smirked as the raccoon complied.
This skill was amazing not only because of its effects but also because it did not cost any Monster Energy to use. Kai guessed that this skill was related to the Blue Dragon Bloodline since it was connected to controlling the minds of others, which was basically one of the many fields of hallucination.
After playing with the raccoon for some more time, Kai decided to kill it swiftly, obtaining a meager 100 experience points.
"Isla, should I get to the second Growth Stage before attempting the Trial of Monsters?"
Isla, who had simply watched the scene unfold before her, finally came out of Kai’s monster core.
"It shouldn’t have any effects. The Trial of Monsters adapts itself to the strength of the monster. It’s solely to test and push the potential of all monsters; that’s why it’s so great and essential for monsters to become stronger."
Kai nodded, as this made a lot of sense.
"I guess it’s time to head back to the Elven Kingdom."
However, since Kai had changed his appearance and evolution, no one would recognize him as the young drake who had saved their king’s son just a few days ago. He would have to make his way to the World Tree very carefully, making sure no one would see him.
Though, with [Shadow Cloak], Kai wasn’t worried in the least.
But then, just as Kai was about to depart for the Elven Kingdom, the air suddenly became heavy and dense. The leaves began floating from the ground, ramming themselves into Kai’s face.
A man stepped out from the shadows, appearing before both Isla and Kai.
"Kai, don’t move," Isla immediately said mentally. "This man, something is strange about him."
Before them, a man cloaked in black clothes had stepped out from the shadows. It was impossible to discern anything about him. His face was covered, his entire body was covered... His strength was also impossible to discern. When Kai looked at him, it was as if the man before them did not exist in the first place. He couldn’t feel anything coming from him.
"A monster that can evolve into creatures I have never seen before that’s being accompanied by a fairy," a cold voice echoed in the forest. "Who are you two exactly?"
The man did not make a move. However, it was clear that if Kai and Isla stayed quiet, nothing good would come out of this situation.
"I have been observing you for a few days, and really, I think you two have accomplished things that practically no one in this realm will ever achieve."
’This realm... is he from a higher realm?’
It would make sense based on his demeanor.
"So, I will make my questions a little clearer for the two of you. How can you evolve into creatures that are completely unheard of?" He asked, looking at Kai before looking at Isla. "And how do you even exist?"
Kai wasn’t sure what to say to this man, who he knew nothing about.
For all he knew, he could be linked with the Order and everything that had happened back in the Corrupted Tree would have been useless.
His fake death would have been for naught. They would send someone again after them.
"Who are you?" Kai suddenly asked, dismissing his questions. "I don’t particularly like answering questions from unknown individuals who seem extremely powerful."
The man had no reaction to the disrespect from Kai and said, "I am..."
