Solstice acted like she was just strolling casually while there are others checking what Adrian and Lycan’s location was. They knew that this beautiful maiden was with two other guys, but they looked like middle class people. They even thought that Solstice was a noble in disguise with her two guards being Adrian and Lycan.

The vampires immediately scrapped that idea as they saw the two men leave the fair maiden alone. The vampires then thought that the three might be childhood friends from a rural village that went to the capital to find work. The vampires thought that this would be the most feasible as they observed Solstice asking all of the vendors and merchants that she sees.

"We can try and entice her with a job. Go to the alley and wait for me to get her." One of the vampires stated as he vanished.

"It seems that you are new around here." A vampire that disguised itself as human stated as he went near Solstice as soon as the number of people were no longer as dense.

"Yes. I am new here and I also came with my companions. We are all going to find a job in the city which is why we had to be brave and travel here." Solstice stated as she faked the scenario since the vampire before her was giving her a setting she can work with.

"Is that so? I noticed you talking to all the vendors and merchants in the area which is why I came to say hello. It seems that they do not need any assistants for now which is why you look so down." The vampire stated.

"Yes. I asked all over the place, but no one needs a helper. Maybe I can try my luck on the middle area tomorrow. Our village was quite rural which is why we went to the slums since the situation there is just like ours. Who knew that they did not need helpers?" Solstice stated with a sad face.

"If that is the case then would you like to accept my offer. I am Joaquin and I run a small merchant group. My previous assistant suddenly got married and now I am without an educated help. If you tell me that you can read and write, then I will hire you on the spot." Joaquin stated.

"Really! Sorry as I did not introduce myself. My name is Lise, and I came with my two childhood friends here for work. I know how to read and write but I am not a master at it. I can make up what is lacking with enthusiasm though." Solstice stated and put on an act that could convince even investigators.

"Being able to read and write is all the help that I need. The only problem is that the pay is only ten silver coins per day. If that is fine with you then I can hire you on the spot." Joaquin stated with a smile, but he was celebrating deep inside as he could present a toy to the blood queen.

"Of course, you can. Some of the people in my crew are also retiring so training a new generation would be helpful. You can call your friends here and I do not mind waiting for you after a few hours." Joaquin stated as he also felt parched and wanted to drink fresh blood from enthusiastic humans.

"Before that, can I check on your merchant company first? The village chief told us to be wary of strangers and always check the place of work before accepting the job offer." Solstice stated as she wanted to quicken the scenario she envisioned.

"Of course! Our merchant group is located at the edge of the slum area. We are placed there because we are tending to horses and other small monsters since that is what we mostly sell. I can guide you there and then you can call for your friends later. If you want, I can send some of my men to invite your friends over as well." Joaquin stated with a gentle smile but deep down he was overexcited.

"I cannot believe that this dumb toy walked towards her own doom. I guess it is always the beautiful ones that are dumb and ignorant because they were treated like flowers growing up." Joaquin thought as he gestured Solstice to follow him.

"I cannot wait!" Solstice stated with genuine excitement.

"I cannot wait as well. I hope that you like my merchant company." Joaquin stated.

Joaquin led Solstice to a back alley with the excuse of getting something from a side store in that area. As soon as they turned the corner where the eyes of the masses cannot see, another silhouette appeared behind Solstice and then performed a neck slice on her. Solstice faked being affected and then fell to the ground.

"You should be careful as any damages to the toy will just anger the queen even more." Joaquin stated.

"That was faster than expected. I made sure to be delicate enough to not damage or kill her. To think that she is that weak that one neck chop could make her faint." The other vampire stated.

"Stop your yapping. Let us go as we need to present that to the queen. I hope she lets us have a few drops of blood before she gets killed." Joaquin stated as they carried Solstice to a corner area where there is a passage that leads to the sewer depths.

"Delicate, my ass. That neck chop was so weak that I could barely even feel it. I just overdramatized it and you think that all of you are top dog. I will relish it later when I kill the both of you." Solstice thought as she was carried inside a bag.
