Oh No, Daddy Sent Me To The Beast World!-Chapter 29: What if his wound gets worse? What if he catches a cold?
Mu Qingyi looked at Lin Huahua, then looked at Hu Baiyu, then looked back at Lin Huahua again.
For a moment, even his usually calm deer face showed a rare blank look.
It really could not be blamed on him.
Lin Huahua was standing there with her hands on her hips, her small face tight with anger, her brown eyes round and bright, and because she was already tiny to begin with, the whole scene looked less like a female scolding someone and more like a little white rat standing up on two feet and trying very hard to discipline three large beasts at once.
Cute.
Too cute.
So cute that the seriousness of her words got crushed the moment they left her mouth.
But Lin Huahua herself did not know that.
She was still full of righteous anger.
"Do you know how badly he is injured?" Lin Huahua said as she pointed at Hu Baiyu, her voice rising higher the more she spoke. "He already went on such a dangerous trip before because of some rare stones. He came back hurt like this, and I already told you to make sure he stayed inside and rested properly. Yet you still let him sit outside in the cold for so long. What if his wound gets worse? What if he catches a cold?"
The moment the words "catches a cold" came out, the air became strangely quiet.
Very quiet.
So quiet that even the fire crackling inside the cave seemed louder.
Lin Huahua blinked.
Then she looked around and saw that all three males were staring at her.
Feng Yiren was leaning there with his arms crossed, but the expression on his handsome face had become very strange.
Mu Qingyi’s calm eyes had widened just a little.
Even Hu Baiyu, who had just been blushing from happiness, now looked at her with a confused softness, as if he had heard something both shocking and adorable.
Lin Huahua frowned. "What?"
The three males still did not speak.
To be more exact, one could not speak, one was too amused to speak, and one did not know how to explain this without laughing.
It had to be known that they were beastmen.
Huge beastmen.
Tall, strong, thick skinned, hard boned, full of strength, the kind that could run through the forest barefoot, fight wild beasts, sleep on stone, and still wake up looking perfectly fine.
Catching a cold?
That was something females were protected from.
That was something tiny cubs might suffer from.
No female in this tribe, not even the softest and most delicate one, would look at a full grown male beastman and worry that he would sit outside too long and come down with a sniffly nose.
That thought was so strange that for a moment none of them even knew how to react.
Feng Yiren was the first to lose.
The fox lowered his head and bit his lip, but his shoulders still shook once.
Then twice. His red eyes curved. He was trying not to laugh. He really was trying. But this little rat was too much. Too, too much.
Mu Qingyi also pressed his lips together. He wanted to answer her properly. He truly did. But when he looked at her standing there all puffed up and fierce, like a tiny white rice ball of anger, and remembered that she was seriously worrying that Hu Baiyu might catch a cold, his heart softened so much that the laugh rising in his chest became impossible to suppress.
As for Hu Baiyu, his lion ears perked up with amusement and excitement. To him, he never knew his little female could be this interesting.
No female had ever worried about him like this.
Not once.
Not ever.
The concern itself was already enough to make his chest warm.
The fact that her concern was so oddly soft and silly only made it even harder for him to look away from her.
Lin Huahua looked from one male to another and immediately felt offended.
Why were they all looking at her like that?
She was being serious!
She had every right to be serious!
Did they think this was funny?
Her little face became even more severe. Then she stamped her foot lightly on the ground.
"I am talking to you properly," she said, sounding even more aggrieved now. "Why are all of you making such strange faces? I am worried for him!"
That was the final blow.
Mu Qingyi finally let out a quiet laugh.
He quickly lifted one hand to cover his mouth, but it was too late.
Feng Yiren turned his face to the side and laughed openly, without even trying to hide it anymore.
Only Hu Baiyu held back, but the smile in his eyes became so bright that it was even more obvious than laughter.
Lin Huahua was so angry that her cheeks puffed up.
This was too much.
This was truly too much.
She was here trying to teach them to take care of themselves properly, and instead of feeling ashamed, they were actually laughing at her.
She looked just like a little rat whose nuts had been stolen.
Mu Qingyi saw that she was really about to get upset now, so he quickly walked closer and bent slightly, his voice gentle.
"I’m sorry," he said warmly. "I will pay more attention next time."
As he said that, perhaps because the mood was too soft, perhaps because she looked too cute standing there in a puff, or perhaps because his deer instincts simply moved before his mind could stop them, Mu Qingyi lifted his hand and lightly patted her head.
Pat. Pat.
The movement was soft.
Very soft.
It was even careful.
But the moment his palm touched her hair, Mu Qingyi froze.
Completely froze.
The smile on his face disappeared for a second.
His heart dropped straight down.
He had touched her. Without permission.
In the past, this would have been enough for the old Lin Huahua to explode on the spot.
Even if one of them stood too close to her for too long, she would scold them with disgust. If she was in a bad mood, she might even call for guards.
