Lin Huahua made even Hu Baiyu shocked. They had never seen her react like this before. If fact she should have been nonchalant.

But instead she made the bleeding Hu Baiyu lay on her special fur hide that she never let any of the males near before in the past.

Even Hu Baiyu had tried resisting because he knew how much Lin Huahua forbid them from being around her hides for sleeping.

But now he lay on it he did not know how to react. His eyes kept drifting to the equally confused Feng Yiren.

But Lin Huahua did not mind them. Instead she was panicking.

Lin Huahua was simply scared as she thought that if she was late then Hu Baiyu would end up dead.

But instead of answering, Hu Baiyu shook his head softly. His eyes looked calm even though his body was trembling from the pain. Then he squeezed Lin Huahua’s hand twice, slowly and very gently.

Lin Huahua blinked in confusion. "What are you trying to say?"

Hu Baiyu’s grip tightened a little. He brought her hand up to his chest and held it there, right over his heart. His eyes softened in a way that told her everything he wanted to say.

Lin Huahua immediately realize that he was trying to tell her not to cry and that he would be fine.

He was trying to tell her that she should not be scared.

Lin Huahua finally understood. "You... you want me to stop crying?" Her voice sounded small as she stared at him.

Hu Baiyu nodded slowly.

Then Lin Huahua waited for him to speak. She waited and waited, but not a single sound came out of his mouth. Not even a whisper. Not even a small breath shaped into words.

"Why are you not talking? You are scaring me." Lin Huahua spoke again and leaned closer to him.

But Hu Baiyu only gave her a sad smile. His throat moved as if he wanted to form a word, but nothing came out. He lifted his other hand and placed it gently on his own neck, then shook his head.

Lin Huahua froze as the realization finally hit her. She quickly checked her memory.

"You... you cannot talk?" Lin Huahua whispered.

Hu Baiyu lowered his eyes and nodded once.

Her heart squeezed painfully because this was the first time she realized how much he must have suffered. She wanted to ask him more questions, but before she could even speak...

A soft voice echoed in her head.

Lin Huahua jumped slightly at the sudden voice, and Hu Baiyu blinked as he watched her expression shift from shock to determination.
