Chapter 338: The Other Side

As Jasmine shot forward, space rippled.

Tian Yuan appeared before her without warning, his expression indifferent as he casually swept his hand aside.

Boom!

The world flipped. Jasmine’s body was slammed into the ground, the impact carving a deep cavity into the flat surface as blood sprayed from her lips.

"Fun time’s over," Tian Yuan said, a sneer curling across his face.

"I have better things to do than entertaining mortals I can absorb at any time."

He stepped forward.

Another second, and her soul would be dragged into the River of Reincarnation.

Then his footsteps halted.

Boom!

A terrifying aura exploded outward.

Grey’s body trembled as an overwhelming pressure burst from him, the air screaming as Tian Yuan was sent flying, his figure smashing through layers of shattered earth.

[Your comprehension defies the heavens! By observing a heavenly tribulation, you have gained insight into the Law of Heavenly Tribulation.]

[Your comprehension defies the heavens! By observing a heavenly tribulation, you have gained insight into the Law of Heavenly Tribulation.]

[Your comprehension defies the heavens! By observing a heavenly tribulation, you have gained insight into the Law of Heavenly Tribulation.]

[You have successfully comprehended the Law of Heavenly Tribulation to Major Comprehension.]

The world trembled.

Tian Yuan staggered midair, his pupils shrinking violently as realization struck him.

’This aura... this law... it doesn’t belong to this realm.’

His expression twisted.

Before he could react, the sky darkened as a blinding purple brilliance erupted from the crater where Grey had fallen, lightning roaring as if the heavens themselves had descended.

"Is this... death—"

The world shook.

"Chief Grey!"

Jasmine dragged herself out of the cavity, her body trembling, blood soaking her clothes as she looked toward the blazing purple light.

Then she smiled.

Relief, awe, and faith crashed together in her eyes.

....

The AV piloted by General Ben tore through the skies, streaking like a blade as it plunged toward the battlefield below.

"We’re almost there, Niece Valeria," General Ben said, the corners of his lips curling into a cold grin.

"You bastard," Valeria snarled, struggling in her seat. "You won’t get away with this."

She couldn’t move.

None of them could.

At some point without their knowledge, body-numbing powder had been released inside the cabin. Their limbs felt like dead weights, nerves dulled, muscles refusing to respond. Worse still, their powers were completely sealed.

Alissa sat rigidly beside Valeria, her teeth clenched so hard her jaw trembled.

If she could move even a single muscle, she would have already smashed General Ben’s face into pulp.

It had all been a lie.

Grey had never been with them.

Lia, Little Hong, none of them had returned. Not a trace. Not a signal.

Everything they had seen had been an illusion carefully prepared from the start.

They had been utterly scammed.

"Don’t think you can escape this," Werner said, his voice shaking as sweat poured down his pale face. "Once Overseer Gu learns the truth, he’ll deal with you personally."

The instant those words left his mouth, the temperature inside the cabin dropped.

General Ben slowly turned his head.

"...Oh?"

His grin vanished, replaced by an icy glare.

"Old coot," he said softly, stepping closer. "You’ve got quite the loud mouth."

He stopped in front of Werner’s seat.

Before anyone could react, his fist came down.

Bang!

Werner’s head snapped sideways as blood sprayed across the floor. The restraints dug into his body as his frame convulsed by instinct.

Bang!

Another punch followed immediately, this time straight to the face.

Crack!

Bone shattered. Werner’s scream was cut short as teeth flew loose, clattering against the metal floor.

"You monster, stop!" Valeria shouted, struggling desperately. "Stop it! You’ll kill him!"

Her voice echoed uselessly inside the cabin.

Bang!

General Ben grabbed Werner by the collar and slammed him down, boots coming crashing onto his chest again and again. Blood pooled beneath the old man, his face swelling grotesquely, barely recognizable.

Alissa trembled violently in her seat.

Rage burned in her chest so fiercely it felt like her heart would burst, yet her body refused to obey her will.

She couldn’t move.

She couldn’t scream.

She could only watch.

"Tsk," General Ben clicked his tongue, stepping back. "My boots are dirty now."

He glanced down at the blood staining his footwear and sneered.

"Littered with this old coot’s filth."

Valeria’s nails dug into her palms as tears of fury welled in her eyes.

"Now then," General Ben said casually, turning back toward her. "Niece Valeria, stay still."

He waved his hand dismissively toward Werner and the others.

"These people are irrelevant. I only let them board so it’d be easier to convince you to step into my little trap."

He laughed loudly, the sound sharp and cruel.

"But don’t worry," he continued. "Once we reach Grand Priest Leon, he’ll handle the rest."

His eyes gleamed with malice.

"He’ll probably brainwash everyone here."

Then he leaned closer, lowering his voice.

"Including you."

...

The Western Region was now completely sealed.

A colossal barrier enveloped the skies, its surface rippling like liquid glass as countless AVs hovered above it. Beams of condensed light rained down relentlessly, slamming into the barrier again and again.

Yet it was all for naught.

No matter how violent the bombardment, the barrier did not even tremble.

"My fellow High Order members," a voice echoed from within the barrier. "Charge!"

The barrier split open.

Figures poured out in waves.

Second-rankers.

Third-rankers.

High Order elites surged forward in overwhelming numbers, their auras flaring as they descended upon the battlefield.

Below them, soldiers clad in Blue Star Federation uniforms tightened their grips on their weapons, grim expressions etched across their faces.

"Prepare for combat!"

The head captain’s voice thundered across the Western Region, carrying authority and resolve as formation arrays lit up beneath the soldiers’ feet.

Boom!

Clash!

Crack!

The two sides collided head-on.

Energy detonations tore through the battlefield as techniques and weapons clashed violently. The combined force of so many high-ranking existences caused space itself to warp and twist, fractures appearing and vanishing in rapid succession.

The shockwaves rolled outward.

The ocean bordering the Western Region churned violently, massive waves rising as the energy storm shook the sea to its depths.

Puchi!

The head captain stiffened.

A sharp, burning pain erupted from his back, piercing straight through his body.

"...What?"

His face turned deathly pale.

He was a fifth-level third-ranker.

How could someone sneak up on him without him sensing it?

Before he could even turn around, a cold, sinister voice whispered into his ear.

"Worms of humanity must be purged."

Twist.

The blade rotated inside his body. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"You can die now."

The captain’s vision blurred as his strength drained away. Behind him stood a man with white hair and ash-grey eyes, his lips stretched into a grotesque grin. His expression was crazed, almost delighted, as blood slid down his blade.

At that moment, another figure appeared beside him.

A girl with black-and-pink hair lazily blew a bubble of gum, her eyes half-lidded and bored, as if she were merely watching an uninteresting play.

"Are you done, Aron?" she asked casually. "We should report back to Grand Priest Leon."

She glanced toward the chaotic battlefield in the distance.

"It’s said the person with affinity to the Origin Core will arrive soon."

Aron flicked the blood from his blade and nodded.

"Lena."

"But Grand Priest Leon is in the second layer of space," Aron said, frowning slightly. "How are we supposed to get there?"

Lena smirked.

"He’s already opened a path."

She turned, her gaze locking onto a distorted fold in space not far away.

"Let’s go. But be careful," she added lazily. "There’s a huge battle going on over there. and Lingering around here won’t do us any good, those 4th ranking experts from the north and east is coming towards the west."

The two figures vanished, leaving behind a collapsing corpse and a battlefield descending further into chaos.
