On Our Wedding Day My Husband Announced His First Love Online-Chapter 156: Lena Leighton Has Returned
My gaze drifted downward, and my expression softened. "We don’t know yet. I haven’t deliberately tried to find out. I figured we’ll know on the day I give birth."
Julian Hayes smiled and nodded. "A boy or a girl, it doesn’t matter. As long as it’s your baby, they’re sure to be adorable and beautiful."
His praise made my cheeks flush. "You’re exaggerating..."
The smile on Julian Hayes’s face widened. "It’s true because I say it is."
Seeing his mood improve, I let out a small sigh of relief.
Julian Hayes quickly changed the subject, and we started discussing the voice acting project we were working on.
...
"Wow! It’s the superstar Lena Leighton! What’s she doing here? Is she filming a show?"
"She’s gorgeous! I think I’m going to faint!"
Just then, I saw a dozen or so girls in the café grab their phones and run outside, their faces alight with excitement. Many other people also stood up to peer out the window.
Hearing the name ’Lena Leighton,’ I instinctively looked up. Outside the café, I saw a woman in sunglasses and a mask walking our way, surrounded by a crowd. Even though I couldn’t see her face, her exceptional aura immediately drew everyone’s attention.
I was momentarily stunned.
’It’s Lena Leighton...’
’So she really did come back!’
’But—why is she here?’
By now, more and more people were rushing toward her, their faces filled with a suppressed excitement, like they had just won the lottery.
After all, she had just won the Oscar for Best Actress—an honor no one else in Asia had ever received. Lena Leighton’s popularity was at an all-time high.
Since it was nearly late autumn, Lena Leighton wore a thin, coffee-colored trench coat that outlined her stunning figure. She held a pen in her hand and was signing autographs.
"What’s wrong?" Julian Hayes seemed to notice my stunned expression and frowned slightly. "Do you know her?"
I finally pulled my gaze away and nodded. "Sort of. We went to the same school. She was a few years ahead of me. I know who she is, but she probably doesn’t know me..."
Julian Hayes smiled. "I think I’ve seen her on TV recently. She won some kind of award, right..."
"Yeah, the Oscar for Best Actress. She’s the first in all of Asia."
Julian Hayes looked away from the crowd and back at me, smiling. "I don’t think she’s as beautiful as you."
"Hayes!" I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "Don’t be ridiculous. How can I compare to a superstar like her?"
Julian Hayes smiled. But just as he was about to speak, he seemed to catch something in his peripheral vision, and his brow furrowed.
I looked at him, confused, and instinctively started to follow his gaze—
"Joyce!"
But just then, Julian Hayes suddenly called out my name.
I quickly looked back at him, completely bewildered. "What’s wrong, Hayes?"
"I just remembered, there was an issue with the voice-over from earlier. Come back with me and take a look," Julian Hayes said as he stood up.
"Huh? What was wrong with it?" I asked, puzzled.
’I watched the entire session this morning. There shouldn’t have been any issues...’
Just as I got up to leave with Julian Hayes, I suddenly heard the crowd outside erupt with a gasp. I looked over instinctively—
And saw Lena Leighton standing demurely before a tall man. Even though I couldn’t see his face, just the sight of his back made me think they looked like a perfect match.
"Let’s go..." Julian Hayes quickly moved to stand in front of me, blocking my line of sight.
I shifted to the side slightly and blinked.
Even from just his back, I knew who it was—Sebastian Forrest.
By now, Lena Leighton had removed both her sunglasses and mask, revealing an exquisitely beautiful face.
But Lena Leighton’s eyes were red-rimmed. The two of them stood there, eyes locked, but neither spoke a word.
Even so, the sight of them standing together was so captivating you couldn’t look away.
But it was Sebastian Forrest who broke eye contact first. He turned and started walking toward the café.
But Lena Leighton hurried after him. She seemed to greet him politely and then say something else, but they were too far away for me to hear what they were saying.
’Probably just catching up after a long time apart.’
"Let’s head back now..." Julian Hayes said, pursing his lips.
It was only then that I realized why he had tried to distract me earlier.
"Hayes, something’s come up. You head back to the office first."
Without waiting for Julian Hayes to respond, I walked straight past him and headed for Sebastian Forrest outside.
...
"Sebastian, long time no see." Lena Leighton’s lips curved into a captivating smile.
Since Sebastian Forrest had his back to me, I couldn’t see his expression.
But Lena Leighton’s gaze found me in the crowd and settled on me. She seemed to frown for a fraction of a second before breaking into a brilliant smile and reaching out to take Sebastian Forrest’s arm.
My feet froze to the spot. I couldn’t quite describe the feeling in my heart.
But just then, Sebastian Forrest sidestepped, dodging her hand before she could touch him. His voice was cool. "And you are?"
His words stunned not only Lena Leighton, but me as well.
Then, I couldn’t help but let a small smile play on my lips as I began to push through the crowd toward Sebastian Forrest.
Lena Leighton clearly hadn’t expected this reaction from Sebastian Forrest, but she still took a step closer, looking up at him. "Have you forgotten? It’s me, Lena Leighton... Can we talk?"
Now, the crowd started to buzz, clearly enjoying the drama unfolding before them.
But—
’No one here knows that this man is mine!’
"Lena Leighton?" Sebastian Forrest’s voice deepened slightly, as if he’d just recalled who she was. But his tone remained flat and emotionless. With one hand stuffed in his pocket, he looked completely casual and impatient.
"What is it? Do you need something?" Sebastian Forrest frowned.
"I just got back to the country today. You were the first person I came to see..." Lena Leighton said, her gaze full of deep affection for Sebastian Forrest.
"Are you crazy?" Sebastian Forrest’s brow furrowed. "Why are you looking for me? Do you owe me money?"
That one sentence shattered Lena Leighton’s mask of heartfelt emotion.
At that moment, the corners of my lips curled up. I knew Sebastian Forrest would never disappoint me.
Even though I had been worried sick about Lena Leighton’s return, I had quickly managed to compose myself.
The Sebastian Forrest I knew was definitely not the two-timing type.
’The so-called ’scandal’ with Lena Leighton back then must have just been a misunderstanding.’
Thinking of this, I smiled, my lips parting. "Honey..."
