The wind howled violently as Alice's snow-white hair billowed wildly, whipping behind her like an untamed storm, yet she paid no mind to the chaos surrounding her. Her icy eyes glowed with an unnatural frost, and the sword in her grip pulsed with cold energy, a frigid aura seeping into the very air around her. The moment she finished tying her hair back, the battlefield seemed to hold its breath—as if even the raging Gorvaks sensed the change.

Then, in a single heartbeat, she vanished.

No—she didn't disappear. She was simply too fast.

A streak of silver and white tore through the battlefield like a ghostly specter. The only evidence of her presence was the chilling wave of frost left in her wake, and the Gorvaks that stood in her path suddenly found themselves frozen mid-motion, their monstrous forms locked in thick ice. Before they could even process what had happened, their bodies shattered into countless shards as she moved past them.

It was carnage, but elegant, like a dancer moving through a deadly performance. None could match her speed. None could match her strength.

The warriors watching from behind the defensive lines were struck speechless.

"H-How… is she so fast?" one of them stammered, gripping his weapon tighter as his eyes struggled to follow her movements.

"She's not just fast," another muttered, his voice laced with awe and disbelief. "She's unstoppable."

Meanwhile, Bella hovered high above the battlefield, her long hair flowing as she stared down at the approaching horde, her expression grim. The scene below was horrifying—a seemingly endless tide of Gorvaks poured in from all directions, their monstrous forms blotting out the ground. Their sheer numbers were overwhelming, far worse than they had anticipated.

She murmured under her breath, her voice barely above a whisper. "…Why are there so many? They just keep coming…"

Her mind raced, strategizing as she scanned the battlefield. Below, the warriors had formed a defensive ring around the cave entrance, holding their ground against the relentless waves of creatures. But it wouldn't be enough. Not like this.

Her gaze hardened. If they didn't take control of the battlefield soon, they would all be swallowed by this endless tide.

She clenched her fists and, with a sharp breath, projected her voice over the battlefield.

"We need to separate! Alice, Amara, you two take different fronts! I'll take another! We need to spread out and hold the line!"

Without hesitation, Alice flashed to a new section of the battlefield, leaving behind a frozen graveyard where she had just been.

At another location, warriors struggled desperately, their defenses crumbling under the sheer weight of the oncoming Gorvaks. They were being pushed back.

Cries of pain rang through the battlefield, and for a moment, despair threatened to take root.

Then—a shift.

A sharp drop in temperature. A whisper of wind. A creeping frost.

And then—silence.

The Gorvaks that had been forcing them back froze in place, their snarling expressions locked in time. In the next instant, cracks formed, spreading like veins of white lightning across their stiffened bodies. Then, with a single movement—**a brush of a hand, a flick of a sword—**they shattered, crumbling into nothing more than lifeless ice.

Alice slid to a stop in front of them, her sword gleaming with frost, her eyes glowing like two frozen stars.

The warriors who had been barely holding on gasped in disbelief, staring at her as if she were something otherworldly.

One of them tightened his grip on his weapon, his exhausted expression replaced by something fierce. Determination.

"She's fighting with us."

And just like that, their morale surged.

Nobody was thinking about Nate's incident, or the rift it had caused within their group. None of that mattered now.

All they cared about was survival.

And as long as Alice stood among them, they believed they could win.

Alice raised her sword, her breath forming mist in the cold air, and her lips curled into a fearless grin.

"Bring it on."

---

Meanwhile, on another part of the battlefield…

The warriors stationed there had stopped fighting. Not because they had given up—but because they were too stunned to move.

They were witnessing something that shouldn't have been possible.

Ryder.

A warrior known not for elemental abilities, but for his raw, monstrous strength.

And right now—he was slaughtering the Gorvaks like they were nothing.

His full armor radiated power, glowing with an almost divine energy. Every movement he made was a testament to pure destruction.

With one hand, he grabbed a Gorvak and hurled it into a group of others, sending them all crashing to the ground. With the other, he swung his fist—not even making direct contact, but still, the sheer force of his punch sent a shockwave ripping through the air, obliterating everything in its path.

The warriors standing behind him could only watch in awe and horror.

One of them swallowed hard. "…That's not human strength."

Another whispered, voice trembling, "…I heard rumors about him before. I thought they were exaggerating."

All around Madison, chaos reigned. The sounds of battle clashed violently in her ears—the sharp ring of metal against the hardened hide of the Gorvaks, the desperate shouts of fighters, the snarls and growls of the relentless creatures surging forward like an unstoppable tide. No matter how many they cut down, no matter how many fell to the combined power of their weapons and abilities, more just kept coming.

Her eyes darted across the battlefield, quickly assessing the situation. Ryder, fully armored, swung his massive blade with force, cutting through two creatures at once. Nearby, Bella used her telekinesis to hurl boulders into the swarming beasts, crushing them under their weight. Amara, a whirlwind of fire, torched any Gorvak that got too close. And Sam—Sam blurred in and out of existence, weaving illusions that distracted and misled their enemies, giving others the chance to strike.

Yet despite their efforts, the Gorvaks weren't thinning.

Madison's grip on her bow tightened as she fired another three energy arrows into the crowd. The glowing projectiles pierced through their targets, but more creatures took their place immediately. It didn't make sense. The number should be dropping by now.

She turned her head, searching for Alice, and spotted her not far away, supporting the others with precise, ice-cold attacks.

"Alice!" Madison called, her voice carrying over the din of battle.

Alice immediately responded, dodging an incoming Gorvak swipe before freezing its legs solid, then shattering it with a follow-up strike. She moved swiftly to Madison's side.

"What is it?" Alice asked, breathing heavily but still alert.

Without another word, Madison grabbed Alice by the arm, and in the blink of an eye, they vanished.

They reappeared at the highest vantage point available, standing atop a rocky outcrop overlooking the battlefield. From up there, the entire scope of the fight stretched beneath them, a chaotic storm of warriors clashing against the unending wave of Gorvaks.

Madison pointed toward the distance, where the dust clouds rose heavily into the sky.

"Look over there," she said, her voice serious. "Don't you think it's strange how the dust only starts from that point? The Gorvaks aren't appearing from everywhere—they're only coming from that specific spot."

Alice narrowed her eyes, focusing on the area Madison indicated. Now that she looked closely, Madison was right.

If the Gorvaks had truly been marching from somewhere far away, then the dust should have stretched further back. But instead, it only began at that one location.

Alice's gaze shifted beyond that point, to the treeline just past the battlefield. Something else stood out to her.

"And the trees..." she murmured, furrowing her brows. "The ones beyond that area—they're untouched. Everything past that point looks... untouched, like nothing ever moved through there."

Madison nodded. "Exactly. It's like they're spawning from somewhere."

Alice's breath caught. That was it.

"Then that means—"

"There's a portal," Madison finished for her. "And we need to shut it down."

Alice met Madison's determined gaze and nodded firmly.

"Then let's go."

And in the next instant, they disappeared.

When they reappeared, they stood right at the source of the chaos.

Down below, nestled between the trees and partially obscured by the dust and debris of battle, a swirling portal stood wide open. From its shifting, glowing surface, the Gorvaks poured out, their snarling forms stepping into the world one after another, unending.

Madison and Alice stared down at it.

This was it.

The reason the battle wasn't ending.

The true source of the invasion.
