On Our Wedding Day My Husband Announced His First Love Online-Chapter 148: Go Get the Marriage Certificate
I was stunned for a moment. My first reaction was that I’d gotten off on the wrong floor.
But after checking again and again, it was definitely the 8th floor. More importantly, I also saw the company logo, so there was no way I was mistaken!
"What... what’s going on?" I hesitated to step out of the elevator and whispered to Sebastian Forrest.
Sebastian Forrest’s lips curved into a smile, but he gave me an innocent look and spread his hands. "I don’t know either..."
I gave him an annoyed glare. My intuition told me he was definitely behind this.
Just as I stepped out of the elevator, my colleagues suddenly poured out like a tidal wave. The sight was so startling that I stumbled backward. Sebastian Forrest quickly wrapped an arm around me, steadying me.
"Happy birthday!"
Just then, party poppers went off, filling the room with confetti. My colleagues cheered and shouted in unison.
I blinked, completely bewildered. ’A birthday?’
Wait...
’But today isn’t my birthday...’
I looked back at Sebastian Forrest, confused, only to see his lips curved in a brilliant smile.
It slowly dawned on me, and my jaw dropped. "You... is it your birthday today?"
"Mhm," Sebastian Forrest nodded.
I was filled with regret, annoyed at myself for having overlooked such an important event!
"Wow, why did President Forrest and Ms. Joyce get here together? Oh my god! Did you see that? President Forrest is holding Ms. Joyce!" one of the girls yelled at the top of her lungs, as if she’d just discovered a new continent.
In an instant, the crowd’s teasing cheers sounded like they were about to blow the roof off.
Mortified, I tried to struggle out of Sebastian Forrest’s arms, but he only held me tighter. "Don’t move. My wound hurts..."
"..."
’If your wound hurts, shouldn’t you let go?’
’Holding me this tight... he’s clearly not in pain at all!’
"Thank you, everyone!" Sebastian Forrest scanned the room with a beaming smile. "I’m giving the company a special day off today. Everyone can collect a red envelope with a thousand yuan from finance. Everyone who’s here gets one!"
"Wow! Thank you, President Forrest!"
"President Forrest, you’re the GOAT!"
Hearing my colleagues’ joyful cheers, I couldn’t help but smile too.
"President Forrest, are you and Ms. Joyce together?" Just then, someone in the crowd couldn’t resist asking the gossipy question.
Sebastian Forrest’s eyes sparkled as he smiled, and he immediately nodded. "We are!"
"Wow! A match made in heaven!"
"Have beautiful babies soon! Two in three years!"
Listening to my colleagues’ increasingly inappropriate blessings, I wished a hole would open up in the ground and swallow me.
"Alright, my Chelsea is shy. Everyone, go get your red envelopes. You have the day off, so go have fun."
"Thanks, President Forrest!"
As I watched our colleagues disperse, I finally turned to glare at Sebastian Forrest, my face flushed. "You... how could you tell them so quickly?"
Sebastian Forrest wrapped an arm around my waist, leaned down, and pressed a kiss to my lips. "Of course I had to. I was afraid you’d run away."
As he spoke, his lips gently brushed across my cheek, sending a tingling sensation through me.
Afraid he was about to start teasing me again, I quickly said, "Sebastian Forrest, happy birthday."
But everything had happened so fast; I hadn’t prepared a gift.
Sebastian Forrest reached up and gently tapped my nose. "Just words? No gift?"
"How could I have had time to prepare anything..." I pouted and glared at him.
I had no choice but to give him an IOU.
"Why don’t you tell me what you want? As long as it’s within my power, I’ll fulfill your wish."
"Really?" Sebastian Forrest’s eyes lit up, but they held so much cunning that I suddenly felt like I’d walked into a trap.
But at this point, I could only bite the bullet and nod. "Mhm."
"Anything?" Sebastian Forrest’s brow furrowed slightly, as if he were seriously considering what birthday wish to make.
"Mhm." I gritted my teeth and nodded again.
The corner of Sebastian Forrest’s mouth curved up. He tilted my chin with his fingers, making me meet his gaze. "There is one thing, actually."
"What is it?"
"Let’s go get our marriage certificate!"
"Huh?" I froze for a second, wondering if I’d misheard him.
But Sebastian Forrest continued in a low voice, "From the day I fell in love with you, I’ve dreamed that one day, that girl would become my other half. That I could openly introduce her to others as my Mrs. Forrest. I’ve hoped she would call me her husband, that we would be together in life and in death..."
Sebastian Forrest gazed at me with burning intensity, then suddenly pulled a sky-blue box from his pocket.
He opened it and slowly sank to one knee. As the box opened, a blue diamond was revealed!
I was so shocked by Sebastian Forrest’s actions that I was speechless for a long moment.
My gaze fell to the diamond ring he was holding...
It was the size of a pigeon’s egg, cut with dozens of facets. Even without bright light, it still refracted a rainbow of colors.
"Chelsea, marry me!"
My vision started to blur with tears.
I never expected Sebastian Forrest to prepare something so elaborate, and I certainly never thought he would propose to me on his own birthday.
But we had only just made our relationship official today. Where did he find the time to prepare and arrange all of this?
"My birthday wish is for you to marry me on my twenty-eighth birthday and become my Mrs. Forrest. Will you?"
I couldn’t help but laugh through my tears as I nodded at him.
Sebastian Forrest froze for a second, then a look of pure ecstasy spread across his face. He shot to his feet, swept me into his arms, and spun me around several times.
Startled by his sudden movement, I clung to his neck. "You... put me down! You’re still injured!"
Sebastian Forrest did as I asked and set me down. He laced his fingers with mine, his entire being radiating a bold, unrestrained joy. "Then let’s go to the Civil Affairs Bureau right now!" 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
As he spoke, he slid the blue diamond ring onto my ring finger.
I instinctively looked down at the ring, a symbol of love and marriage, and felt a wave of joy so overwhelming I was speechless.
"Let’s go!"
...
Ten minutes or so later, Sebastian Forrest led me to the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau.
As soon as we entered the main hall, I couldn’t help but stop in my tracks—
’Just a few days ago, I was here to file for divorce. Now, not even half a month later, I’m back to get a marriage certificate with Sebastian Forrest!’
’This is all just too incredible.’
’It’s like a dream.’
A few minutes later, as we walked out of the Civil Affairs Bureau holding the bright red booklets, my head was still spinning. I felt like I was walking on clouds.
’Is... is this real?’
’I actually got a marriage certificate.’
’With Sebastian Forrest, of all people.’
"What’s wrong, Wife?" Sebastian Forrest’s eyes crinkled with a smile, his dark pupils filled with that same bold joy. "You can’t back out now. You’re locked to me for life! You can’t run away!"
Tears pricked my eyes. "You don’t regret this?"
"Do you?" Sebastian Forrest raised an eyebrow.
"No..."
"Mrs. Forrest, my love for you..." Sebastian Forrest smiled and playfully pinched my cheek—
"Is until death do us part."
