Chapter 57 - 57: Capturing the Three-Tails!
[On the Screen -]
[Kisame, despite the grievous wounds inflicted by Killer Bee just moments before, began healing rapidly, the flesh knitting back together at a speed visible to the naked eye. He shed his Akatsuki cloak, a disdainful smirk playing on his lips.
"I'm the type who only gets stronger the longer the fight drags on! You're finished!"
With swift hand seals, Kisame unleashed a powerful jutsu: "Water Style: Grand Exploding Water Wave!"
In an instant, a colossal dome of water, seemingly miles across, materialized out of nowhere, trapping Killer Bee and his mentor, Sabu, within its watery prison.
Immediately afterward, Kisame fused completely with his sentient sword, Samehada. His form shifted, becoming a monstrous, shark-like humanoid creature radiating immense chakra. In this state, he plunged back into the water towards Killer Bee.
Within the aquatic environment, Kisame held every advantage. His fused form moved with predatory grace, relentlessly draining Killer Bee's Tailed Beast chakra. Overwhelmed and depleted, Killer Bee was slammed heavily onto the watery floor of the dome. The battle concluded decisively with Kisame's victory.]
The footage ended there.
Waves of shock rippled through Kumogakure and across the entire shinobi world watching the screen.

Kumogakure (Village Hidden in the Clouds),
The Fourth Raikage slammed his fist down. "Damn it! Bee... he was actually defeated!"
Killer Bee, despite his defeat being shown, struck a defiant pose, rapping weakly.
"Bakayaro! Konoyaro! Damn that fish-face Kisame, yeah! Using cheap water tricks, he played me! Oh yeah!"
Seeing Bee still attempting to rap after such a loss, the Raikage zapped him with a controlled burst of Lightning Release chakra. "If you're not going to use your brain in a fight, donate it!"
A roared. "Couldn't you see you were outmatched in that water dome?! Why didn't you prioritize retreating with Sabu instead of getting yourself captured?! You could have been killed, idiot!"
Killer Bee opened his mouth to argue, but meeting the Raikage's furious gaze, he wisely shut up. 'Sabu is my inspiration, yeah! A beacon on my artistic path, fool! How could I just leave him behind?! '. He thought defiantly.

Konoha (Village Hidden in the Leaf),
Sarutobi Hiruzen and the Konoha elders watched in stunned silence as the supposedly 'perfect' Jinchuriki, the master of the Eight-Tails, was captured by a single Akatsuki member.
Utatane Koharu murmured, "Killer Bee was thought to be perhaps the strongest Jinchuriki, one who had mastered his Tailed Beast... yet Akatsuki captured him."
Mitokado Homura added grimly, "The individual members of Akatsuki clearly possess Kage-level strength."
Nara Shikaku frowned. "And we still don't know the true power or identity of their leader. That remains the most terrifying unknown."
Kakashi sighed, a hint of professional envy in his voice. "Getting stronger the longer you fight... that's quite an ability Kisame has."
Throughout Konoha, a sense of unease spread. While Kisame's power wasn't as overwhelmingly terrifying as the previously witnessed spectacle of Madara Uchiha summoning meteors, it significantly undermined their confidence in the Jinchuriki as ultimate weapons. Clearly, even Tailed Beasts and their hosts were not invincible. Individuals like Hoshigaki Kisame were proof that they could be defeated.

Akatsuki Base,
Kisame Hoshigaki let out a wide, toothy grin. The earlier footage showing his defeat at the hands of Might Guy had bruised his ego, making him momentarily doubt his own Kage-level prowess. But witnessing his decisive victory over the Eight-Tails Jinchuriki on screen had restored his confidence entirely.
'Perfect Jinchuriki'? 'Eight-Tails Killer Bee'? Bah! ' . He thought with satisfaction. 'Before me and Samehada, they're just prey!'
"Kisame, nicely done!" Kakuzu commented, his voice raspy.
Sasori added, his tone unchanging, "Kisame certainly seems well-suited for capturing Tailed Beasts. Perhaps we should assign the remaining ones to him as well?"
Nearby, Itachi Uchiha observed his partners attempting to subtly shift future work onto the clearly eager Kisame. He interjected calmly.
"Don't try to pawn off your missions just because you feel lazy. Stop taking advantage of Kisame's enthusiasm."
"It's quite alright, Itachi-san," Kisame boomed, hefting Samehada slightly. "I genuinely enjoy hunting Jinchuriki. It's thrilling!"
Itachi gave a small, almost imperceptible sigh. "The problem, Kisame, is that I don't particularly relish the thought of trekking all over the continent with you for every single capture."
Kisame fell silent.

Meanwhile - Land of Bears,
Two other Akatsuki members were pursuing a different target.
"Deidara-senpai, are you sure the Three-Tails is really in that lake?" Tobi asked in his characteristic high-pitched voice, peering doubtfully at the tranquil surface.
"According to intel, this is the spot, un," Deidara confirmed, sounding supremely confident.
"Soooo, shouldn't we hurry up and capture it then, Senpai? Let's get this done!" Tobi chirped.
"Trying to rush my art? You're centuries too early for that, un!" Deidara retorted, though he was already molding a large bird from his explosive clay.
"Senpai, be careful!" Tobi warned as Deidara hopped onto the bird. "The Three-Tails can supposedly create illusions!"
"Don't underestimate my art!" Deidara declared loftily.
Tobi sighed dramatically under his mask. "He's always in such a rush!"
From the air, Deidara dropped several small, fish-shaped clay bombs into the lake below. "Katsu!"
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Explosions rocked the water, sending huge waves outwards. Enraged, the colossal, turtle-like form of the Three-Tails (Isobu) erupted from the depths, its single eye fixing on the intruders.
Tobi, standing precariously on the water's surface, began to tremble violently. "S-Senpai! It's huge! Look how big it is!"
"Tobi!" Deidara called down. "You're an Akatsuki member too, un! You handle this!" With that, the artist steered his clay bird higher, settling in to observe.
Isobu roared, swinging one of its massive, spiked tails directly at Tobi. The masked ninja shrieked comically, scrambling desperately across the water's surface to evade the blow. However, another swift attack sent him tumbling into the lake, vanishing beneath the churned-up water.
Deidara sighed with exasperation. "Useless." He was forced to intervene, dropping a larger, more potent clay bomb that detonated directly on the Tailed Beast, stunning it.
Seizing the opportunity, Tobi scrambled back onto the surface, striking a triumphant pose.
"Yay! Hooray! Tobi did it! Deidara-senpai, did you see?! Tobi defeated the Three-Tails all by himself! Tobi is a good boy!"
Deidara scowled down at his shameless partner. "That was my explosive art that subdued it, you idiot, un! And besides, Akatsuki members are supposed to be serious and reserved! Try acting the part!"
"...Senpai talks more than anyone," Tobi muttered, just loud enough for Deidara to potentially hear.
A murderous glare shot down from the clay bird, and Tobi instantly fell silent.
As dusk began to settle, Deidara's creation carried the subdued form of the Three-Tails through the air. Tobi lay silently on the turtle's back.
"Oi, Tobi," Deidara said after a while, "You don't have to take that 'reserved' thing that seriously, un."
He received no reply. Deidara didn't know that beneath the orange mask, a single tear tracked silently down Tobi's scarred face. His thoughts were far away, fixed on the memory of a cheerful, laughing girl from long ago.
"Rin..."
