One Night Stand With Alexander Blackwood-Chapter 83 — Eighty-three
"Serena, tell me. Was he punished for his actions?" Maya pressed.
"I didn’t do anything." Serena finally replied with her eyes closed..
Maya collapsed on the chair behind her, eyes going wide with shock. "You did nothing?" She repeated incredulously.
Serena nodded whilst still having her eyes closed.
"Why?" Maya demanded. She looked at her best friend as though she had grown an extra head.
"What did you expect me to do?" Serena shrugged. "I only let him go on account of the years we’ve spent as friends."
While Serena saw nothing wrong with what she did, Maya shook her head disappointedly.
"I need to have a word with Mr. Blackwood." She whispered under her breath.
Serena threw her a look. "What for?"
"To prepare more bodyguards for you." Maya spat. Serena raised her brows, confusion etched on her face. "What do you mean?"
"To protect you. You clearly don’t know how obsessed someone can be, right?" Maya rolled her eyes, then stared at the wristwatch around her wrist.
"Shoot!" She mumbled under her breath.
"What’s wrong?" Serena asked worriedly.
"Lunch break is almost over. I have to return to work." Maya answered, pouting. "I hate to admit it, but I’ve missed you terribly. The company just doesn’t feel the same without you around."
Serena’s eyes watered.
Maya leaned closer, looking around sneakily then quietly whispered. "Do you know that Ethan has a disease?"
Serena stilled, her eyelids twitching. "Disease? What do you mean by disease?" She had a hunch but she needed Maya to confirm it.
"That kind of disease. The one you don’t get by being faithful." Maya explained, her eyes unable to hide her excitement. "Honestly, I’m glad he cheated on you. You dodged a bullet there."
While Maya was rambling, Serena sat frozen on her seat. She still couldn’t believe it. Disease? Does that mean it wasn’t only Jessica? She was really blind to have loved him... no—trash for three years.
"Earth to Serena," Maya repeatedly snapped her fingers in front of Serena causing the latter to return to her senses.
"What are you thinking about?" Maya asked with her hands folded.
Serena shook her head in reply. "I was just thinking of how I dated him for three years and didn’t notice his escapades." She breathed out through her nose. "I guess it’s his karma." She shrugged at the end of her words.
Maya nodded. "Alright, I need to go. How about we hang out tonight? We haven’t hung out in a long while."
Serena’s lips curled, and she nodded. "Sure. Same place, right?"
Maya agreed and dashed out of the bakery.
Serena smiled seeing her slim figure being so flexible.
Maya, on the other hand, walked along the pavement, not paying attention to the road or her surroundings. Her brows were creased, and the space between them were drawn together as she typed furiously on her phone.
"Hey, beautiful."
Her attention was broken when she heard a very greasy and slimy voice.
She calmly raised her head, and her eye connected with a tall, bald man with a huge pot belly. He had a grin which showcased his dirty teeth.
Maya’s first move was to scrunch her face in disgust. "Do you even brush? Your breath reeks and it can be smelt from miles away." Not minding the dangerous aura around the man, she instantly berated him.
The bald man stopped in his tracks as he looked at the girl who had returned to typing on her phone as she walked past him.
He instantly became angry and rushed to block her path. "Girl, do you know who you’re talking to? How dare you talk about my breath?" He demanded loudly.
Maya rolled her eyes, then tucked her phone into her pockets. She raised her head and offered him a smile. "The last person who dared to block my path had his hands broken. Do you dare to block me again?"
"You..." The bald man trembled, not out of fear but out of anger and embarrassment. He couldn’t believe that a mere lady could threaten him.
Maya’s eyes turned cold seeing the finger pointed at her. "Firstly, don’t point your fingers at me. I find it annoying. Secondly..." she paused, looking around. She only smiled satisfactorily after seeing that no one was paying attention to them. "I have somewhere to be. If you have nothing to say, then kindly move away."
She was about to walk past him when he held her by her arms. Her eyes flashed instantly, and she gave him a kick in the groin. The impact of the kick was like a train driving over someone. He let her go instantly due to the pain.
Crouching, he held his groin as he looked at Maya who wiped the arm which he held her with a handkerchief before tossing it to the waste bin by the side.
"How could you hit people in daylight? I’ll sue you." He cried, tears gathering in his eyes.
"Tsk." She let out a scoff. "You were the one who tried to stop me. I politely warned you, but you couldn’t take a hint. Why should I be blamed?" She crossed her arms around her chest, and chuckled lightly.
Then she bent to his level, and whispered into the man’s ears. "Tell the person who sent you this, it won’t take just one man to hurt me. He should probably try again," she murmured calmly. "Or did he forget who taught me how to break bones without leaving marks?"
The bald man’s eyes went wide with shock. "You know..." he trembled.
Maya rose to her feet and shrugged. "He wasn’t exactly discreet with it. Anyways, goodbye. Lunch break will be over in a few." She blew him a kiss, and practically skipped away, leaving behind a man who might not have kids again due to the impact of her kick.
What Maya didn’t know was that her entire action was seen by a man in a car.
"Interesting." The man in the car muttered to himself as his eyes remained on the direction she walked to.
"Boss, what are your orders?" The man’s assistant asked subserviently. He had also witnessed everything which had happened. At first, he was shocked that his boss asked him to stop the car when they saw a girl being ’harassed’. His boss always minded his business so why?
He thought his boss wanted to play the hero who saved the damsel, but the following actions proved that the girl didn’t need saving. His eyes strayed to the man who was trying hard to rise to his feet, and goosebumps appeared on his body.
Meanwhile, the man was silent for a while as his gaze remained fixated on Maya’s direction. "Take care of the man. Hurting ladies in my turf isn’t something I tolerate."
His assistant swallowed and silently said a prayer for the bald man.
