Hyperwarps.

Fifty-One years ago, after the ascension of Justica Arms and its Beholder: Galia: in 300 PA, the Nexus transitioned from the den of Gods to a battlefield. Hyerplink Relay Sites were still in their infancy. Two-way travel did not appear until five years later.

During these five years Hyperwarps were used to move beings in and out of the Nexus with terrifying accuracy. Teleportation magic had roots in the world for centuries. However, it came with severe limitations of weight, distance, and needed to be installed at the same axis of another teleportation platform to function properly.

But a Hyperwarp defied all ancient and contemporary knowledge of teleportation magic. Whilst not used by the public, and seldomly used by Justica Arms themselves, Hyperwarps are inherently more powerful than the Hyperlink Relay Site.

This was because they were unrestricted. Relay Sites, and the Hyperlink by extension, were heavily regulated both internally (the Nexus itself) and externally (Justica Arms and CogitO). Without restrictions, anyone and anything could move an entire settlement in the blink of an eye to wherever they wished.

Hence, why the Hyperwarp Crystals: a nascent Hyperlink Crystal: only fell into the hands of the Moons. Weak Corrupted that did not require a Moon to subjugate, or required immediate backup, were sent to the Nexus to either be dealt with by the stationed Moons or as a Raid by the Blessed.

Raids initiated by Hyperwarps had become fairly uncommon since the Moons had been freed from Serum G. That was not to say they were infrequent. Raids were used heavily by both Blessed and the Moons. The Eternal Library provided an assortment of Archived Corrupted for Blessed to fight without the risk of death.

Moons on the other hand dealt with significantly powerful Corrupted as a means of training.

Ber flourished a hand into the stale air.

The act alone brought life into the Grand Stage. Of the countless Actors, she was the only one who participated as though she was playing a character.

It appeared this way to the members of Act X. No, even Horus and Alcina believed that Ber was wearing a mask of beauty to hide her insidious nature.

But they did not know Ber well.

It was their first time meeting the Claw of the Head, and as such, they could not help but superimpose the image of a femme fatale over her. Her immense beauty, her apparel that was a splendid blend between the uniform of a Moon with the aesthetics of the Head herself: it had caused her to produce an odd presence.

She did not scowl like Res and exerted every inch of her body to control the battlefield.

Nor did she curse like Cer and possessed the light of a star.

She was what the moon was to darkness. A light. And in their time of darkness, when an eternal night had befallen them, the Moons had arrived carrying nothing but refined elegance befitting of a princess.

“One Queen Bee, Indoctrinated Dolly Boy, Sunshine Jack, King of Midnight, and the 1st of the 9th, 325 PA. They are all Purpose Corrupted. No Main Sequence. Pit three on each Corrupted. Scatter the Hyperwarp Crystals. Leave the installation to me.”

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

“Yes, Claw.”

The Moons collectively chanted before a gale tore through the Grand Stage. The movements of the Moons caused a rush of air follow, and the impacts of their feet rang out like artillery strikes. Their mere presence destabilized the formations of Act X’s combined army.

Corrupted Denizens were forced to reroute as hordes were crushed under the mere presence of the Moons.

Anids laid maimed as the smallest fragments that were flung by the movement of the Moons became bullets.

Then, there were the Actors, the Heralds, and even the Missionaries. Actors rolled along the Grand Stage like tumbleweed in the face of the storm. Heralds barely held on as they plunged their blades into the marble to anchor themselves.

Missionaries did the same, their mantles fluttering violently behind them as they were faced with a glimpse of the Head’s power. Then, the winds ceased, and the battlefield became eerily silent as their movements became airy. The destruction ceased, and the Moons scattered the emerald crystals along the Grand Stage.

They miraculously fell into five perfect rings, each surrounding a Corrupted. The invisible 1st of the 9th, 325 PA had not yet been discovered. But Ber did not need to concern herself with wrangling a Corrupted.

Any hunter worth their namesake knew that herding prey into a trap was the superior method.

A cold flash of blue light came from the throne of the King of Midnight. It sucked the warmth of the room and condensed it into an ethereal blade. The blade descended onto a cat-eared Moon.

White light exploded from the impact. The Moon had not attempted to defend her life: until the very last moment.

[Suppressed Counter]. It was a Skill of this particular Moon that allowed one to commit to a perfect counter whenever they were able to suppress their fight or flight instincts. In the split second before the blade had struck, she had retrieved a curved blade from her Dimensional Storage and clashed with the ethereal sword.

The sickle-shaped weapon wrapped around her like the ribbons of a ballerina. Despite the enormous strength of the Moon, she had not budged an inch from where she stood. Normal for any Moon working beneath the banner of the Head.

Still, what was normal to the Moons and beings of the caliber was abnormal to the masses. The jaws of the Acolytes hung wide. They had already been shocked by the strength of both Res and Cer. But for a regular Moon of the Nexus to singlehandedly parry a Corrupted attack was unheard of.

“… Quality IX Cloth…”

A Missionary reverently uttered.

“Courtesy of Act X.” Ber hummed. “A flat rate of 2,000 DEF on top of our baseline DEF, boons from the Ateliers, and our Corrupted Persona makes Eternal Night Corrupted a bit…”

She wiggled her head left and right as she tried to find a polite way to word it.

“… hmm. A little, iffy. Nothing like the Main Sequences. Dying over and over to the same damned Corrupted with its instant-kill Conditions make non-Conditional and non-Main Sequence Corrupted juvenile by comparison.”

“Main Squence Corrupted. You imply that your Moons have been facing such class of Corrupted as a means of training.” A Herald managed to speak through the wave of fear.

But his mouth instantly sealed as the cat-eared Moon faced dozens of ethereal blades that sprung from the earth, only to be perfectly countered. She remained stationary, her hands appearing idly by her size as a silver armillary sphere of shimmers surrounded her.

These were the swings of her curved blade. In the meantime, two more Moons engaged with the Corrupted wordlessly. Their only parried to minimize the risk of an accidental Subjugation.

After all, their goal was to confiscate the Corrupted alive as to not violate Frost’s condition.

“Dealing with the Amalgam and a Corrupted is not so different. But she has a lot of leeway if you’re reasonable enough. Killing a Healer? Tsk tsk. Hah. I’m shocked Frost didn’t just [World Ablaze] your HQ into ashes. Better yet, have my sis use this place as a launching ground. But I don’t expect much awareness from people who follow. Guess you never saw what she did to Primus Ramus.”

Ber’s announcement was met with fireworks of magic and steel. The stoic method of combat on the Moon’s side unnerved the Acolytes. They were much like the Heralds of Act X and the Missionaries who did not need to speak to understand what needed to be done. But even they doubted that the Heralds had such coordination. This was only achievable thanks to the CognitO Transmitters and Receivers that Act X had refused, as per the Script. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

One Queen Bee shivered in the presence of three assailing Moons.
