Chapter 704: Chapter 704: Bivins Kingdom - The War of National Extinction (5)

"Pick my ass!"

Razalo bellowed, grabbing a chevaux-de-frise, a defensive barrier made of six long spears, and hurling it with all his might at Enel.

The moment he laid eyes on Enel, Razalo knew things had taken a turn for the worse. But he had his pride. Even if defeat was a near-certainty, surrendering without a fight wasn’t his style. Only by going all out would he know where his limits truly lay.

"Fine then!"

Enel’s expression turned frigid. Lightning flared across his body, arcing through the air.

"Thunderbolt!"

KRAAAK... BOOM!

A roar of thunder shook the heavens as the world turned a blinding white. A bolt of lightning, thick as a water barrel, shot forward. It pulverized the airborne spears in an instant and continued its trajectory toward Razalo with undiminished fury.

K-BOOM!

The massive bolt slammed into the ground, vaporizing cobblestones and sending debris flying in all directions. A crater several meters wide was blasted into the earth. Nearby soldiers weren’t so lucky; those hit by the flying shrapnel were left bruised, battered, and bleeding.

Having evaded the lightning strike, Razalo deployed the hidden blade on his arm and leaped onto the city wall, thrusting his weapon toward Enel.

CLANG!

Enel raised his golden staff, parrying Razalo’s strike with effortless precision.

"Hmph... die! 60 Million Volts... Discharge!!!"

Enel sneered as his body erupted in visible, terrifying electricity. The current surged through the golden staff, conducting directly into Razalo’s arm blade, and then...

"AAAAAAGH!!!"

Razalo was instantly engulfed in a cage of lightning. He convulsed violently as the current surged through him, letting out a scream of pure agony.

The discharge lasted for over ten seconds. A pungent, sickening smell of burnt flesh wafted from Razalo. His skin was charred black, and his clothes had been burned away in several places.

"A mere mortal dares to oppose a God? Yahahaha!" Enel looked down at the blackened Razalo, curled his lip in disdain, and delivered a heavy kick.

THUD!

Razalo was sent tumbling dozens of meters away, rolling repeatedly across the stone floor.

"Now, all of you... drop dead!"

Enel scanned the surrounding North Gate District. His body flared with brilliant light as dozens of lightning bolts, each thick as a man’s wrist, branched out from him like a web of death.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The thunderous roars were incessant. Jagged forks of lightning blanketed the entire district, turning it into a literal Forbidden Zone for humanity. Every flash of light claimed another life. Blackened, charred corpses littered the ground as cries of terror and pain echoed through the air.

"The Gods are angry! Run for your lives!"

"It’s... it’s a monster! AGH!"

"No—stop!"

"I surrender! Have mercy!"

"This is divine punishment!"

Faced with the overwhelming power of lightning, a force no ordinary human could hope to withstand, the soldiers’ morale shattered. Leaving behind a trail of carbonized remains, the entire army collapsed into a panicked, disorganized rout.

"Hm?!"

Enel’s brow suddenly furrowed as he reflexively shifted his body.

To his surprise, Razalo, charred black and having just endured 60 million volts, had actually clawed his way back up. He had lunged to Enel’s side, his arm blade grazing Enel’s chest.

"You can still stand? I underestimated you."

Enel looked down at his chest, his expression souring.

"It was just a bit of a shock. I’m the best assassin there is! Soften... Marshland!!!"

Razalo suddenly bent down, slamming his hand against the top of the city wall.

"What is this?"

Enel stumbled, nearly losing his footing. To his shock, the ground beneath him had turned soft and viscous. A section of the wall over a hundred meters long had transformed into a swampy mire, and his feet were rapidly sinking.

"Goddess of the Night, protect me!!! Die, you bastard!"

Moving with the ease of a fish in water, Razalo glided across the softened wall to close the gap. He thrust both arm blades forward simultaneously.

In close quarters, the shorter weapon held the advantage. Razalo stayed glued to his opponent, denying Enel the space needed to swing his long golden staff.

Zzzt... Zzzt...

Just as the razor-sharp blades were about to pierce Enel’s chest, he dissolved into a bolt of lightning, flickering up into the safety of the sky.

BOOM!

"El Thor!!!"

A thunderclap rang out from the clear sky. A pillar of brilliant light several meters in diameter plummeted downward.

"Damn Logia types!"

Razalo gritted his teeth and threw himself off the city wall.

RUMBLE!

Almost simultaneously, the massive lightning pillar struck the wall, pulverizing the ramparts and blasting a hole straight through the thick stone structure. The shockwave vibrated through a thousand meters of the fortification. Debris flew like shrapnel, and dust choked the air for a hundred-meter radius.

Crumble...

"Pah! Ptui!"

Razalo dug himself out from under the rubble, spitting out several mouthfuls of dusty saliva. Looking ahead, he saw the entire gatehouse had been demolished, leaving a ten-meter gap where the wall had collapsed.

In the air, Enel looked down at Razalo with cold eyes. "I was going to kill you. But now... I think I’ll just take your ability instead!"

In a flash of lightning, the air filled with the faint smell of ozone.

"Lightning Kick... Raijin Blade!!!"

A spark of electricity appeared before Razalo’s face, rapidly expanding. His right leg, condensed into a blade of pure lightning, slammed into Razalo’s abdomen.

BOOM!

WHOOSH—!

RUMBLE...

Razalo’s body arched back like a boiled shrimp. He coughed up a spray of blood as he was sent flying like a black blur, crashing through dozens of houses. The shockwave of his passage kicked up a massive trail of dust and debris.

A trench three hundred meters long now lay before Enel, ending where the semi-conscious Razalo was pinned. His chest clothes were incinerated by the high heat, his abdomen suffered severe electrical burns, and blood soaked his shirt. Tiny arcs of electricity still flickered across his skin.

Zzzzt...

The sparks in the air coalesced, brightening into a human form.

"Trash is trash. Don’t think you can rebel against a God."

Enel walked up to Razalo, his voice dripping with mocking disdain.

Thump.

He tapped his golden staff on the ground. A surge of electricity traveled through the earth, striking Razalo once more.

"AAAAAAGH—!"

Razalo let out a piercing shriek as the lightning engulfed him again. After a few seconds, the light faded into a few stray sparks.

"Hmph."

Enel looked at the unconscious Razalo and chuckled coldly. Using his golden staff, he hooked Razalo and hoisted him up.

Just then, a silver demon flapped its wings and descended, still carrying an executioner’s blade dripping with blood.

"Over here. Take this guy to your master!"

Enel beckoned the demon over and tossed Razalo toward it.

"Heh heh heh... Enel-sama, I shall deliver him to the Master at once!"

The demon let out a cackling laugh, catching Razalo by the arm. It even performed an elegant bow toward Enel before flapping its wings and soaring into the sky.
