On Our Wedding Day My Husband Announced His First Love Online-Chapter 124: We’re Already Together
"Theodore Grant..." I frowned.
"Let me speak first," Theodore Grant cut in.
"Chelsea, I’ve spent the last few days thinking everything over, everything we’ve been through. I was the one who pushed you further and further away, step by step. I have no one to blame but myself."
"But can you give me one more chance? This time, let me be the one to pursue you. You just have to stand still. Don’t leave me, and don’t turn your back on me. I’ll take the other ninety-nine steps. Please, don’t give up on us so easily, okay?"
I stared at Theodore Grant in utter astonishment, a thousand emotions swirling inside me.
The Theodore Grant before me was so humbled. In all my memories of him, I’d never seen him lower himself like this...
He was such a proud man.
Handsome, wealthy—a true golden boy.
Others had always put him on a pedestal. When had he ever groveled like this, begging someone for something?
Especially since the person he was begging was me—the very girl he used to treat with such indifference and disdain...
"Theodore Grant, I..."
"You don’t have to answer me right now." As if terrified of hearing another rejection, Theodore Grant quickly added, "Give yourself some time, and give me some time, too..."
I pressed my lips together, but just as I was about to speak, Theodore Grant suddenly turned. "Come on, let’s take a walk on the athletic field."
The athletic field at Sunstone Middle School had been renovated countless times by now. The original rubber track had been widened, and the bleachers in the distance even had individual seats.
Everything had changed so much.
I couldn’t help but remember my most humiliating moment—the school uniform jacket being draped over my head... 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
It was as if I could still smell the fresh, clean scent of soap on that uniform...
"What’s wrong?"
Seeing me lost in thought, Theodore Grant tilted his head. "What are you thinking about?"
I lowered my gaze, saying nothing.
’Sometimes I wonder if it was too rash to fall for someone just because of a school uniform jacket...’
’But isn’t that what being a young girl is all about?’
’Bold, sincere, and reckless!’
’Even if the person you like is just someone you’ve placed on a pedestal, someone you’ve imagined to be far better than he really is...’
"Chelsea, why did you like me back then?" Theodore Grant stopped and chuckled. "It wasn’t because I was handsome, was it?"
I gave a wry smile. At this point, there was really nothing left to hide.
Since Theodore Grant had asked, I didn’t mind telling him.
"It was because of a school uniform jacket," I said, looking up at him.
The smile on Theodore Grant’s face faltered. He looked a little confused. "A school uniform jacket?"
"Yes." I nodded. "It was when I got my period for the first time. During gym class, I bled through my pants..."
"I thought my life was over. I was sure I’d become a total laughingstock, that I’d be shamed in front of everyone..."
At this, I couldn’t help but laugh self-deprecatingly. "I was so naive back then, thinking my world was ending. But just as I was sinking into despair, a jacket was draped over my head..."
I looked up at Theodore Grant.
Even though things between us had gotten so messy, I still couldn’t find it in me to resent the boy who had helped me back then.
"Thanks to that jacket, I got out of that awful situation..." I pressed my lips together. "You probably remember, right? I washed the uniform jacket and gave it back to you afterward..."
Theodore Grant’s expression froze for a second. The smile on his face seemed to crack. "You... you liked me just because of that?"
"Yes." I nodded.
Theodore Grant shook his head, as if he couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
I saw his strange expression and how his face had gone pale, so I frowned slightly. "What’s wrong?"
Theodore Grant’s lips parted, but before he could speak, he caught sight of a tall, imposing figure out of the corner of his eye and his brow furrowed immediately—
I followed his gaze and saw Sebastian Forrest walking toward us, one hand casually tucked in his pocket.
"Senior Forrest?" I was completely surprised. I never expected Sebastian Forrest to follow me here. "What... what are you doing here?"
Sebastian Forrest came to my side, a smile playing on his lips. "Your aunt told me you went on a date with Theodore Grant. I figured something was fishy, and it only took a few questions to get the truth about your brother out of her..."
With that, Sebastian Forrest shot a sideways glance at Theodore Grant. "You really will stop at nothing, won’t you? Using threats and coercion... Have you no shame?"
"Sebastian Forrest, what the hell are you doing here!" Theodore Grant’s expression soured, and he practically spat the words through clenched teeth.
I glanced at Theodore Grant, confused by his sudden, intense hostility toward Sebastian Forrest.
"What’s wrong? Annoyed that I’m crashing your party?"
A corner of Sebastian Forrest’s mouth lifted. He glanced around, then clicked his tongue. "TSK TSK. You really went to a lot of trouble, huh? Bringing her here to reminisce about the good old days?"
"What business is it of yours?" Theodore Grant said coldly. "This is between me and Chelsea. It’s not your place to interfere!"
Sebastian Forrest chuckled, glancing over at me. His deep, dark eyes seemed to swirl with some hidden emotion.
The next second, he suddenly slung an arm around my shoulders. "How is it not my place? Chelsea is my girlfriend now."
"You—" The color drained from Theodore Grant’s face. He instinctively turned to me. "Chelsea, is he telling the truth? You and him..."
Compared to Theodore Grant’s outburst, I was perfectly calm. After all, Sebastian Forrest and I had put on this kind of show many times before.
This time, I didn’t even need a heads-up from Sebastian Forrest. I knew he was playing along to put on a show for Theodore Grant.
"That’s right," I nodded. "He’s my boyfriend. We’re together now."
"I don’t believe you..." Theodore Grant shook his head and instinctively reached for my hand, but Sebastian Forrest blocked him. "Theodore Grant, I’m warning you one last time. Stay away from my girlfriend."
"And another thing—" Sebastian Forrest narrowed his eyes, his lips curling into a smile that held no warmth. "From now on, you pull any stunts, you pull them on me. Don’t you dare bully my Chelsea. She doesn’t owe you a thing. If you’ve got a problem, you come to me."
With that, Sebastian Forrest turned to leave, his arm still around my shoulders. I quickly grabbed his arm. "Wait, my brother..."
"Your brother’s fine," Sebastian Forrest said.
"Huh?" I froze. "What?"
Sebastian Forrest glanced back at Theodore Grant, a smirk on his face. "Before I got here, I had Henry Paxton go get your brother. He should be back at your house by now."
I was overjoyed. "Really?"
As if my joy were contagious, Sebastian Forrest chuckled and gently booped my nose. "Of course it’s true. It’s the real deal, I guarantee it."
