Chapter 196 - Chaton's Reminder

The Golden King Hotel lobby was like a giant playground, filled with every gambling game you could imagine. It was as big as a town square. Right in the middle was a small fighting arena. People could even send their own fighters into the ring, and winning could make you a billionaire overnight!

As they walked in, Baccarat greeted them warmly. A servant quickly appeared, carrying a fancy case full of gambling chips. He bowed politely to Roya and presented it.

"Vice Admiral Black Hair," the servant said, "Lord Tesoro is giving you these 30 million Belly worth of chips as a gift. If you don't want to gamble, you can just exchange them for cash!"

"Oh? That's quite generous," Roya said, raising an eyebrow.

30 million Belly worth of chips! If Tesoro was lending them, that would be one thing, but giving them away for free seemed awfully friendly.

This wasn't the Gild Tesoro he remembered. That guy shouldn't be trying to suck up to him. What was going on?

Roya subtly nodded to Lu Yun, signaling him to accept the chips. Since Mister Tesoro was being so nice, he couldn't exactly refuse. He'd play along for now.

"Roya, let's go watch the fighting!" Yamato shouted excitedly, her eyes scanning the busy lobby until she spotted the arena in the center. Card games were too confusing for her. A simple, straightforward brawl sounded much better!

"Alright," Roya agreed with a smile, happy to keep her entertained.

He wasn't really interested in gambling. No matter where you were, if you had the strength and the right connections, you'd never be short on cash. And if you weren't short on cash, you wouldn't be desperate for a lucky win.

They found some seats near the arena, and Yamato cheered wildly as she watched the fighters below. "Bet on the red corner! Go, red corner, go!"

The poor girl had been locked up on Onigashima for way too long. Anything new and exciting caught her attention.

Roya smiled, keeping Yamato entertained, but his mind was busy. He scanned the crowd of gamblers and quickly spotted more than a dozen notorious bounty hunters. And Marines.

"Huh? Could that be..." Roya's eyes narrowed. He quietly told Lu Yun to watch Yamato, then stood up and headed toward a gambling den near the arena.

Inside, a group of older men sat around a table, playing a dice game.

Roya sat down casually and greeted them with a friendly smile. "Vice Admiral Chaton, what a surprise to see you here."

"Roya, is that you?" Chaton looked up, surprised.

It wasn't just seeing Roya that surprised him, but the fact that Roya had come over to say hello. They were both Headquarters Vice Admirals and had met a few times, but they'd never actually spoken to each other.

Roya teased, "Where's Vice Admiral Momousagi? I thought you two were inseparable."

Chaton chuckled wryly. "You're joking, my boy."

His crush on Gion was well-known throughout Marine HQ, mostly as a source of amusement. After all, she had rejected him nearly a hundred times. He was used to it by now.

"Gion went upstairs," Chaton sighed. He had wanted to follow her, but she had ignored him, so he stayed downstairs to play. Coincidentally, an old friend was here, too.

The old man sitting next to Chaton raised his head. He had a cross-shaped scar between his eyebrows, and his eyes were completely blank. "Kaje Bro, is this your friend?"

"Issho Bro, this is Vice Admiral Roya, the Black Hair. He's been causing quite a stir lately. You must have heard of him." Chaton introduced his old friend.

"So you're Vice Admiral Black Hair. My respects," Issho said politely.

"Mister Issho, you're too kind," Roya replied.

The man before him was the future Marine Admiral Fujitora. He and Chaton seemed to have been friends for years.

"Issho Bro, hurry up! They're about to open the betting!"

"Ah, I still haven't decided who to bet on!"

More like drinking buddies.

Roya watched the two old gamblers anxiously waiting for the betting to start. He wondered if they could be any less serious.

"Roya!" Yamato came over, looking pleased.

Roya stood up to leave. "Well, I'll be going now. Vice Admiral Chaton, Mister Issho, we should grab a drink sometime if we get the chance."

"Wait a moment, Roya," Chaton said, stopping him. He hesitated, glanced at Yamato, and said with a meaningful tone, "Be careful when you get back."

"Thank you," Roya replied, his heart skipping a beat.

Chaton was a respected Vice Admiral known for his good nature. If he was warning him, there had to be a reason.

Was someone in the Marines targeting him?

He was usually careful. Sure, he had caused some trouble and disobeyed orders, but those were minor things. A Headquarters Vice Admiral couldn't be removed that easily.

But what if they targeted the people around him?

Roya looked at Yamato, who was waiting nearby. There were no secrets in the world, and Yamato's true identity would be revealed sooner or later. She was an easy target.

"Interesting!" He was curious to see who would be foolish enough to try.

Slot machines, racing games...

After playing with Yamato for a while, Baccarat invited them to relax on the hotel's Viewing Balcony and watch the show.

Below was the biggest stage in the Golden City. The audience was packed, everyone eagerly waiting for the performance to begin.

"Show Time!"

With a blast of music, Gild Tesoro stepped onto the gold-plated stage to the cheers of the crowd.

After a brief opening performance, Tesoro snapped his fingers. A huge amount of gold surged from the water below, creating another stage covered in flower petals.

"Tonight, we also have a special guest performing with me!"

"Click!"

The flower petals opened, revealing the mysterious guest inside. Along with the singer, there were several backup dancers.

"Funky〜 Funky〜 Funky〜〜"

"If I lost weight, I'd be too popular!"

"That's why I deliberately don't lose weight!"

"Funk!"

Under the spotlight, a round, jolly figure sang and danced nimbly!

It was the Punk Band from the Beasts Pirates!

The crowd went wild, shouting "Funk!" along with the music.

Up on the Hotel Viewing Balcony...

"Pfft!!!"

Roya and Yamato spat out their drinks at the same time.

"Queen???" Roya was stunned.

That was definitely Queen, right? There couldn't be another guy that size who could move like that.

"It's Queen!" Yamato pointed at the stage and shouted, "Is he here to take me back?!"

"No, I don't think so," Roya said quickly, waving his hand.

Thinking about it, it wasn't that surprising to see Queen in the Golden City. It was just that his entrance was so shocking. Putting aside personal feelings, you had to admit that Queen's performance was energetic. The audience clearly loved it.

Plus, Tesoro and Queen seemed to get along really well!

Roya frowned, feeling uneasy. Remembering Chaton's warning from earlier, he felt even more worried.
