On the Day I Was Kicked Out of the Wealthy Family, I Had a Flash Marriage with a Tycoon-Chapter 113: Devoured by Him
Chloe Sterling returned to the banquet hall and asked a server, "Have you seen President Lockwood?"
"President Lockwood just left. I think he went toward the lounges."
Chloe Sterling immediately headed in the direction of the lounges. She stood in the corridor, looking at the two lounge doors in front of her. She called out Jasper Lockwood’s name, but there was no response.
She took out her phone again to call Jasper Lockwood. Closing her eyes, she listened intently. Fortunately, her hearing was better than an average person’s, and she quickly determined the ringtone was coming from the first lounge.
Once she was sure, Chloe Sterling walked over. The door was locked and required a keycard to open. She took out her phone, tapped a mysterious app on the screen, and then swiped it to unlock the door.
The lounge was like a suite, with a large living room and two bedrooms.
Chloe walked in. Jasper Lockwood’s suit was tossed carelessly on the sofa. Her expression changed slightly. She could faintly hear the sound of running water from the bathroom, along with heavy breathing. She quickened her pace to the bathroom door and knocked lightly. "Jasper Lockwood..."
Besides the sound of water, there was no reply from the bathroom.
Chloe knocked gently again. The bathroom door suddenly flew open. A large, ice-cold hand seized her wrist and violently pulled her into the bathroom, pinning her against the cool wall.
Jasper Lockwood’s hair and shirt were soaked. He had just been dousing himself in cold water, but his face was still burning hot and flushed. His bloodshot eyes stared at Chloe Sterling, a final sliver of clarity remaining as he fought a losing battle.
Seeing his condition, Chloe already knew what had happened. But she was wearing an evening gown and only had a small clutch with her; she hadn’t brought any antidote.
"Can... can you still hold on? I don’t have the medicine with me. I have to go home first."
Jasper Lockwood’s lips moved, but he couldn’t get a single word out. The gaze in his eyes grew hotter, as if it were on fire.
"Let’s go," Chloe said again. Her soft, gentle voice seemed to explode in Jasper’s ears. He instantly seemed to lose consciousness, violently lowering his head to kiss her lips as he ripped her dress.
"Jas— Mmph..." Startled, Chloe couldn’t even cry out. She instinctively raised her hand, about to use the Enchanting Fragrance, but making Jasper lose his strength and become immobile at a time like this would harm his body.
In the end, she closed her eyes and lowered her hand.
Consumed by the man’s ice and fire.
When Chloe Sterling woke up again, she was in the bedroom.
"Chloe, you’re awake," a man’s low, hoarse voice sounded beside her ear.
Chloe turned to look at him. Jasper Lockwood was sitting by her side, his face filled with guilt. "I’m sorry..."
Scenes from last night instantly flooded Chloe’s mind. Her face flushed, and she looked away. After a pause, she suddenly asked, "How did you fall for a trick like that?"
"It was a moment of carelessness on my part."
Jasper Lockwood had always been cautious and highly perceptive. But because the two of them had argued last night, he was in a terrible mood and distracted, which was why he let his guard down.
Chloe guessed the reason for his carelessness and didn’t say anything more.
"Since you’re awake, let’s get something to eat. What do you want? I’ll have the restaurant send it up."
"No, thank you. I’m not hungry." The moment she finished speaking, her stomach let out an embarrassing growl. Chloe was instantly mortified.
Jasper said, "Then I’ll just order a few things."
Chloe didn’t object. She shifted slightly, then frowned.
Her whole body was sore and exhausted.
Seeing her frown in clear displeasure, the light in Jasper’s eyes dimmed. He then picked up the hotel’s landline phone beside him to call the restaurant.
Chloe looked around but didn’t see her phone anywhere. After he hung up, she asked, "Where’s my phone?"
A look of embarrassment flashed across Jasper’s face. "Your phone... it got wet in the bathroom and won’t turn on. I had Henry Chamberlain bring over a new one. Your SIM card is already inside."
As he spoke, he handed her the new phone from the bedside table.
Chloe: "..."
After a moment’s pause, Chloe took the phone and noticed the time on the screen. It was already twelve o’clock noon.
Lunch was delivered shortly after.
Chloe got up, and the two of them ate in the living room. Neither of them spoke, and the silence in the room was uncomfortable.
Jasper wanted to speak several times, but looking at the woman’s indifferent face, he swallowed the words that rose to his lips.
Chloe ate quietly, not noticing his repeated hesitations. She had come over on her own last night and had chosen to stay, so she didn’t blame Jasper for what happened. However, she was still sulking over the words he had said to her.
’If I cared about Silas Coldwell, why would I keep my distance from him? How could I possibly be with Jasper?’
After finishing lunch, the two left the hotel.
Henry Chamberlain had the car parked at the hotel entrance. Seeing the two of them come out, he immediately got out of the car. "Second Master, Ma’am." He then opened the car door.
Chloe Sterling and Jasper Lockwood got into the car one after the other, still in silence.
Seeing that the two were clearly unhappy, Henry Chamberlain didn’t dare say more. He closed the car door and returned to the driver’s seat.
’He’d been called away to handle other matters last night. He never expected something like this to happen. Was that woman, Phoebe Sinclair, insane? Daring to use such methods on the Second Master—she must have a death wish.’
The car drove directly back to the Lockwood Residence.
Chloe returned to her room, while Jasper went to the study.
"Second Master, the Sinclair Family said they will give you an explanation," Henry Chamberlain said cautiously.
Jasper Lockwood stood by the window, his handsome face cold and grim. He pressed his lips together and said nothing.
"Also, Chairman Sinclair said he wants to see you to apologize in person."
Jasper said coldly, "I won’t see him!"
Although Phoebe Sinclair still had injuries on her neck and had even nearly died at Jasper Lockwood’s hands, she had brought it all on herself. The Sinclair Family didn’t dare to blame him; in fact, they had to apologize.
Chloe Sterling stood on her room’s balcony, gazing out at the vast estate, her expression also grim.
Just then, her phone suddenly rang. It was a call from Chase Langdon, and she answered immediately.
"Hey, Chase."
"Chloe," Chase’s voice was excited. "I have news about Master."
"What?!" Chloe almost dropped her phone, unable to hide the excitement on her face. "You have news about Master? Where is he?"
"Aeridor. Today at the martial arts hall, someone from Aeridor mentioned a miracle doctor there. From his description, I think it might be Master. I’m planning to go to Aeridor to check. Do you want to come with me?"
"Of course, I’m going!" Chloe’s tone was firm. "When do we leave?"
"The fastest flight from Crestfall to Aeridor is at 3:30 this afternoon, but we probably can’t make that one. There’s another one at 5:00 PM, which should be perfect."
Chloe’s fingers tightened slightly. "Book two tickets. We’ll go together."
"Okay."
After hanging up, Chloe thought for a moment before walking out of her room.
In the study, Jasper was a little surprised to see Chloe suddenly come looking for him. But there was something off about her expression. "What’s wrong?"
Chloe looked at him and spoke slowly, "Jasper Lockwood, I need to make a trip to Aeridor. I’m leaving this afternoon."
Hearing this, Jasper’s expression changed, and his breath hitched. "You’re... leaving?"
