On Our Wedding Day My Husband Announced His First Love Online-Chapter 18: Can You Help Me Get a Divorce?
I couldn’t believe that even now, Theodore Grant was still playing dumb with me.
It was just pathetic.
I turned and pulled another copy of the divorce agreement from my bag. "Sign it and get out. You’re not welcome here."
Theodore Grant’s face darkened, and he made a move to tear up the agreement again.
Before he could, I said coldly, "I have plenty more of those. Go ahead and tear it."
Theodore Grant’s hand paused for a moment, but he still tore the divorce agreement in his hands to shreds, flinging the pieces into the air. The scraps rained down, blanketing the floor like a layer of snow.
I turned, produced another divorce agreement, and said coldly, "Sign it."
Frowning, Theodore Grant stared at me as if he didn’t recognize me. "Chelsea Joyce, you were never like this before."
I laughed self-deprecatingly. "That’s right. I guess I’m just tired of pretending..."
’Back then, my love for Theodore Grant was so self-effacing. I catered to his every whim, living a life that wasn’t my own at all.’
"I’m not agreeing to a divorce." Theodore Grant didn’t even glance at the agreement I offered him. "Chelsea Joyce, you can just forget about it!"
With that, Theodore Grant spun around and left in a rage, slamming the door hard behind him.
A loud BANG completely cut him off from my sight.
I hadn’t expected Theodore Grant to refuse the divorce.
But I also knew that with his resources, if he decided to obstruct the proceedings, getting this divorce might not be possible at all.
Agitated, I grabbed a broom and swept the scattered paper scraps into the trash can. A sentence suddenly surfaced in my mind—
"Want a divorce? I’ll help you."
My movements froze. ’That’s right, Sebastian Forrest!’
I quickly pulled out my phone and found Sebastian Forrest’s number. But just as I dialed, it occurred to me that asking for a favor of this magnitude over the phone might seem insincere...p>But just as I was about to hang up and go see him in person, the call connected.
"Hello..." The man’s voice was low, like the deep, incredibly magnetic notes of a cello.
"Um..." I hadn’t expected him to pick up so quickly; it had only rung for a few seconds.
"Thank you for your help the other day, Senior Forrest. I was wondering, are you free sometime in the next few days? I’d like to treat you to a meal..."
"I am."
Hearing him answer so readily calmed my anxious heart a little. "Then... what about tonight..."
"That works."
I couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. "Okay, I’ll text you the time and place in a bit."
"Okay." Sebastian Forrest paused for a moment. "See you tonight."
I quickly replied, "See you tonight."
...
Since I was asking for a favor, I couldn’t pick a place that was too shabby.
So, I specifically chose an elegant Western restaurant.
"Miss, do you have a reservation?"
I subconsciously parted my lips to speak, but before I could, a low voice sounded from behind me. "You’re early."
I spun around to see Sebastian Forrest standing tall behind me. "Senior Forrest?"p>I had arrived half an hour early, so I was surprised he was here even before me.
"I just finished a meeting with a client nearby, so I came straight over." A hint of a smile appeared in Sebastian Forrest’s dark eyes.
I smiled. ’Oh, so that’s why.’
However, when I saw the host leading us toward the VIP private rooms, I felt a bit embarrassed. "Um, I don’t think I booked a VIP room..."
’It wasn’t that I was being cheap; this place was just too high-end. I’d eaten here with Theodore Grant a few times, but we were always in the main dining hall.’
’Getting into a VIP room here wasn’t something you could do just by having money.’
"I have a long-term VIP room here. It’s more convenient for us to talk. I hope you don’t mind?"
I quickly waved my hands. "Of course not!"
Sebastian Forrest smiled. "Good."
The warm light of the corridor shone on his face, making his eyes seem incredibly deep, as if a unique light rippled within them. He looked both gentle and languid.
’It was the kind of gaze that could make your face flush and your heart race.’
I quickly lowered my gaze. ’As expected of the man who, along with Theodore Grant, was once called one of the Twin Jewels of Kington University. A face like that alone is enough to captivate people.’
’But I was still trapped in the mess with Theodore Grant; I certainly wasn’t about to eagerly jump into another one.’
’Even if Sebastian Forrest was definitely not a scumbag like Theodore Grant.’
Soon, we were inside the VIP room.
Sebastian Forrest entered the room and draped his suit jacket over the back of his chair. I sat down near him, leaving an empty seat between us.
"Would you like some red wine?"
’I knew the caliber of this restaurant. Although I had prepared myself for the bill to sting, red wine...’
’The cheapest bottle here was probably at least five figures, right?’
’Still, I knew the saying: nothing ventured, nothing gained. Since I was the one asking for a favor, I couldn’t be stingy.’
I quickly nodded. "Yes, that would be great."
Sebastian Forrest turned his head to the waiter. "Bring a bottle of the lowest-proof wine from my cabinet. Also, an order of the tenderloin tips, the Hokkaido king crab and white truffle cold-wrapped crepes, the Wagyu beef soup, and..."
He paused and tilted his head to look at me. "Any dietary restrictions?"
"No," I quickly shook my head, adding, "I’m not a picky eater."
The smile in Sebastian Forrest’s eyes deepened. "Easy to please, then."
With that, he handed me the menu. "Order anything else you’d like."
’I had done my research before coming, but the dishes Sebastian Forrest ordered weren’t even on the menu. He was clearly a regular.’
"Then I’ll add the signature sturgeon and a French apple pie."
’One expensive dish paired with a cheap one. That way, I wouldn’t look too stingy.’
The dishes arrived quickly.
I had to admit, the dishes Sebastian Forrest ordered were all delicious and incredibly appetizing. Even though my mind wasn’t on eating, I couldn’t resist taking several bites.
"Alright, out with it. What is it you wanted me to do for you?"
Sebastian Forrest swirled the wine in his glass. As he glanced sideways at me, a shimmering light seemed to dance in his eyes, a half-smile playing on his lips. "Ready to tell me now?"
I didn’t expect him to be so direct. Not wanting to beat around the bush, I quickly put down my fork. "Senior Forrest, you said before that if I wanted to divorce Theodore Grant, you would help me..."
"Mm," Sebastian Forrest’s lips quirked into a slight smile. "I did say that."
I straightened my back, looking at him with a touch of anxiety. "I want to divorce Theodore Grant. Can you help me, Senior Forrest?"
"I can, but..."
Sebastian Forrest tilted his head, his voice drawing out the words. "Theodore Grant is a friend of mine, after all. If I were to help you, it would put me in an awkward position with him..."
My heart clenched as a wave of disappointment washed over me. ’He was just messing with me after all.’
’But it made sense when I thought about it. Given their history as the ’Twin Jewels of Kington University,’ their bond was stronger than that of real brothers. Why would he ever cross Theodore Grant for an outsider like me...’
