Great Sorcerer, Nurture (4)

Mirole took Evan’s response as a joke. He talked about plucking trees from the Mother Forest, where the circumferences and the trees’ height were several meters. Hence, she allowed him to do so. Then, she asked him to stop after witnessing him plucking more than five trees at once through the power of Annihilation.

“If you are trying to relocate the trees, you don’t have to pluck them all like that! I misunderstood, so please plant them back!”

“Are you saying I don’t need to remove them all?”

Evan tilted his head while placing the trees back to their original location. As he became fluent with controlling the Annihilation, he could pluck and plant five trees at once without even lifting a finger…well, there seemed to be no difference in describing his action as to whether he was planting them or plunging them.

“Ahhh, I was worried that the entire forest would be gone.”

“That’s impossible even for me…yet.”

“Did you say yet?”

“Sorry, I’m not sure of the extent of my power due to my memory loss.”

Memory loss sure was a convenient excuse! Mirole looked at Evan with doubt, but she gave up quickly.

“If you want to plant them in another place, just snap the branches, Zero. But one branch per tree, after respectfully receiving permission from the spirits.”

“Wow, such a thing existed.”

“A ritual is needed for planting, but you have me by your side. Take me with you.”

“Sure, it has nothing, but I’ll show you.”

Evan carefully snapped branches from the surrounding tree with Mirole’s help. Was it because he could feel the presence of the spirits? He felt the power of nature concentrating on the branch after snapping it. He even thought that processing it as is would make a great artifact.

“Spirits…are really something.”

“That is the reason how we, the forest fairies, were able to live in this forest up until now.”

“Yeah…I think these are enough.”

Evan didn’t have to say what he needed next. Mirole asked all the spirits to gather flowers, seeds for fruits, grass, and even live fishes and handed them over to Evan. After getting an idea from looking at the fishes, Evan searched around and caught multiple animals.

―Kyiiiii, Kyiiiii!

―Grrrrrrrrgh!

“…Zero, how did you do that?”

“I just pulled them with my hand from a distance.”

“…With your hand, huh? Distance?”

“That’s what we call the New Way.”

“Hiiya!”

Maybell hit Evan’s head, which was something that rarely happens, and explained on his behalf. Mirole understood it.

“As expected from your unique magic. It’s amazing magic, as it synchronizes with the body movement, yet it is different from telekinesis. Telekinesis can’t affect this much of a change…besides, there seems to be a unique attribute to the force itself.”

It wasn’t a unique attribute but just a simple pressure, but since it was too strong, it felt like something far greater, like gravity.

“Then, let’s go.”

“Ha, wait!”

Just in time. Someone came up to Evan, who was holding onto different kinds of plants and animals from God’s Era, like how Noah placed all animals into his ark, and that person was Sharay. Sharay looked at Evan in a profound way while holding onto her broom-type magic tool, and Evan tilted his head.

“What is it?”

“I wanted to go, too…can I?”

“Then, there’s a test before joining in.”

Actually, there was no reason she couldn’t join in. In fact, it would be much better for her to see the world she and the others would live in in the future if decorating that world became successful. Still, he needed to know how hard she participated in her special training. And the other humans were still doing their best in their training on the other side.

“Th-then?”

Sharay rode on her broom in a tense manner. Evan’s eyes became wide. Well, she could fly up in the sky once she mastered the broom manipulation, but had she reached that point already?

“Wheeeew.”

The broom levitated! Sharay was dangerously flying in the sky. Those who were doing Evan’s training looked at her with wide fish eyes. Evan was also surprised. Flying in the sky in just one day. The stare grew stronger from Maybell, who was standing next to him, but he ignored it.

“Would this suffice…?”

“Yeah, you’ve done well.”

He knew the amount of mana she possessed was great, but he didn’t expect her to be this talented. Evan became sad as he thought of giving her a unique identity, unlike the other humans in this world.

“Then, shall we go now?”

He already knew the spell which he once cast. So, there was no need to say it out loud. Evan opened the door to the other world with Maybell, Mirole, and Sharay tagging along. Speaking of the process, summoning magic was activated with the necklace as its catalyst and blasted them away to their destination.

“Woah.”

“It’s a whole new world…”

The scenery suddenly changed. Sharay was looking around with a dumb expression. Mirole was surprised at the different qualities of mana in the new world.

“Is this where Zero used to live?”

“Nope, that’s not it.”

“I see.”

Although he denied it, she seemed not to heed his words. Evan would do the same thing, too, if he were in her shoes. A man who just dropped from the sky had a way to go to another world, so wouldn’t people tend to believe that such a world was the origin of that man?

“But there’s really nothing in here.”

“Well, it has the basic things. It has sky, land, and even water.”

“I’m starting to doubt how creatures don’t exist in this place with this many resources.”

It used to have one. A swarm of slimes that would have filled up the entire place…

“It’s really weird. I don’t feel the presence of the spirits, but the soils seem rich, and the river looks very pure…”

Even the air was all right. It lacked a little bit of mana compared to God’s Era, but a sweet and refreshing atmosphere filled this world.

“Let’s start working.”

“Sure.”

First, they let out the fishes into the river. They lively wagged their tails and disappeared downstream. Unless one knew the extent of the rivers, he wouldn’t see those fishes ever again.

“Next will be the animals. I’ll temporarily cast a spell so that they won’t attack each other. Master needs to bring in their food before their numbers increase…”

“Yeah. That won’t be a problem.”

He had a great idea for the animal’s food. There was something that was very nutritious and can make them very healthy and reproductive, yet humans can’t even touch them. Evan smiled suspiciously, and Maybell tilted her head but didn’t ask deeply about the meaning behind his smile. It was because she was the closest person to Evan.

