Nightblade (Darkest night)-Chapter 175: Sun god
A dark star streaked through the vast expanse of the lightless matrix, pulsating rhythmically with brilliant white flames.
Space rippled violently at its passing, twisting horrendously in on itself.
The dark star seemed to be in several places at the same time, the flames of its radiance illuminating the dark expanse with a chain of brilliant explosions.
The devastating explosions of white flames ripped through the dark abyss in its wake, the horrific impacts ripping through several thralls that were slower to react
The giant golden chains spanning the length of the matrix quivered at the figure’s approach, moving with a life of their own, some of them attacking it, and the weaker points in the nexus recoiling in fear.
With a frightening determination, the obsidian star continued its advance, setting the luminous chains ablaze.
The fierce flames surged across the chains, devouring them with an endless hunger.
Within moments, large parts of the giant nexus were rendered useless
With the destruction of these points, the gigantic nexus was slowly coming undone under the brunt of the furious star’s onslaught.
The tenebrous giant in the distance roared in fury, a pulse of his ancient will rippling the expanse of the matrix. The golden threads weakly stirred in a vain attempt at regeneration, but soon another wave of brilliant, immolating flames burned through the mob, obliterating them utterly and completely.
Several thralls lifelessly fell to the ground, their connection to Azaroth severed permanently.
The thralls broke apart and then dissolved into Torrents of darkness.
In the next moment, the invading Void stirred, pulsating with life.
With the weakening of the matrix, the Void World gained the upper hand in its insidious struggle that had previously come to a stalemate.
With uncanny tenacity, the Void World surged forward momentarily, pushing back the matrix and winning the battle for dominance in that brief moment.
Then a strange phenomenon occurred.
With a magnetic pull, the torrents of darkness gravitated towards the dark plains, sinking almost entirely into the starry Void.
With the absorption of the thrall’s consciousness, the dark star burned brighter, thebrilliants flames it was wreathed in becoming even more luminous and growing to several times their size.
At the peak of the ongoing anomaly, the star shuddered, and then the change came.
The pulsating white veins on its surface branched out, wreathing even more of it in flames.
The dark star paused, seemingly savouring the feeling of raw power coursing through its entire body.
Then came the roar.
An earth-shattering sound ripped through the matrix, compressing a large part of the dark space and several minions of the sinister entity within the wall.
Outside Morgan’s body, the wall trembled, then a massive quake reverberated through it, bringing the spectating youths to their knees.
Lucian stared at the inexplicable phenomenon in bewilderment.
"Just what is going on in there for it to have such an effect?"
The incoming wave of thralls was instantly incinerated, disappearing without a trace.
A number of the remaining thralls that had lunged through the space froze awkwardly, held in place by the unseen force from the horrendous explosion of power.
The thralls twitched awkwardl, then their limbs slowly stretched, compressing and expanding in on themselves.
The thralls imploded from the cruel force, dissipating into the darkness and immediately becoming nourishment for the ravenous Void.
Almost immediately, new minions took the place of the obliterated thralls.
With frenetic, terrifying speed, the dark star surged forward, casually ignoring them and their master’s roar and calmly flying towards the remaining weak points of the nexus.
The giant web pulsated, then rapidly morphed, sending several jagged, spiked tendrils spiralling towards the speeding star.
The pulsating star deftly dodged the barrage of attacks, then, with a soundless roar, plummeted into the centre of the growing mass of lethal spikes.
A devastating explosion ripped through the still-growing mass, abruptly halting its rapid expansion.
A split second later, the obscure star was already moving, lunging through the matrix in a relentless barrage of attacks against the golden nexus.
The remaining thralls surged against, moving and flowing like a gigantic Tenebrous tide.
The thrall merged over and ever again, fusing into one massive entity.
Azaroth’s form shrank a part of his collected consciousness, transferring to the massive creature.
The Wall of Truth’s tyrannical consciousness and will echoed through the still-forming giant, becoming a catalyst that accelerated the giant’s growth.
All around it, the darkness surged and roiled.
Massive tentacles sprouted from within the darkness, grabbing the thralls and forcefully flinging them towards the giant.
