One Night Stand With Alexander Blackwood-Chapter 61 — Sixty-one
"I said, your precious and perfect son went against his principles... for a lady." Rhea scoffed at the end of her statement. She clenched her fists tightly while thinking about what took place yesterday.
Grace’s fingers instinctively curled around her phone. "Tell me the details." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Without any hesitation, she recounted everything which happened the previous day, leaving out the part that she was the mastermind of the kidnapping..
Grace’s face turned colder with each word Rhea uttered. Her grip tightened around the phone. "How dare Alexander take such a huge risk?" She asked. Although, excitement filled her internally.
If Alexander revealed a weakness, his enemies could directly attack him. She didn’t need to do anything, neither did she need to get her hands dirty.
But her tone was cold as though she was furious with his decision. After all, she still had to play the loving, protective and caring mother role.
Rhea snorted. "Grace, you have no idea how much Serena has Alexander wrapped around her fingers." She paused, her eyes glinting with something strange in them.
"If care is not taken, then he would stop listening to you. The control which you are proud of... you’ll slowly lose it till you eventually lose your son."
Grace’s expression changed. If there was one thing she hated and dreaded most, it was losing control over Alexander... even though she didn’t have that much control over him previously.
"Think, Grace," Rhea’s voice dropped lower, snapping her out of her thoughts. "Has he been listening to you lately? When was the last time he called you? When was the last time you both had a mother-son conversation. You are slowly losing control over him. If you don’t do something about it, then it would be too late."
Rhea’s voice was like a poison, plaguing and corroding Grace’s mind.
Grace was silent for a while as she seriously pondered over Rhea’s words. She was right... even though she hated to admit it. There was only one truth—she was slowly losing her grip over Alexander.
"I won’t let that happen. I won’t lose my control for him. As for Serena, their relationship won’t blossom. That’s a promise." Grace’s words were filled with pride, conviction and determination. It decisively brought the issue to an end.
"Thank you for bringing this to my knowledge." Without waiting for Rhea’s reply, she hung up.
Grace’s eyes flashed coldly. "I guess it is time to finally take her out." She was referring to Serena.
Sam swallowed, feeling a cold chill run down his spine.
Meanwhile, Rhea who had been abruptly cut off by Grace wasn’t in a bad mood. Instead, she felt excited. Her lips curled sinisterly. She would rather use Grace to take out Serena rather than doing it herself.
But before that, she wanted to deliver one final gift to Serena. Her eyes brightened sinisterly as her mind flashed with her future plans.
---------------------
The day finally ended, and Alexander dropped Serena off.
"Do we really have to separate?" He asked, blinking. His mouth had a pout as his eyes bored into hers.
Serena stared at him feeling speechless. It was as though he changed completely after their relationship was confirmed.
"You had something important to do. You said so yourself today." She raised her brows as she calmly said to him.
"But..." he trailed off, holding her hands. "I want to spend more time with you." His gaze was sincere, which melted Serena’s heart.
"How would you cope when I finally stop working in your office?" Serena asked with her hands folded as she chuckled.
Alexander turned silent. She was correct. There was no way he could cope without her. It was only then he realized that he shouldn’t have agreed to her conditions.
"I shouldn’t have agreed with your demands." He mumbled under his breath.
Serena heard his words, and she burst out laughing uncontrollably. Alexander gave her a pointed stare, and she clamped her mouth shut while staring at him.
"Let me walk you in." He offered. "That would make me feel more at peace." He said.
Serena was about to reject him but seeing his serious face, she gave in.
When they finally reached her apartment, Serena felt that something was off. She exchanged glances with Alexander who had a crease formed on his forehead.
"Something doesn’t feel right." He muttered, staring at the door.
"You feel the same way, right?" She stated. Although everything seemed and felt normal, there was this itch in her eyes. It felt like if she opened the door, there would be a massive change.
"Should I open the door for you?" Alexander asked when he sensed her hesitation.
Serena looked at him, and nodded. She was grateful that he was with her currently. She had no idea what she’d do if he wasn’t by her side.
Without any hesitation, Alexander pushed the door open. Both of them stepped in, and they were met with a strange and eerie silence.
"Strange." She muttered under breath. "Mama would definitely welcome me once she hears the door open."
Alexander looked at her, and his brows furrowed. He took another step forward even when his instincts screamed danger. The living room lights were on, but the space felt unnaturally still.
"Mama?" Serena called out, her voice tentative. But there was no response.
Her heart began to pound as fear slowly creeped into her heart. She dropped her bag and walked faster, her steps echoing loudly against the tiled floor.
"Mama?" she called again, louder this time. Panic crept into her tone. She was scared... extremely scared.
Alexander followed closely behind her, his eyes scanning every corner. When they reached the inner living room, Serena froze.
Mama lay on the floor, unmoving.
For a second, Serena’s mind refused to process the scene before her. Her legs felt rooted to the spot while her breath caught painfully in her throat.
"Mama..." her voice broke as she rushed forward and dropped to her knees beside her.
Alexander’s heart sank.
Serena shook Mama gently. "Mama, wake up. Please wake up." Her hands trembled as she touched her cold skin. "This isn’t funny. You promised you’d wait for me. You said you’d make a meal for me when I returned home today."
She pressed her fingers against Mama’s neck, desperately searching for a pulse.
There was nothing.
