Chapter 1105: Making Him See

Tian Kuo couldn’t stand the maniacal grin David was flashing, but he could do nothing about it. If a fight were truly to break out, he was at half-strength at best, and the four powerhouses in their group alone could probably match him.

Especially the demon spawn. And that went without even mentioning the other ones and the newly developed Qi cultivator among them.

There was no telling if he would join them or him, and he didn’t want to test fates like this.

Refocusing on the devilish grin on David’s face, the fox grimaced at his previous words.

"What do you mean, assemble all four of us? Do you have any idea how hard it will be to get that damned turtle to move for anyone? And the Tiger won’t follow you around just because you asked. We are prideful celestial beasts, Mortal. You don’t get to just order us around," Tian Kuo spat, interrupting David.

David glared at him, peeved he was being interrupted.

"I’m surprised you didn’t nitpick at how I said I knew where they were," he joked. "But that is beside the point. They will follow my orders. However, that is none of your concern. Your only concern in this matter is to be where I tell you, when I tell you. Capisce?"

Tian Kuo clicked his tongue in disgust but kept his mouth shut.

"Good. As I was saying, getting the others there will be the straightforward part. Getting you four to cooperate will be the hard part, and fooling the amulet into believing you are the azure dragon is even harder. But that is not your problem, it is mine.

"Your problem will be to get along with the other three. They will not know you are replacing the azure dragon until the day of the ritual, and I need to make sure you keep your snout shut. If you say anything to them beforehand, this shit all flies out the window."

"Hah, understatement," Tian Kuo mocked.

David glared at him again, about to blow a fuse, but Alex cleared his throat, indicating him to keep going.

"Ignore the fox. Keep explaining, David. We don’t have all day, and I want to leave this place soon."

David grimaced and sighed, but nodded anyway.

"Whatever you say, hoss. In any case, I need you to take this amulet and start binding it to yourself. You have six months. Since you aren’t the azure dragon, it’ll take you longer. If you think it’ll take you longer, well, tough luck. Find the dragon and give it to him.

"I don’t have time to hold your hand. If this isn’t done within six months, which is already a stretch, we won’t have the two years that we are supposed to have. And two years is already seldom enough time to prepare for the demons. So deal with it yourself," he said, glaring at the fox.

Tian Kuo looked at him with bewildered eyes.

"Six months?! Atuning to an amulet like that would take three for even the azure dragon himself, whom it was designed for and by! How do you expect me to do it in six?!" he blared, infuriated and in panic.

"As I said, deal with it. I’m giving you twice as much time, and that is as much as we can give you. Stop being a little bitch, and nod your head like a good little pet," David insulted him.

"You insolent little!" Tian Kuo started barking, before Alexander slapped the table, sending another crack in it.

"Are you two done fucking being children? David, stop picking at him. And you," Alex said, turning his gaze to Tian Kuo, "For someone who has lived millennia, you are the epitome of impatience. You’d think thousands of years of life would have made you more patient," he admonished, feeling Kary’s eyes on the back of his head, knowing full well she was staring at him with a ’Really?’ gaze.

"Time is against us, and if David said you have six months, then you have six months. He gave you an alternative. If you aren’t happy with your lot, take it. If not, suck it up, buttercup. Unless you want a demon invasion to happen," he said, ignoring Kary’s derisive gaze.

Tian Kuo pursed his lips, annoyed at being bossed around by mortals. He was a proud and powerful celestial beast, for crying out loud!

And yet, these mortals were using him like a simple tool.

"You act like a demon invasion would spell the end for everyone. Do you think my formations and disciples are just for show? I can guarantee this mountain is safe if anything of the sort happens," he spat, giving them a mocking grin.

But Alex sighed. novelbuddy-cσ๓

"That’s where you are wrong. Nowhere is safe. I would even go the extra mile and wager this mountain would be the first place to get torn down by demons. It would be like a beacon to them, with all the surrounding energy."

"Hah!" the fox exclaimed, looking at him with disdain.

"Just another proof that you know nothing, mortal. You’re too young to know anything of what happened here before your time, and too inexperienced to predict what will happen in the future."

Alex looked at him with a deadpan expression.

"Is that what you think? We’ve told you that David knows what will happen, and you still act like we have no recourse to see ahead of time. Do you think so little of us that you think us incapable of predicting the future?" he asked, trying to reason with the celestial fox.

"No one can predict the future with accuracy. Time is a fickle thing, and seeing into it is the best way to change what will happen, making your visions irrelevant. If you’d lived as long as I have, you would know that," Tian Kuo spat.

He was loath to lecture the kid on something that had taken him years to understand. Oracles had tried from time immemorial to peer into their future, only for it to alter it so far beyond their visions that their fate was altered altogether; usually for the worse.

Alex sighed again, tired of being underestimated.

"With all your experience, you should also know that some things are bound to happen. Some points in time cannot be avoided. Fate is just as inescapable as time, Tian Kuo," Alex said, trying to make him understand.

"As if you could talk about fate to me, boy," Tian Kuo growled.

Seeing he wasn’t getting through to him, Alex made up his mind. If he didn’t want to believe their words, then he would force him to believe by showing him.

"Excuse me, for a moment," Alex said, before vanishing from his seat.

Five seconds later, he reappeared out of nowhere, with someone at his side sporting a bewildered look, and slapped the woman’s hand over Tian Kuo’s forehead.

"Pardon the intrusion."

"What the—

But before Tian Kuo could finish his exclamation, his eyes turned white, and the words died in his throat, as his head snapped backward.

And he wasn’t the only one whose eyes had rolled back into their heads, as the woman whose hand Alex was forcing on Tian Kuo’s forehead slumped into his arms, her hand fused to the celestial beast’s forehead by an unseen force.

"Is that?" Kary said, surprised.

"Yes. If he won’t listen to reason, he’ll have to listen to his own eyes. So I brought the only person I knew who could show him directly, Amara Rossi. Let’s hope whatever he sees makes him understand the urgency..."