The airborne thralls dissolved within a certain range of the monstrosity, fluidly melding with it and adding to its already impossible size.
Within moments, an obsidian colossal Titan rose from the chaotic fusion, its very presence reverberating throughout the dark expanse with profane tyrannical pressure.
Morgan suddenly felt naked and exposed.
With the titanic creature’s appearance, Morgan felt several eyes focus on him.
Thousands of eyes fixed on him, staring at him, peering through him, and washing over him.
In the face of this overwhelming power, he momentarily felt exposed, powerless, and weak.
At least that’s how he should have felt.
But then a familiar voice rang in his head, reminding him of what had to be done.
"I am you."
"You are me."
The two halves of his consciousness resonated once more.
Discarding all other useless thoughts, his mind was suddenly clear.
Nothing else mattered.
All he had to do was defeat the foe in front of him.
It was that simple.
In that state of battle clarity, everything was clear.
Morgan felt his connection with the ever-present Void World pulsing, yielding to him, like an anchor ready to be used.
Within himself, Morgan felt Sarenus and Kazarax’s presence, his consciousness, and that of the two Void walkers momentarily overlapping, then merging.
For the first time, the sun rose in the dark matrix.
The white flames completely enveloped the entirety of his body, darkness gave birth to light, then the ethereal white flames turned a fierce golden.
With a resounding roar, the small sun rose to an incredible height and then fell.
A stream of radiant golden flames followed in its wake, cracking then melting the space around it.
With a horrendous explosi,on the golden comet plummeted towards the lumbering giant at a terrible speed.
In that moment, a fleeting thought flitted through Morgan’s mind.
A tale that his mother had once told him about a sun god and an ancient creature of chaos.
One that threatened to devour the Earth in its entirety but was always pushed back and held at bay by the lone god.
It was quite a strange experience.
At this unique point in time, everything seemed to move in slow motion.
Morgan stared at the creature’s gaping maw in amusement.
Even in that grotesque form, the self-proclaimed wall of truth still managed to appear smug.
Morgan’s gaze slightly turned to its gargantuan outstretched arm.
The massive arm was hurtling towards him, like a profane bballistaready to swat him to the ground like a fly.
At least he imimaginedhat was how Azaroth saw him in this moment.
Then there was the determination.
In his heart, there was no doubt, no uncertainty that he wouldn’t be able to surmount the wall that stood in front of him,, that was Azaroth.
He had to do it.
There was no other way.
It was kill or be killed.
A situation that he was quite familiar with in the most recent days, and one that he most often found himself in too much for his liking.
His eyes hardened, his entire body streaking forward in a seemingly suicidal dive.
A heartbeat later, the matrix shuddered.
Then tenebrous giant visibly shivered, then came to a stop.
Then a catastrophic explosion ripped through its side, sending shockwaves rippling through the matrix.
Space simultaneously contracted and compressed in on itself from the violent impact of the two beings.
Then, with a shudder, the giant’s side exploded outward, dissipating into Torre TS of darkness.
But a split second later, the creature began regenerating at a visible speed, the dissipating fragments of darkness flowing back into the injured side.
Without missing a beat, the avatar of golden fire attacked the grotesque creature once more, piercing through it with surgical precision.
Harrowing explosions echoed all around them, ripping through the matrix.
In Morgan’s eyes, the massive golden nexus had shifted with the giant’s appearance.
The matrix moved the massive web into the giant, using the creature both as an anchor and shield against the furious onslaught of immolating flame.
With every attac,k the creature would shift the golden nexus to a different part of its body, almost making vit irtually immortal.
Deep inside, Morgan snarled in frustration.
" This thing is capable of moving its Achilles heel..."
It was almost unlike anything Morgan had encountered. A creature that could shift its vital spots and figuratively sacrifice the rest without much harm.
In a sense, the creature was going all out on the offensive.
It was a dastardly but ingenious tactic, one meant to wear out the enemy in a long ,drawn-out battle.
Simply put, Azaroth was wasting time.
Time that Morgan didn’t have.
At the wall, his hand slowly began to darken, dark veins slowly creeping up the limb.
