Never Die Extra (Edited)-Chapter 419
Great Ancient Mage, Accompany (3)
Maybell and Fayna went on dungeon hunts, and they were able to clear several of them through their holy and demonic powers. In dungeons, food, gold, and sometimes even artifacts could be found aside from the monsters’ drops. In other words, they were the products of the Outer World that were in the form of drops in the dungeon. Modern people might not have noticed it. Still, the world of the Yo-Ma Great War resulted from the progress in numerous civilizations, plants, and organisms from the far past.
“Wasn’t this foolish, Master?”
“Sorry. I didn’t think much.”
The two girls couldn’t beat Evan even when they gained tons of trophies. It was because Evan destroyed half of the dungeons in the Mother Forest with just one wave of his hand (it applied to normal dungeons, and with the wind created by Annihilation, he could even collect the trophies).
“I rushed in with the sense of limited time…”
When playing Yo-Ma Great War Zero, it took four days to clear one dungeon with Mirole despite her great coordination with Evan. In the first phase of the game, more dungeons were created rather than finished. So, it was natural for him to do his best in clearing out the dungeons when he recalled the time he had trouble in the game. While Evan directed Mirole to do her best in the real battles, he cleared the dungeons in the Forest by clearing the obstacles she couldn’t handle. It was only after clearing everything that Evan realized he just did something absurd.
“Zero, you were amazing today. In just one day, you’ve brought peace to the Mother Forest that had been suffering from invasions from the Outer World…!”
Then Mirole, who became stronger than ever when compared to the morning, looked at Evan lovingly. Perhaps she finally lost it after experiencing too many near-death battles.
“What should I do, Maybell? I’m not sure what will become of the things I’ve done today.”
“Master, I think it’s too late for that. Just give up and accept your fate.”
Maybell replied naturally, although she was one of the reasons that Evan turned the world of Yo-Ma Great War Zero completely different from the game. Evan looked at her while pouting. He felt something touch him. Mirole pulled her butt closer to him and closed the distance between them.
“You’ve done enough for today, Zero. So, I wanted to say, uhm…”
“…What is it?”
Evan created some distance with her as he felt worried. And, as Maybell was on Evan’s other side, he bumped into her. Maybell was observing Mirole as she giggled.
“I was wondering if you want me to relieve your stress by serving you tea…”
“Tea?”
“Yes, that’s right. It’s something that the forest fairies serve only to their families. But, Zero, you are the savior of this Forest and my trainer, so if it’s a tea…”
An Elven tea which he didn’t even expect, came up at this timing! Evan knew the meaning of it more than anyone, and he gulped as he made eye contact with Maybell, who looked at him with a lot of worries.
‘What’s going on here? Her likeability towards me seemed to have jumped a lot in just one day, hasn’t it? All I did was clear dungeons…!’
‘It’s not a rare sight for a woman to fall in love with a strong man, Master.’
Maybell nodded as if she agreed, saying that his lovely face combined with his overwhelming power was a dangerous charm. But still! She was the princess of the eternal elves!
“Uh, Mirole, umm…”
“Please wait for a minute!”
Mirole ran to the kitchen while shouting as she mistook Evan’s nodding. There was no time for him to stop her, which would hurt her feelings, so Evan just watched her from behind.
“I feel very sorry for Mirole right now.”
“I’m not surprised.”
[In just one day…half of this vast forest…? Half…half…]
While resting in Evan’s tent, they were catching up in regards to the achievements they made for the day. Surely, Fayna, who was Maybell’s partner, joined them, and she seemed to be at a loss for words at Evan’s achievements.
[It won’t be strange if a cult that believes in him is created…!]
“Things are already looking like that, so don’t worry too much.”
Maybell’s words of condolence didn’t do much to help Fayna, who already lost her mind. Evan frowned beside her.
“Are they still doing it today?”
“Yes. It looks more professional than yesterday.”
Evan stood up and looked around discreetly. And he saw some humans praying in the direction where Evan’s tent was located. Although their attires were normal, they looked very serious and dignified. What’s more, they were offering some of the bread and meat Evan gave them as their meal. That’s right. They were willingly doing a religious act of the kind which Yeo Ban-Min hated back when he was conscripted in the military!
“Why are they performing offering rites while I’m here?”
“Don’t they want to express their gratitude?”
[At this rate… the dignity of the Great Mother Earth…but they aren’t completely ignoring her…]
Fayna was mumbling as she was troubled, but she lifted her head as she regained her senses. Her eyes were sparkling.
[Alliance.]
“Huh?”
[We can have an alliance between the gods!]
“Umm…I don’t see myself as a god, do I?”
Evan was dumbfounded, but luckily Fayna didn’t seem to have heard him.
