The Phoenix Queen stared at Raphael as he stood in his doorway. For a moment, she had allowed herself to grow frightened, but she quickly swallowed those emotions.

"I'm not sure what you have against me and my family, Raphael Brooks, but you have made yourself a powerful enemy. I swear on my name as Maria Thornbatch, the Phoenix Queen, you will be repaid for what you have done"

Maria... so that's her name.

Raphael looked at the phoenix queen, whose face was flushed red. Not with shyness, as he had often seen from other women, but rather anger.

Things weren't going as planned.

"Regardless, what you have done cannot be ignored. You are a strong magic user, that goes without saying."

The queen adjusted her crown, as it began to tilt. She truly looked glorious and stunning.

Is she really the mother of Leofric? She looks no older than thirty years old.

Something about her royal appearance made Raphael want to conquer her even more. He wished to know what she looked like beneath her black uniform.

What colour underwear did she wear? What was the size of her breasts and buttocks beneath their garments?

He pushed his lustful thoughts to the side for the time being.

"I have spoken to Harmony, the Rose Queen. She told me of your... Exploits. It hardly makes sense to me, as she is a married woman. But that's beside the point."

Raphael couldn't help but feel satisfaction. Not only did Harmony enjoy their time together so much that she went and told one of the other queens, but she did it whilst still being with her husband.

The Phoenix Queen continued, ignoring the smirk that grew on his face.

"She also mentioned that you have other goals. To conquer the other four queens to exalt yourself above the school."

Just as she finished the sentence, she let out a small chuckle. She was mocking him.

Maria Thornbatch doubted Raphael, despite the fact he had beaten both her son and husband in battle.

"You think I'm not capable? Have I not proven my combat prowess already?" He proposed.

However, Maria looked Raphael up and down. It was as though she was weighing him on a scale.

"Strong enough to beat my family, perhaps. However, you're still a young man, full of naivety. If you think becoming king will be so simple, then you're a fool."

Raphael felt himself growing angry at the words.

It wasn't like him to lose his temper, not even for a moment, so he quickly forced himself to calm down.

Still, she dares to question my strength. Didn't she see the state I left her son in?

"And what's stopping me?" Raphael asked, struggling to keep the aggression out of his voice. "I've yet to face anyone in a battle that's brought me trouble. Not here, nor back home."

The Phoenix Queen laughed again. Then she leaned her back against the hallway walls, a look of complete smugness on her face.

"I'll tell you what, Raphael Brooks. Since you want to conquer me, which I'm sure you will never do, I have a mission for you. If you complete it, I will let you do whatever you want to me."

Raphael looked at her with surprise.

For her to promise such a thing means she that confident that I will not be able to complete this mission.

It made him wish to prove her wrong even more. The reward was worth the risk.

"What's the mission?"

"It's quite simple actually. Steal one of the Three Holy Blades from the Sword School."

Raphael stood there, confused. Not only was he not familiar with the sword school, but he also had one of the Three Holy Blades.

Maria must have been able to tell, as her smirk grew wider.

"The Sword School are one of the Five Schools that pride themselves on being the greatest swordsmen the people of Vailstone have ever seen. The Three Holy Blades are their greatest possessions. They are swords that are said to have the power of an SSS-Rank birthright, and are constantly passed between owners."

Raphael listened intensely as the woman continued.

"Of course, I could ask you to seek out the weakest of the owners, but that would be boring. There is a woman who owns the strongest of the Three Blades. Her name is Lillian Applehurst. If you find and steal her blade, not only will it be yours to keep, but I will also be yours to do with what you want."

After hearing the proposition, Raphael was filled with hundreds of questions.

Why does she want me to steal the blade?

Will she really hold up on her side of the deal?

Who is this Lillian Applehurst, and why have I never heard of her?

Despite having all these questions, he did not need to ask them to come to a decision.

The Three Blade owners were clearly powerful. Defeating them would not only increase his fame but would also earn him some notoriety among the sword school.

This will help when the time comes to conquer the Sword Queen.

The thought filled him with excitement. He had caught a glimpse of the woman before, and knew she was beautiful.

"Consider it done." He said in a nonchalant tone which caught Maria off guard.

"R-really? Just like that?" She asked with a stutter. She had expected him to resist, or try to negotiate.

The boy hasn't even asked for any information about them. Is he really that confident in his abilities to win? Maria thought to herself.

Raphael simply tapped into the presence of two beings residing inside of him.

Naomi and Rachael. The Black and White Dragons.

They filled him with confidence and comfort. Together, he couldn't imagine an opponent that could beat them.

"Yep," he said uncaringly. "It will be done as soon as I find her. And once the blade is in my hand, I will be coming back to you to claim my reward."

For the first time during their conversation, Raphael caught a glimpse of something that filled him with great pleasure

The cheeks of Maria, The Phoenix Queen. They had begun to blush.

Before she could say another word, he turned back into his dorm room and closed the door behind him.

I've won. It won't be long before she is mine.

All I must do is find this Lillian Applehurst and steal the blade from her.

The Phoenix Queen is soon to be conquered.
