New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 616: Discussing the husbands’ schedule
By the time Coco had finished her mission, the sky was already orange and was about to transition to a gradient of orange and pink.
With the help of Neo, Coco dropped off the monsters she caught— a flying pig and a poison tiger, then the two of them proceeded to drop off the monsters beside the reception desk to mark the mission finish.
"You’re only doing one mission?" Neo asked, confused at Coco’s unexpected desire to go home early.
"Well, yes.." Coco mumbled absentmindedly, watching as the monsters slowly vanished into thin air as the teleportation device did its thing and teleported the monsters who knows where. "I have plans tonight, so I have to go home."
The tall man nodded his head, his eyes skimming through the soft expression on Coco’s face.
"Before you leave, go upstairs and talk to the guildmaster." Neo stated, a small smile crossing his features. "I vaguely remembered him telling me and others to have you sent to his office once you come to the guild."
Coco blinked and looked at Neo. "Really? Why didn’t Yuuko tell me? I bumped into her earlier."
"What?" Neo’s eyebrows furrowed as she stared down at Coco, tilting his head. "Maybe she forgot? Or she probably didn’t get told to send you to the guildmaster’s office?"
"I don’t know." Coco shrugged and turned around. "Anyway, I’ll stop by the office, then I’ll go home. See you around, Neo."
"See you around, Coco." Neo returned the good wishes, nodding his head.
Coco didn’t waste any time to make her way to the guildmaster’s office and quickly ascended the staircase to get to the second floor, and once her foot landed on the floorboard, she turned to her right and went straight to the office.
When she reached the door, she raised a hand and tapped the wooden surface with her knuckles.
Knock, knock, knock, knock.
"Mr. Covez?" Coco called, her knuckles coming down into the door. "I heard that you were looking for me, sir? I’m here now."
Not even a second later, the door swung open and Mr. Covez looked so relieved when his eyes landed on Coco’s surprised face. "Coco! Finally! I was thinking of going to your house, but I believe that wasn’t professional of me, so I decided not to, but if you didn’t come in tomorrow as well, then I probably would have rushed to your house to check—"
"I don’t think that would be necessary." Coco laughed softly, interrupting the guildmaster’s rambling.
Mr. Covez nodded his head, clearing his throat. "I-I know, that’s why I decided against it and didn’t go to your house. Please forgive me for crossing a line."
Coco couldn’t help, but wonder what could be happening today. Why is everyone so worried about her to the point of crossing her boundaries? Even Yuuko, a person she’s not close to, suddenly showed concern.
It was a good thing Neo knows better. Coco thought as she smiled at the guildmaster, waving a dismissive hand.
"It’s fine, but please, don’t ever go to my house uninvited." Coco stated bluntly, but there was a soft smile on her face that kind of threw off the guildmaster. "If you do, I will have no choice, but to resort to self-defense."
"Self-defense?" Mr. Covez repeated, sweat dropping in his cheek.
"Yes." Coco answered and pushed past the man to get inside the office. "I don’t like the thought of my husbands being at home when someone uninvited went to our humble abode. I will immediately assume the worst."
I won’t, but it’s never bad to leave a warning. Coco thought, walking over to the couch and taking a seat. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"I see, I promise I won’t come over without letting you know first." The guildmaster said, closing the door behind him and walked back to his desk.
"Anyway, I was waiting for you because Yaya is in dire need of replacement." Mr. Covez stated and took a seat, he leaned forward, placing his elbows on the desk and staring straight at Coco. "I talked to your husband and interviewed him. He can start as soon as tomorrow."
Coco blinked. "Has a week already passed since Heiren and Kairo got interviewed?"
Mr. Covez raised an eyebrow and nodded his head. "Yes, today marks that a whole week has passed. Why? Are you planning to pull out Heiren from the guild?"
"No, not really." Coco mumbled and proceeded to rub the back of her neck, a sheepish look crossing her features. "I wasn’t just expecting the days to go by that fast.. It feels like time is getting too fast these days."
"You only feel like that." Mr. Covez hummed out and leaned back on his chair, relaxing his frigid posture. "My days felt slower than usual, so I was worried."
Coco’s eyes flickered up, her eyebrows furrowing in worry. "Maybe a pet will help ease that slowness, sir? I have a couple of lovely.. Companions, and they make everyday interesting enough."
"A pet?" Mr. Covez pondered about it, his eyes shifting to the desk. "That might be a good idea, thank you."
"You’re welcome, sir." Coco smiled at him and stood up, casting the guildmaster one last glance. "Does this mean that Kairo and Heiren will start working starting tomorrow? Should I tell them to come in early?"
"As early as six in the morning." Mr. Covez said, returning the smile with a little force. "Tell Mr. Kairo that he will be working at the front desk and Mr. Heiren will be working in the kitchen.. So, he can come in a little later. If possible, you can just come in with him."
"They can clock in at the different times, but they’ll go home at the same time, right?" Coco asked, tilting her head.
"As per what we agreed upon, yes." The guildmaster answered with a chuckle. "Your husband was quite a fellow who wanted to cook for you no matter what, after all."
"Yeah, that’s one of the reason why I love him."