“Here, hypnosis is complete. Everyone is well tamed now.”

As Maybell was a succubus, she excelled in hypnotizing that which redirected the consciousness of creatures into different directions. Animals from God’s Era had high stats. Still, they were considered mere monsters that couldn’t withstand her superb abilities, so they quietly spread out into the grass field with dim eyes. Mirole shouted in admiration as she saw what was happening.

“The abilities of the demon are really amazing. Being able to control this many animals at once…”

“It was possible since their intelligence is too low. If this worked on Master, my flowery days would have come ten years earlier.”

“Hey, stop saying that.”

He would have been ten years old if it were ten years ago!? Evan suddenly froze as he felt cold chills. How was it that he was sharing a room with this dangerous woman?!

“Flowery days…”

“Mirole?”

“Ha, it’s nothing!”

The sight of Mirole blushing and twisting her body made Evan more worried. He wanted to keep his distance in all honesty, but he needed her for the next task.

“Mirole, help me. I need to plant the trees.”

“Y-yes!”

Planting trees was simpler than Evan thought. All he needed to do was to plant the branch into a designated place. He just had to wait while Mirole put her hand onto the branch along with his (though he didn’t know why he had to place his hand on hers in the first place).

“Huh, is this it?”

“I’ve put in the power of the spirit. It’s enough for this child to grow in this world. There won’t be any immediate changes, but this is enough for now. I’ve borrowed your power, too.”

“Ah, I see.”

“Yes. So, it was necessary for me to hold your hand.”

She emphasized that it wasn’t intentional. She seemed not to know that her words made her even look more suspicious. FYI, Sharay fixed her sight on those two after looking at the planted tree. Evan looked at her since she looked like she wanted to say something, and Sharay cautiously asked a question.

“Is that gorgeous forest fairy some kind of an offering to you, god?”

“Hmm, nope.”

“I want to have myself given to you as an offering if I fail to become your disciple.”

“Yeah, I said no since I thought you would say so. There’s no need for an offering.”

Evan would support her with whatever resources she needed, so why does she want to give something to him? What should he do to lower the absolute awe Sharay had towards him? Evan asked Maybell for help with his eyes. Then Maybell stepped in as if she were telling Evan to entrust everything to her.

“A child like you can never satisfy Master. Stop dreaming and focus on your growth and eating well.”

“Would mana training help in my growth?”

“Of course.”

“Thank you for your teachings, Master!”

Maybell blinked several times as if she didn’t like to be called Master, and she turned away while smiling brightly.

“Things are taken care of, Master!”

“You just postponed the problem!”

And despite the scuffling around, planting trees, grass, and plants was being done smoothly. Although the scenery looked like the garden of a house, much could be expected from it, with Mirole blessing them with the power of the spirits she borrowed.

“Great, we should start giving these guys fertilizers, too.”

“’These guys?’”

“Yup, I plan to give the same food to the animals.”

Evan pulled out a large sack from his inventory pocket and scattered it around the area. The small grains that looked like hard, dried sawdust were scattered on the soil and absorbed. The animals gathered around the unabsorbed grains and started eating them. Evan piled up the grains in one place after completely dusting the sack. The soil would absorb as much as it needed, and then the animals would eat what remained.

“Animals sure eat well. What is it?”

“Alchemy’s result.”

“That sounds creepy.”

‘This is why I don’t like maids who catch things fast.’ Evan ignored the doubtful look she was giving him. Only the result mattered regardless of its ingredient; the result only mattered.

“What don’t you have inside that pocket…?”

“I guess I have everything except living humans, don’t I? Well, we’re done with the landscaping, so let’s go back. Mirole needs to continue her training.”

“G-god!”

It was Sharay who called out to Evan again.

“If it’s alright with you, god, may I train in this world?”

“Hmm?”

Evan tilted his head as he failed to understand her intention. And Sharay told him something he couldn’t possibly believe.

“The mana in this world, I feel it’s different from the world we belong to. If I’m able to attack the enemies with mana, wouldn’t it be better for me to use mana that they aren’t aware of?”

“…”

“And that is why I want to train in this place. God, could you grant me my wish?”

It wasn’t something that a beginner of magic would say. Evan looked at Maybell to hear about her opinion. She was surprised as well, but she nodded with an affirmation to his look.

“It would have been impossible for her to do so if her level were a bit higher, but she is yet a beginner in terms of mana manipulation. Moreover, she reached that skill with just learning mana manipulation and without even experiencing the level up which Master mentioned…so yes, it’s possible. It will be possible. The mana that filled up this world is unfamiliar to me. She can tame it in her unique way and develop it further…”

And Maybell added that what was more surprising was that such an idea came from that girl alone.

“But you have to be determined. If you change your mana like that, someday you will…in this world…”

“Sure thing!”

Evan didn’t pick up Maybell’s last words, but Sharay, who had the brain to form her own mana, seemed to understand her well. Maybell nodded in satisfaction towards her, whose sky-blue eyes sparkled as she replied, and then whispered so that only Evan could hear her.

“I’ve confirmed it fully just now. She isn’t one of your ancestors. You can relax now.”

“Maybell, explain to me why I should relax. And if your explanation is what I expect, prepare for punishment.”

“Kiiiyyyaa, it will be a fierce night tonight.”

“I’m not talking about bedroom play…!”

In the end, Evan left Sharay there…the so-called ‘Necklace world’ and returned to earth. People were even more afraid of Evan and called him god while worshipping him as they saw Sharay didn’t return along with him.

…Perhaps, these guys thought Sharay was offered as a sacrifice.
