One Night Stand With Alexander Blackwood-Chapter 73 — Seventy-three
Night fell. The city lights outside the hospital shone brightly while the nightlife bustle and had already begun.
Meanwhile, in the hospital, the room was cold and silent, save for the faint humming of the machines connected to her..
Alexander sat by her bedside, one hand holding her hand while the other held his phone as he studied important files.
Suddenly, he felt a twitch in his hand. He snapped his head up just in time to see Serena’s lashes fluttering.
Soon, she opened her eyes. Alexander’s tense shoulders fell as relief flooded him.
"You are awake, I’ll go get the doctor." He said, and was about to rise to his feet when he felt a slight tug on his sleeve.
"Stay with me for a while, would you?" Serena whispered softly, her eyes fixated on him.
Alexander’s heart tightened seeing the vulnerability in her eyes. He patted her hands.
"I just want to get the doctor so he can check up on you. You don’t need to worry."
"You won’t leave me, right?" She blinked, her expectant eyes meeting his.
Alexander’s eyes softened, sparkles appearing in them. "Rest assured. I won’t leave you."
"Okay." She answered softly, and finally let him go.
Alexander gave her one final glance before he walked out of the ward. A few minutes later, he returned with the doctor.
"Miss. Wilson, you’re finally awake." The doctor smiled as he approached her. "Mr. Blackwood here almost turned the hospital into chaos. Just for you. This shows how much he loves you."
Serena’s gaze darted to Alexander who had a blank expression on his face. But if one looked closer, they would see that his ears had turned red. Serena smiled softly as she answered all the doctor’s questions.
"She’s fine." The doctor finally said after he stepped back. "She only needs to stay the night for observation. She can be discharged tomorrow."
Alexander exhaled deeply. "Thank you very much, Doc." He shook hands with the doctor before the doctor walked out of the ward.
Alexander returned to his seat beside Serena. Holding her hands, he said. "You scared me today."
"I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have visited him." Serena apologized.
Alexander shook his head. "It’s not your fault you trusted him. He is only manipulative, and I’d ensure he gets his due punishment."
Alexander felt a bitter taste on his tongue as she spoke about Liam.
Serena didn’t answer him as she studied him. Silence reigned between them as their gazes were on each other.
"Where is he?" Serena finally asked, breaking the silence between them.
Alexander was silent for a while. He hesitated before answering. "He should be spending the night in the station." Then he added, "it’s up to you to press charges against him or leave him. What is your decision?"
Serena thought for a while before she responded. "Let’s leave him. On account that we attended the same college, I’ll let him go. But I won’t be in contact with him anymore."
Alexander’s hands tightened into fists. He was expecting Serena to give Liam a harsh punishment, but reality proved to get different. She decided to let him go. Just because they were college mates.
"Okay. But he needs to spend more time at the station. He needs to learn his lesson." Alexander insisted on this.
"Okay." Serena agreed without arguing. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"Rest. You’ve had a long day." He rubbed her hair. "I’ll be outside. I have to take a call. But I’ll leave only when you’ve finally fallen asleep."
Serena nodded obediently and closed her eyes. It didn’t take long before the sleep completely took over her.
Alexander watched her fall asleep, and his lips raised. Once he turned back, the trace of softness in his eyes disappeared, replaced with a lethal look.
He quietly left the ward and stood guard in front of the door. He dialed a number, and the call connected immediately.
"Boss." Sterling greeted once the call connected.
"I want you to deal with Liam’s company." Alexander instructed coldly.
"Liam? Who’s that?" Sterling replied, a trace of confusion in his tone.
Alexander rolled his eyes. "Liam Parker."
"Oh! I got it, Boss. That isn’t a difficult task." Then his voice dropped lower. "What did he do to offend you, Boss? You don’t target people who haven’t made a mistake."
Alexander’s expression darkened further when he was asked the question. "He touched what was mine. Fortunately for him..." his voice unconsciously softened as he thought about Serena. "...she’s a nice person and she decided to forgive him."
"I have a feeling he would cause trouble for her once he gets bail tomorrow. I want to keep him busy for a while so he doesn’t think about her."
Sterling listened quietly. If Alexander were in front of him, he would have noticed how shocked Sterling was. Sterling couldn’t be blamed. This was the first time he heard Alexander speak with such a soft voice.
"Are you listening?" Alexander suddenly snapped.
"Yes, Boss. I am." Sterling replied without hesitation.
"Don’t flop it, Sterling. I’m counting on you. I want to see Liam busy for the next three months."
Before Sterling could reply, Alexander disconnected the call.
Then—
When he was about to walk back into the lab, his phone buzzed.
"Mr. Blackwood. The results on the DNA of the hair are out. We know who the culprit is now." It was the voice of the junior officer from a few days ago.
Alexander’s eyes glinted with something unknown.
"Do you know his whereabouts?" He asked with one hand in his pocket.
"Yes, Mr. Blackwood." The junior officer answered. "I and the other officers have been sent to capture him. They should be back with good news soon. I only thought to inform you about this milestone."
Alexander’s expression finally softened. "You did well. Once he is in custody, let me know. I’d like to interrogate him personally."
"No problem, sir."
"One last thing, can you send him his profile. I have something I need to check." Alexander requested.
"Yes sir. I’d forward it to your email at once."
The call was disconnected, and a few seconds later, Alexander’s phone buzzed once again.
He looked at the information in his eyes, and he narrowed his eyes. He didn’t believe that Amelia was behind this. She was nothing but a spoiled brat. There was a conspiracy behind this, and he intended to find out what it was.
Anyone who tried to hurt Serena would have to face the consequences.