[Yeah, all that’s needed is an alliance. To secure the dignity of the Great Mother Earth…I have no choice. Good, let’s do that.]
“Ms. Fayna?”
[I have a request.]
Fayna looked at Evan and showed him her most pitiful expression.
[Do you know the necessary conditions for the gods to influence Middle Earth? Aside from the barrier between the worlds getting thinner like now?]
“Belief.”
[You know it well. As expected, you…]
“No…nope. I’m not.”
The disciple of the Great Mother Earth spoke to Evan in her most polite manner as if she were treating another god.
[I, Fayna, the disciple of the Great Mother Earth, humbly request an alliance with you. It means your name will be used with every action you do with the Great Mother Earth from now on. Of course, this won’t give you any merit. Yet…!]
Fayna’s earnest expression reached its maximum potential.
[The Great Mother Earth truly wants to help the humans. If I succeed in spreading her fame, she might give us more help than ever, although she won’t be able to personally descend. An example would be having more fruits cropped through the power of the earth!]
That actually happened in the scenario of Yo-Ma Great War Zero. The power of the Great Mother Earth affected all living beings in this world. What people needed the most was food, and as the scenario progressed, the followers of the Great Mother Earth were able to gather more food as their numbers increased. With such progress, the Great Mother Earth received overwhelming support. Simultaneously, humans and the other races survived through her blessings, which was a win-win relationship.
[It won’t be difficult for you to gather your followers as your hierophany is concrete. So, I ask of you. The Great Mother Earth won’t forget your kindness and reward you if you help us!]
“Then so be it.”
[Grgh. If you want, I’ll even offer my body…huh?]
“Yeah, let’s do that. Why are people from this world trying to offer their bodies so quickly?”
As Fayna pulled at her shoulder strap and tried to awkwardly charm Evan in front of the Succubus Queen, she blinked her eyes dumbfoundedly at Evan’s words.
[Wait…will you help us? It won’t do you any good at all…!]
“However, it would help people survive if the fame of the Great Mother Earth spreads, won’t it? If not, there’s no meaning to this alliance.”
[Aah…!]
Fayna’s expression suddenly became bright.
[You truly are a merciful god! As expected, to the point that this capricious Demon worships you!]
“Well, I’m not a god… Anyways, promise to keep helping me in spreading the name of the Great Mother Earth.”
[That’s given already! Of course, even the Great Mother Earth will thank you!]
Fayna rejoiced and held both of Evan’s hands. She looked very foolish…in Evan’s eyes. Increasing the influence of the Great Mother Earth was one of the game-clearing factors of Yo-Ma Great War Zero anyways!
“Are you saying that we can just borrow the name of the Great Mother Earth in whatever we do in the future?”
[No, that’s not it. That’s too much to ask for. So please, use the name of the Great Mother Earth along with yours…]
“That’s not needed. Faith should be focused on only one for the best results.”
[You know too well about god’s power, as expected!]
As Evan became too tired to deny it further, he decided not to refute her statement anymore. Instead, he clearly stated his conditions to the Great Mother Earth.
“In the near future, I’d like to receive a specific blessing from the Great Mother Earth. It can be granted later on.”
[She will grant such a wish, yes! Absolutely!]
Fayna looked very satisfied and shook Evan’s hands as if an employee of a small company won a contract from a large company effortlessly. Evan was satisfied with this result.
‘This might minimize the impact on the changes.’
‘Well, that won’t stop these people from doing the ritual, though…’
That couldn’t be helped. What happened in the future mattered the most, the future. Millions of humans and the other races would be rescued by the Great Ancient Mage in the future! If they all worship the Great Mother Earth, the small factions that worship Evan as a god would vanish in no time!
…And Evan hoped it would happen that way!
“…Ms. Fayna, aren’t you being too rude to Zero despite you being the disciple of the Great Mother Earth?”
At that moment, the sound of teapot and cups being laid on the table was heard. Mirole brewed the Elven Tea and stared at Fayna, who was holding Evan’s hands.
[Hmm? Ah, you don’t need to worry too much. I just made a promise to establish a closer relationship with Zero as a disciple of the Great Mother Earth.]
Fayna smiled cheerfully. Mirole also smiled back at her and analyzed Evan’s expression after facing Fayna.
“I see, but how about letting go of his hands?”
[Haha, oh my. I was being rude.]
Fayna let go of Evan’s hands as if she didn’t notice anything. But Evan felt it. The aura which Mirole gave off became different from a few moments ago!
‘…I think my power impressed them too much.’
‘It comes with the fame of the Guide of the New Way.’
Only Maybell heard Evan’s silent grumble through the connection with his spirit and replied to it. Evan pledged to punish her tonight and drank the Elven Tea, which Mirole offered with a sweet yet scary smile.
