Nexus Awakened (An Isekai LitRPG Gender Bender Story)-Chapter 991. An Impurity of The World
Glimmers of light appeared above her. They were so densely packed that they gave the illusions of wings of light. She swung her blade forward, and thousands of pale swords saturated the battlefield.
It did not matter to her who was caught in the onslaught. Nor did Cer imagine that it mattered to her. What mattered the most was that the White Horseman’s actions contributed to victory rather than senseless violence… freewebnoveℓ.com
Not like the Second Night. War. That phenomenon sweeps places like Emvita and leaves nothing but torn clothes and blood behind. Animals. Wait, Nav. Does that mean another Horseman is responsible for it!?
< It is highly likely that you are referring to the Red Horseman >
< The Horseman of War >
The White Horseman held her swords across her shoulders. The tips glowed with an emphatic light as a low-pitched hum filled the air. Cer could have sworn that she saw the world flashing like someone was flickering a lantern on and off in a dark room.
Once the tips were charged and an audible chime played, the White Horseman released her blades. A beam of light no thicker than the width of Cer’s finger. It passed through the Heart of the City before it faded away moments later.
Nothing happened, aside from it becoming painful to breathe all of a sudden. The phenomenon reminded Cer of how intense electrical attacks caused a chlorine-like scent to permeate in the air.
“Target is marked. Child of Typhon. Deliver my sincere apology to the one you call Jury.”
Cer’s mouth hung unhinged.
A derelict horn reverberated across the desert as an immense pale portal tore open in the skies.
Her lips moved but no sound came out. She was talking, but the horn was so loud that it silenced the world. For a moment, the war between the machines and the white blanket of monsters subsided.
All eyes fell to an object above.
“I must rely on measures from the sacred arsenal She had left behind for Jury. It would be disastrous to interact with the Site Core. More so when its contents are on the verge of spilling.”
“Couldn’t you just run at them…? I could even–!”
It was unnecessary to go through such measures when the Aberration was strong enough to crush the Heart of the City with her bare hands. But she was not aware of the conditions that bound them to whatever the White Horseman was gazing at whenever she looked past the blank horizon.
“I shall not dirty these hands that have remained untouched by the Lightless and the temptation of the Site Cores. Arbitrary, you may believe. But rather than attempting to comprehend the reasoning of a being whose lifespan exceeds yours by a magnitude of a thousand, I implore you defend the contents of the Site Core.”
“From the Heart, right?”
The White Horseman did not answer until a behemoth of a weapon emerged through the portal. A spectacular beam of energy was fired in the direction of the Heart of the City. It tore straight through the spire, removing a clean spherical chunk that was roughly one tenth of its entire structure.
Heart of the City | HP: 600,000,000
One hundred million damage…? That’s like… one hundred times more than what Jury’s Retrocausality is capable of! Don’t tell me that there’s more to it than just that. No way… That thing is larger than Jury’s one as well.
What kind of monsters were they fighting back then to need weapons like that? No… I think I already know. Faux Angels, huh.
“Your qualities make you the least likely person to meddle with the contents of the Site Core.” A surprising praise. “Therefore, while I am already too late to remove the parasite…”
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
The hole filled itself up with red slurry. Cer could have sworn she had seen faces among the liquified meat.
Suddenly, the head of a mechanical worm slithered from the hole. It wrapped around the spire, and then, the Site Core.
Its mere presence caused colossal chains to snap in the distance in silence. Moments later, a shattering sound blasted through the world, leaving the Moons, especially the Demi-Humans, to wince in agony.
“Do you see it well, Child of Typhon? Or do you prefer to be called a Sovereign Child? A Faint Glimmer?”
“What… Is that?”
Cer failed to comprehend her question. Her awe turned into shock. A tinge of terror then followed as she stared into the violet glow of a mechanical worm so large that it defied all reason.
She could sense Light inside of it. An immense amount as well. But it wasn’t just from one source. But rather, it was millions, if not hundreds of millions of tiny sources of Light that gave off the illusion of a singular source.
It was comprised of hundreds of spiked segments that allowed it to burrow through the earth, and its head was a hollow maw with a vibrant violet glow.
Orbiting it were miniature moons, each dripping with the same red slurry that fueled it.
The violet light distorted as a gravity well formed in the center of its maw.
It fluctuated as it spoke in a hollow voice.
“Cracking the Site Core.”
“As you have ordained.”
“Within this Site Core resides another great fruit of possibilities waiting to be harvested.”
//////// < EXTREME WARNING > ////////
< UNPRECEDENTED IMPURITAS THREAT DETECTED >
Its presence was nothing like any other Impuritas Cer had ever seen before.
Could it even be called an Impuritas when it carried far more sway than even a Heart of the City?
“Your eyes do not deceive you. Child. Ensure that one does not reach the contents of the Site Core. If it does, then it is your duty to defend it.” The White Horseman left that thing to her alone. “I must not touch it.”
“Status!”
Cer’s face blanched momentarily.

This wasn’t a run of the mill Impuritas. Not even a minion.
What Cer was facing was the very head of Infecta Rot itself.
“A World Impurity…”
< A universal impurity. If a Heart of the City is decided by the emotional impurities of a city’s inhabitants, then this is manifested by the emotional impurities of the world >
It slammed its face into the side of the Site Core and its body began to turn.
It was gravitationally drilling into the Site Core.
Her target seemed easy on the surface. All she had to do was stop it before it could drill into the Site core.
However, the amount of damage she could do was her ultimate bottleneck.
Still, there was only one thing for Cer to do now.
“Jury’s gonna be done soon. Frost will be here eventually… I just gotta do my part! Will you be able to keep this Beholder here? Frost wants her alive.”
The White Horseman made a face that said: ‘No’. But the mention of Frost caused her to reconsider.
“Very well. If it is a request from the favored Frost, then I can comply. But if this happens to be a lie, I will rob you of your life.”
It was a promise.
“I’m considered Frost’s adopted daughter. You hurt me, and my mom will consider you an enemy.” Cer bragged.
“Then, Child of the Sovereign Star.”
The White Horseman raised a blade and pointed at the World Impurity.
Then, she placed a large paw onto Cer’s back, gently pushing her forward.
“Do not betray our trust. And whatever you do, you must not bite from the contents of the Site Core. You contain enough Light to remain immune to it I believe. Your heart has been hardened thoroughly.”
“Heh. If could resist Elysia, then what’s a little fruit or whatever to a Moon: no, me?”
“… To have managed to resist Elysia twice. It was unfortunate. But if Elysia could see you as you are now, beyond the veil of her Will… Then I am sure she would be pleased.”
Cer dashed off before she could hear the rest of these words.
Blades of light resumed bombarding the swarm of Impuritas as the machine overhead emitted another low-pitched whine.
“All impurities must perish.”
She commanded, and another brilliant beam of light consumed the Heart of the City.
