One Night Stand With Alexander Blackwood-Chapter 113: Obsession Has Consequences
The warehouse air was thick with dust and arrogance.
Liam stood a few feet away from Serena, hands in his pockets, smile lazy — as though this were a casual reunion instead of a calculated abduction.
Clara stood close behind Serena, her fingers gripping the fabric of Serena’s sleeve.
"You really went this far," Serena muttered quietly.
Liam tilted his head, his grin widening. "You forced me to."
Serena let out a short, disbelieving laugh. "I forced you? Funny." She snorted.
"You chose him." His tone sharpened. "After everything I did for you."
"There it is," Serena replied calmly. "You keep talking about what you did for me, even when I tried to stop you."
Liam’s brows drew together.
"You never did anything for me," she continued. "You did things expecting ownership in return."
His jaw tightened.
"I carried your bags. I waited for you after classes. I brought you tea when you were sick."
"And I thanked you," Serena cut in. "I never asked you to. I never promised you anything."
"You led me on." Liam snapped back, his veins bulging.
Her eyes hardened. "No. You imagined something that didn’t exist."
Silence fell heavy between them. The men behind them shifted uneasily as they watched the confrontation unfold between them.
Liam stepped closer. "You think Alexander is better? He hides behind power, money and influence."
Serena didn’t move, didn’t answer... for a while. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
"At least he doesn’t kidnap women to feel powerful."
That struck Liam. His expression cracked, howbeit just slightly.
"You’re blinded," he hissed. "Once he’s gone, you’ll understand."
Serena’s stomach tightened as she listened to his words. "Gone? What do you mean... gone?"
Before he could respond—
A loud metallic crash echoed through the warehouse as the main doors burst open.
Bright white headlights flooded the space and heavy footsteps followed.
Liam turned sharply and just then... Alexander walked in.
He was calm, measured, and didn’t look rushed.
Behind him stood uniformed officers and several men in black suits.
The warehouse was surrounded.
Liam’s face drained of color. At that point, only one realisation settled. He had lost.
"How—"
Alexander’s gaze moved past him first and flickered straight to Serena.
"Are you hurt?" He whispered.
She shook her head.
Only then did his cold eyes settle on Liam.
"You should have stayed within your limits."
Liam forced a laugh. "You think this scares me?"
Alexander didn’t answer.
One of the officers stepped forward. "Liam Carter, you are under arrest for kidnapping, unlawful confinement, and multiple counts of financial fraud."
Liam froze as all the hair rose on his body.
"Financial—?"
Another officer added calmly, "Your company has been placed under emergency acquisition. All accounts are frozen pending investigation."
Liam’s head snapped toward Alexander.
"You did this." It wasn’t a question. It was a confirmation. Only Alexander could get this done in a few hours.
Alexander’s voice was steady. "You threatened what was mine."
"You can’t take everything from me!" Liam screamed.
"I didn’t," Alexander replied. "You handed it to me the moment you acted without thinking."
The officers moved forward.
Liam staggered back. "Grace said—"
He stopped before he could slip. But that was enough as Serena caught it.
"Grace?" she repeated softly.
Realization dawned too late in his eyes. He had been used.
Alexander stepped closer, lowering his voice. "Did you really think you were the mastermind? You were just a pawn in her game."
Liam’s breathing grew uneven as the handcuffs clicked around his wrists.
His empire... gone.
His alliance... alie.
His obsession... exposed.
As the officers began escorting him away, he turned one last time toward Serena.
"You’ll regret this."
Serena met his gaze without fear.
"No," she said quietly. "You just couldn’t stand losing."
Those words landed harder than the arrest.
Something in him shattered.
He didn’t fight as they dragged him out.
The warehouse fell silent with only Clara letting out a shaky breath.
Alexander crossed the distance in long strides and stopped in front of Serena.
His hands hovered near her arms, as if afraid to touch her too roughly.
"You scared me," he admitted quietly.
She looked up at him.
"I wasn’t scared," she replied. "But I should be the one saying this to you. If you had picked your calls, I wouldn’t have acted on emotions."
Alexander pulled her gently into his chest, one hand cradling the back of her head.
Clara turned away politely. Over his shoulder, Serena’s expression slowly shifted.
Liam was gone. But Grace wasn’t.
And now they had confirmation. This wasn’t over.
Alexander seemed to sense the change in her.
"I heard what he almost said," he murmured. "My mother."
Serena nodded slowly
Alexander’s eyes darkened — not with anger — but with certainty.
And somewhere far away—
A woman in a black hat removed her sunglasses and smiled faintly at the news report flashing across her screen.
Liam had fallen. Just as expected. He wasn’t entirely useful.
"Were you expecting it?"
"What do you think?" Grace scoffed.
"Then, why use him?"
"Because it was convenient." She replied, calmly taking a sip of the juice.
The man looked at her, confusion flickering in his eyes. "What do you mean by that, Mom?"
"Liam was just a distraction." Grace replied, her lips curving into a smirk. "The real game is about to begin." Her eyes flashed with something in them, and those eyes spelt danger.
Sam looked at his mom, and for the first time, he felt something different... something strange.
"Mom, don’t you think we’ve gone too far? Now that I think about it, I’m actually not entitled to all of these. I’m not even his real son." Sam whispered.
Grace’s face changed. "Don’t even think about something like that!" She snapped. "All of these should be yours. You’d have been Thomas’s son if I didn’t mistake Thomas for another man. And could I be blamed? He still kept a relationship with his old flame. This is why Alexander should go!"
"I’m the legal wife. And only my child can inherit Blackwood’s wealth." Grace’s chest rose and fell as she spoke, her tone heavy.
Sam lowered his head but didn’t say anything. There was only one thing he knew — the line had been drawn, the battle was about to begin and only one person could win.
But who would take home the win? He bit his lips as a bad feeling enveloped him.
