Nightblade (Darkest night)-Chapter 194: Battle of wills
"Enough!"
Every talented person momentarily froze in their tracks, each of them trembling slightly.
An invisible force held them in place, barring their movement forward.
A lone figure stepped forward, his eyes shining with an ethereal grey light.
"That’s enough..."
Anthony pierced each of them with a strange look, almost in disbelief.
"I lost the fight. You all saw it. If any of you want to fight, you can fight me instead."
The grey light in his eyes flared with a brilliant intensity. He took out his elastic headband, slowly tying his hair into a small ponytail.
He smirked slightly.
"That’s, of course, if any of you think you have what it takes to beat me."
Brant stood still, watching him in shock.
" What are you doing right now? This is our chance to beat them, and you’re turning your back on us."
Brant’s face darkened in anger.
"What happened to you? What did he do to you?"
Anthony turned his scorching gaze on him, his eyes hardening.
" I lost. Plain and simple. And I made a deal. I like to think that I’m a man of my word. If you can’t accept that, feel free to go off on your own."
Brant stared at him for a few moments then sneered.
" You’ve grown soft."
Anthony raised an eyebrow his eyes gleaming with dark amusement.
He stared at Brant for a long moment then eventually began to laugh. He threw his head back and laughed clutching at his side.
A few nervous laughs echoed through the crowd of Talented. Eventually, he stopped, shaking his head slightly.
He wiped away tears of mirth, turning back to Brant.
"You’re one to talk. You pissed yourself at the sight of his power and you’re telling me I’m soft. Pathetic..."
Anthony chuckled staring at him in amusement.
" You’re hilarious."
His grin turned darker.
"But if you’re sure about what you’re saying, why not give it a shot? What do you say, you and me one on one?
Anthony took a step back rising his arms in a welcoming gesture.
" Here, take your best shot." he taunted with an innocent smile.
Morgan fought back a grin.
" Even after all that, he’s still a cocky, egotistical brat. But at least he’s on our side.
Whatever Kazarax did to him, it’s working..."
"Your body is in pretty bad shape," Sarenus quietly murmured.
"In case whatever he’s doing fails, you’ll find yourself with quite the unsavory odds if I do say so myself.
"No, I doubt that will happen,’ a deep voice said, the sound resounding through his mind. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Morgan frowned slightly.
"What is that supposed to mean Kazarax?"
Suddenly, Kazarax chuckled in a way that made Morgan’s hair stand on end.
"You see I made sure to make him one of your loyal soldiers, the Void Walker said with evident pride.
"That little condition that I convinced you to agree to. Well, let’s just say that’ss probably going to come in handy right about now."
Morgan’s eyes widened slightly in disbelief.
"What the hell? And he agreed to this on his own? Of course, it took a bit of persuasion, but in the end, he came around."
Just then Brant’s eyes ignited with a brilliant azure light.
" We don’t need you Anthony, not the way you are now. I thought you understood, but as it turns out, I was quite mistaken. We won’t make that same mistake again.
From the crowd of Talented, several figures stepped forward confidently, their eyes lighting up in unison.
" With this many of us, your ability can’t affect each and every one of us."
Brant sneered smugly.
" Do your worst."
Morgan grimaced, struggling to his feet.
" Well, it looks like a fight is unavoidable..."
You don’t need to push yourself in the state you’re in, Lucian muttered.
"Let us handle this."
Talia nodded, chipping in.
"While I’d rather avoid casualties I think we’re past the point of pleasantries.
Her smile widened darkly.
"Let’s get this show on the road shall we?"
Anthony pierced Brant with a cold, icy glare for a few moments, pursing his lips in seeming disappointment.
"You made the wrong choice."
The small group simultaneously unleashed their powers, then in the next moment, they all froze in place, unable yo move even the slightest bit forward.
Anthony dashed forward, slamming his palm into the face of the nearest assailant with concussive force.
"Too slow..." He murmured.
Lucian and Talia moved simultaneously, zipping forward at a terribly inhuman speed
In terms of purely physical attributes, except for the Biological type Talented, the scions were far superior to the Talented.
The two scions moved methodically dispatching each Talented on their that was frozen in place.
A split second later, Cassius lunged through the air, plowing through several of the Talented at a time.
"Weaklings!" He roared.
In fact several of the Talwnted weren’t weak, it was merely Anthony’s insidious ability holding them in place, trapping them within their own memories and making them see things that didn’t exist.
Despite his age, Anthony’s manipulation of his ability was quite intricate, far surpassing that of his peers, a result of the relentless training he put himself through to hone a single ability and push his mind to its limits.
Brant groaned then forced a step forward.
Anthony coughed, a thin line of blood streaming down his nose.
" For someone at your level, you’re remarkably persistent, I’ll give you that."
Brant activated his Ability with an agonized groan focusing it on the area around him.
The ground trembled in the wake of the pressure exerted by his ability, small particles of dust slowly rising off the ground.
But that was it.
Anthony grunted, his face turning red from the strain of grounding so many Talented in place.
Each of the Talented activated their power, the sheer amount of abilities being activated slowly increasing the pressure unleashed upon his ability.
A mad light appeared in Anthony’s eyes, his smile growing even wider.
" Ha...haha..hehe.."
He cackled wildly, turning his gaze on each of the resisting Talented.
The Talented screamed, the weaker-willed ones falling to their knees while grasping at their heads.
"Stop this absurdity, Anthony..."Brant grunted, straining to move forward.
"Absurdity?! You opened the door to absurdity when you decided to pick a fight with me, Brant," he said coldly, his eyes glowing with an ominous light.
" This is on you, so don’t even try to pin it on me. I gave you a way out and you insisted on continuing down this path."
After a few moments, most of the resisting Talented were on the ground groaning and wincing in pain.
Cassius casually dropped one of the Talented he’d been holding, turning back.
He reverted back to human form, casually flicking the blood off his wrist.
"Well, that was fast."
