One Night Stand With Alexander Blackwood-Chapter 33 — Thirty-three
My heart twisted, and it felt like my guts were about to be pulled out.
"I need to use the restroom." I announced, unable to handle the tension.
Liam turned to me with his brows drawn together. "Are you okay?" He asked gently. But something about the way he asked it caused me to gulp. His gentleness felt... forced.
Smiling, I answered. "You don’t have to worry about me. It’s just the restroom."
"Yes. It’s just the restroom. Stop being restrictive." Maya cut in, taking my side. She glared at Liam. Normally, I’d have told her to stop. But I didn’t know what got into me tonight.
My head snapped towards her, and I offered her a gentle smile. As always, she knew what was on my mind.
Liam’s lips curved upwards. "I’m not being restrictive. I am just worried about her."
"I’ll be back soon." Without waiting for any of their replies, I walked out of the private room. I was aware that if I remained there, I might not be able to make it out again.
Once I was out of the private room, I bumped into Alexander who seemed like he had been waiting for me to make a move.
"Serena, we need to talk." He demanded, with his eyes lowered. He kept a reasonable distance from me, so much that it hurt a bit.
But I didn’t know what was wrong with me or where I got my defiance from. I stood my ground, hands folded as I stared straight at him.
"We have nothing to discuss about. If you’d excuse me, I need to use the restroom." I walked out without listening to his reply.
Although my expression was blank, my heart and mind were in disarray. All of a sudden, I felt a sudden tug on my arm, and before I could understand what was going on, my lips were already covered by another lips.
My eyes widened as I struggled to pull away, but the more I struggled, the more Alexander trapped me in place.
At the end, I succumbed. Our lips moved freely as though they were made for the other person. Our tongues fought for dominance, each not wanting to back down.
After what seemed like an eternity, Alexander pulled away. He was breathing heavily while I buried my face in his chest. I was embarrassed, shy and I wished the earth would open up and swallow me. Fortunately, there were no people in this part of the club.
"What did you do that for?" The question slipped out of me after I caught my breath..
Alexander was silent for a while, before pinching the space between his eyebrows. "You are constantly on my mind, Princess. I am unable to focus as all I can think of is you alone."
My mouth widened in amazement. I was shocked to hear his confession. I had thought about a hundred and one reasons for his actions, but I’d never have expected his words.
"Y-you are joking, right?" I forced out my words with a stammer. I was unable to believe that I heard his words correctly.
Alexander shook his head. "I’m not joking." His tone was strong, his expression was neutral and his eyes were firm.
"I don’t know how it happened, but my thoughts revolve around you. I can’t think straight when you’re far away from me because I’d be thinking about you. I don’t know how it started, but it’s a feeling I don’t wish to end."
I was stunned, stood frozen while my heart raced at several milliseconds.
"Serena, I don’t know what’s happening to me. But I don’t want you away from me."
For the first time since I’ve known Alexander, this was the first time I saw a trace of vulnerability flash through his eyes. It made him seem more... human.
The only issue is I didn’t know how to react. And I did what I was best at—I ran away from him. He kept calling me but I didn’t turn back.
How could I tell him that I felt the same way as well? I was scared. I didn’t want my heart broken. We were from parallel worlds, and we couldn’t be involved with one another.
I rushed to the restroom, and stood in front of the mirror as my reflection stared back at me. My face was white, and my eyes were dull and sunken and they stated straight at me.
Taking a deep breath, I splashed water on my face. A few minutes later, after I returned to my cool calm, and collected self, I stepped out of the restroom while praying earnestly that Alexander wouldn’t be there.
Taking slow steps, I walked back to the private room. I heaved a sigh of relief when I found no trace of Alexander.
Meanwhile, when I stepped back into the private room, I was met with a heavy tension inside. Liam and Maya locked eyes as the tension crackled through the air like electricity.
"What’s going on here?"
My voice came out steadier than I expected.
Maya’s eyes flickered over to me, and I watched as relief washed over her face.
"We were just discussing some things." Liam answered.
"Catching up with each other would be the right way to phrase it, don’t you think?" Maya caught in, looking at Liam with a smile which was much more than a lovely smile.
My brows furrowed as I took my seat. Liam’s attention turned to me instantly, his eyes reflecting his gentleness.
"You were out for a while. It got me worried for a minute."
"I just... I just needed fresh air." I answered, with my head slightly lowered.
I felt an intense gaze on me, and I snapped my head up only for my eyes to make contact with Liam’s. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
He wasn’t just staring at me... he was assessing me. Assessing me in ways that made me feel uncomfortable.
It seemed Maya noticed that I was uncomfortable as she spoke up.
"Liam, I suggest you learn how you read the room. Your gaze makes her feel uncomfortable."
Her words landed like a warning bell.
Liam’s gaze shifted to her slowly. The gentleness on his face didn’t fade, but something colder settled behind his eyes. Something which I couldn’t pinpoint no matter how hard I tried.
