On Our Wedding Day My Husband Announced His First Love Online-Chapter 139: Is President Forrest Pursuing You?
After Catherine Bennett left, I glanced at Sebastian Forrest, a little confused. I wondered what that "scheme" she mentioned was all about.
But, curious as I was, I still had a sense of boundaries. Naturally, I wouldn’t pry.
"What’s wrong? Why the serious face?" Sebastian Forrest asked, glancing up at me as he took a file out of his drawer.
"I don’t have a serious face," I denied stubbornly.
After all, it was his family’s business—and what’s more, it concerned the relationship between parents and their children.
It was best for an outsider like me to stay out of such things.
Once I took the file from Sebastian Forrest’s hands, I eagerly started flipping through it, my eyes growing brighter and brighter.
It was just as I’d hoped—a letter of intent for a film dubbing project with the Galaxy team.
And it even stated that if our first collaboration on the film’s dubbing was a blockbuster, we would maintain a long-term partnership.
This was an honor that not even Wind-Whisper, the top voice-acting company in the country, had ever received!
"How did you get this contract?" My excitement gave way to sobriety. Once I calmed down, I quickly realized that a newly established, unknown voice-acting company shouldn’t have been able to land a contract like this.
Sebastian Forrest must have traded something for it.
Thinking of this, I couldn’t help but worry. "You didn’t sign some kind of unfair deal, did you?"
"What? Afraid I’ll be taken advantage of?" Sebastian Forrest’s lips curled into a smile. His eyes, bright and deep, gazed at me, and his voice was low and impossibly magnetic.
I quickly looked away. "It’s just that a contract like this seems so hard to get..."
"It was indeed a bit difficult," Sebastian Forrest agreed with a nod.
My heart tightened. "You really did sign an unfair deal?"
"Not really." The corners of Sebastian Forrest’s mouth tilted up slightly. "I just shared some of the profits from a related research project. It’s nothing."
"That’s not okay." I panicked the moment I heard that and placed the contract right on the coffee table. "Then we’re not signing this."
But Sebastian Forrest grabbed my wrist and pushed me back down onto the sofa. "Don’t be so hasty. Listen to me."
"The truth is, I initially gave Galaxy some of your voice-acting samples. They agreed to cooperate because they were impressed. Otherwise, do you really think financial incentives alone would convince them to hand over such a huge project to you?"
I thought about it carefully and realized he had a point.
"But..."
"Enough with the ’buts’," Sebastian Forrest cut me off with a smile. "If you really want to help me, then do a great job on this project. It says right here, if the box office exceeds one billion, our company will get one percent of the net box office revenue!"
His words sent a jolt of excitement through me.
That’s right.
That was the most crucial part!
Besides, if the project was a massive success, the benefits we’d reap wouldn’t just be one percent of the box office revenue, but also renown!
We could become an even more famous voice-acting company than Wind-Whisper!
"Alright, it’s getting late. Let me take you home." Sebastian Forrest stood up. "Get some rest. You can look at it again tomorrow."
I nodded quickly. "Can I take this letter of intent back with me then?"
"Of course." Sebastian Forrest smiled. Then, as if remembering something else, he added a concerned reminder, "But don’t stay up too late reading it."
"I know."
...
The next morning, I was up bright and early.
Even though I’d been busy working on the digital document for the work plan until after ten last night, I still woke up feeling full of energy, as if I was pumped full of adrenaline.
After washing up, I drove straight to the office.
But as soon as I walked in, I saw several colleagues gathered around my workstation.
"What’s wrong? Why is everyone crowded around my desk so early in the morning?" I walked over, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
The group spontaneously parted to let me through, and only then did I see a bouquet of fresh, dazzling roses sitting on my desk.
I froze for a moment.
"Manager Joyce, is President Forrest pursuing you?" one of the younger girls asked, her face full of gossip. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
I couldn’t help but blush. "Don’t be ridiculous."
’But even as I denied it, I couldn’t help but wonder to myself. Could it really be that Sebastian Forrest sent the flowers?’
’But this kind of fanfare doesn’t seem like his style...’
"Alright, break it up. Everyone, get your work ready. We’ll have a meeting in the conference room in ten minutes. I have an important announcement to make."
Everyone already knew from the dinner yesterday that we were going to cooperate with Galaxy Group, so when they heard me say this, they all grew excited. They instantly forgot about gossiping over the roses on my desk and scurried back to their workstations to get busy.
Once the crowd dispersed, I let out a soft sigh of relief. I looked at the huge bouquet on my desk, feeling a bit troubled.
I’m long past the phase of being a young girl who gets thrilled over a bouquet of flowers. Besides inflating one’s vanity, things like this served no purpose. They were just troublesome and took up space.
And I had no idea where to put them...
Just as I was wondering whether I should put the roses in a vase and place a few in each office, I suddenly spotted a card tucked inside the bouquet.
I quickly pulled it out.
—*To my dearest Chelsea, loving you forever.*
It was signed: Theodore Grant.
Theodore Grant sent these flowers?
I pressed my lips together. And here I was, planning to put a few stems in every office...
But now...
I immediately picked up the entire bouquet, walked straight to the large trash can outside the office entrance, lifted the lid, and tossed the roses inside.
The whole action was done in one smooth motion.
A few of the young women near the entrance watched me throw away the roses, completely dumbfounded. When they saw me glance back at them, they quickly averted their eyes.
Ten minutes later, almost the entire company was packed into the conference room.
There weren’t enough seats, so some people had even dragged chairs in from their own workstations.
I stood at the head of the conference table, surveyed the room, and then smiled. "I have some great news for everyone. The next project we’ll be working on is a film dubbing for the international Galaxy Group!"
The moment the words left my mouth, the entire conference room erupted in an uproar.
Everyone started whispering to each other excitedly, their joy and elation written all over their faces.
"So, in the coming weeks, I hope we can all work hard together. Let’s nail this project and make a real name for our company!"
"Alright!"
Instantly, thunderous applause filled the conference room. Everyone clapped so hard it looked like their hands would turn red.
For almost the entire morning that followed, everyone discussed how to execute the project to perfection. They brainstormed together, and though the discussion was intense, they were all enjoying it immensely.
In the blink of an eye, it was noon. We had already drafted a preliminary work plan in just one morning, which was quite efficient.
"Joyce, want to grab lunch together? I actually have a few work proposals I’d like to discuss with you," Julian Hayes said with a gentle smile.
"Okay." I nodded instinctively, immediately gathering my things to walk out shoulder-to-shoulder with him.
However, just as Julian Hayes and I were walking out the main entrance of the company, talking, I suddenly caught sight of a familiar figure standing beside a luxury car...
