Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven-Chapter 330: Projection Frame
"I’ll think about it later." Grey clicked his tongue.
The matter of love and relationships was not in his initial agenda, but love had bloomed around him without his notice.
For now, the best course of action was to observe and fully confirm their intent.
"You’ve opened my eyes, Jasmine. I will keep this in mind." Grey said casually.
"It’s nothing, Chief Grey. I did what I could. I’m glad I was able to help you."
"Now, if you want to, you may even lessen the binding vow requirement and let me also examine your body closely, alongside getting your blood sample as a return of payment. What do you say?" Jasmine looked at Grey with a wide grin.
"No." Grey replied with a deadpan look on his face.
What’s with this woman’s obsession with examining his body?
He was now ninety percent certain that she would dissect him if she got the chance.
"Anyway, let’s make the binding vow. What do you say?" Jasmine inquired.
Grey simply nodded.
If possible, he wanted to begin comprehending her origin imprint immediately, but he still had some things to do.
Create the Convergence Principles Core. Make announcements related to the Southern Region. Check out the ice wall and see if they could cross over to the other side by observing it using his heaven-defying comprehension. And finally, meet the women at the mansion and say a few words to them.
Aside from the fact that he had completely ditched them for a few months, he wanted to see how they would act around him and observe them more closely to confirm things.
There was also the matter of the law of entropy and related principles.
He also needed to meet Senior Xia and transfer her into his secret realm as well.
After all that was done, he would go with Jasmine and comprehend her origin imprint, which should, in theory, take two to three weeks at best if he simply stared at her all day.
He would let his mind perception do its work as he comprehended the mysteries of the origin imprint, which could access the information layer.
The origin imprint was the key to becoming a modern mage.
"Speaking of modern magic, do you have any speed-related modern magic, Jasmine?" Grey couldn’t help but ask.
Lots of evolvers had agility-related techniques. He had one now as well, but since he had found a new evolution path from a different world, he wanted to know if there was something more refined.
"Yes." Jasmine said with a smile.
"There is. We have something called Projection Frame." Jasmine’s left wrist lit up.
"I will show you its effects. Try to attack me."
As Jasmine spoke, a magic rune lit up on her wrist, her eyes flickering with calculation.
Whrrmm!
Grey did not hesitate. Sword energy surged forward, carrying sharp killing intent.
Boom!
The instant the sword energy formed, Jasmine’s figure blurred violently. In the next instant, her body seemed to glitch, and then her silhouette appeared to split into twelve.
Grey’s eyes constricted.
No.
Her body had not truly split. What appeared instead were afterimages scattered through space, residual imprints left behind as her body skipped through reality.
Ting! Ting! Ting! Ting!
The afterimages stabilized in rapid succession. Jasmine’s figure flickered between them, crossing a massive distance in a blink before appearing several meters away in a single second.
It was as if she had moved by connecting one afterimage to the next.
What shocked Grey even more was the strange sensation creeping into his body. His limbs felt heavy.
’Am I moving slower?’
Grey realized his hands were responding far more sluggishly than before.
In the next moment, multiple afterimages formed again, and Jasmine was suddenly standing right in front of him.
"You feeling sluggish is normal." Jasmine said calmly.
"Projection Frame divides one second into twelve fixed intervals."
"Within those intervals, I can move twelve times when I should normally only move once."
"There is no acceleration and no inertia between movements."
"My position simply updates from one interval to the next."
"And anyone who cannot keep up experiences delay, as if reality itself is resisting their actions."
She met Grey’s gaze.
"The only way to break it is to match my execution speed."
"Which is impossible through normal means."
"You don’t say." Grey mumbled absentmindedly as his comprehension stirred to life.
[Your comprehension defies the heavens! By observing Projection Frame, you’ve gained insight into it and glimpsed the rule behind the skill.]
[You’ve gained insight into the law of time.]
’Well, well, well. If it isn’t the law of time.’
’You came back to me after all.’ Grey laughed inwardly.
Then, he heard Jasmine speak again.
"This skill has three stages, early, intermediate, and completion. Someone at the intermediate stage can divide one second into twenty-four frames, and someone at completion can divide one second into sixty frames."
"But I’ve been using this for a few months now, and I still haven’t managed to reach intermediate."
"Hm, I wonder why." Grey rolled his eyes.
He knew the answer.
It was most likely due to the time law playing hide-and-seek with fellow evolvers.
Without comprehension of the law of time, it was probably impossible to reach the intermediate stage quickly.
But he liked Projection Frame very much. No inertia, no acceleration. She was jumping through twelve frames in one second.
This was incredibly fast.
And he wouldn’t have to worry about gravity, motion, or inertia. Even at incredible speed, he could perform and launch attacks without wasting movement while still maintaining that speed.
"Modern magic is crazy." Grey couldn’t help but say. He had to learn all the skills Jasmine knew and hoard them for himself.
"Okay, Jasmine. Can you write down the Projection Frame skill for me?"
"Write?" Jasmine tilted her head. "Chief Grey, I can’t write it down. My brain isn’t a quantum computer."
"The only thing I can do is show you the magic rune, which appears once the hexcore finishes calculating the skill and realizes Projection Frame’s intent to bring it into reality."
"Never mind then." Grey clicked his tongue.
He had almost forgotten that skills weren’t like techniques.
But on the other hand, he had already stored the image and video of her magic rune in his server.
He could just comprehend it from that.
