Noble Pampering: Demon CEO's Relentless Entanglement-Chapter 678 - 674: I Look Forward to Your Gratitude (1)
After breakfast, Nolan Davis did not rush to the company as usual. He still sat on the sofa, drinking coffee and reading the newspaper, looking quite leisurely.
Because of a hangover from the night before, Eva Miller’s head hurt terribly, so after breakfast, she ran back to her room to sleep.
The servants in the hall began to leave one by one until only Sophie Smith and Nolan Davis were left.
"Aren’t you going to work today?" Sophie Smith was focused on watching Nolan Davis read the newspaper, unsure if speaking up would disturb him.
"Mm."
His answer was quite succinct. Sophie glanced up at Nolan Davis and found that his gaze was not directed at her.
She didn’t know what this meant. In theory, Nolan Davis had never been too indifferent toward her, but today,...
It was somewhat unusual.
The atmosphere fell back into silence, with the sound of Nolan Davis flipping the newspaper being quite clear.
"Um..."
"It’s been almost a month, hasn’t it?" Nolan Davis’s voice interrupted hers.
"What has been almost a month?" Sophie Smith didn’t understand.
"Before, didn’t you say you’d only stay by my side for a month? Did you forget?" he reminded her ’kindly.’
Sophie’s heart was blank; she had been searching for an opportunity to speak to Nolan Davis, but didn’t expect him to bring it up himself. However, even though Nolan spoke up, she still hadn’t figured out what to say.
Seeing her uneasily stirring the coffee in her cup, frowning slightly, looking as if she was struggling to speak, he unexpectedly still held onto a sliver of hope.
Perhaps, she would choose to stay by his side? 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Mr. Davis, thank you for taking care of me during this time..."
He gripped the corner of the newspaper tighter.
He didn’t want to hear those conventional words, and there was a slight sense of disgust.
"You think I’ve been good to you, have you thought about how to repay?" Nolan Davis’s lips curled into a cold smile, "Little Sophie, I very much look forward to your gratitude."
Sophie knew Nolan Davis would certainly disdain certain methods of gratitude, as he indeed lacked nothing.
"Mr. Davis, what do you want?"
She found herself asking something rather ridiculous: What did he want?
What she wanted to give, he did not want. What he wanted, she could not give.
"What I want, don’t you know?" Nolan Davis calmly retorted.
Sophie held her breath; his clear retort carried no emotion, plain and simple, yet inexplicably made her nervous.
"Mr. Davis, some things I’ve told you many times already. There isn’t any possibility between us. If... if what you want is me, then I’m truly sorry, I can’t repay that kindness."
"Can’t repay?" Nolan Davis’s eyes became even more filled with disappointment, once he had swore confidently to win her over, not let her return to Asher Land, but gradually, those vows were being undone.
Forcing her was one of the things he least wanted to do.
Clearly, staying by his side did not make her happy, even though he tried to give her everything best, including himself, she simply refused to accept it.
Time passed far too quickly; he hadn’t even had the chance to truly pamper her or love her, yet she was leaving him.
