Chapter 71 - Predators on the Horizon: The Arrival of the God Knights
The wind howled over the open sea. Meruem stood at the front of his ship, his eyes sharp and serious. In the distance, the Voidreign Kingdom appeared on the horizon — just 10 kilometers away.
"Stop the ship."His voice cut through the salty air like a blade. The crew instantly obeyed, sails dropping and anchors plunging into the deep.
This was the place.
"According to Jessie's " Meruem muttered to himself, "this is where they'll come."
The sea around them was deceptively calm, but every fiber of his instinct screamed of the approaching storm.
Somewhere else, a giant warship sped across the ocean, moving faster than any normal ship. It was bright white like the sky, with huge lion statues whose open mouths looked like they were roaring forever.
And atop the foremost lion's head stood a figure.
Figarland Shamrock, the older twin brother of Shanks, stood motionless atop the lion's head, his presence commanding the sea breeze.
A man wreathed in an oppressive aura, a living tempest of sword aura and haki. His crimson cloak whipped violently behind him, his hand resting lazily on the hilt of a sword rumored to rival Gryphon itself.
His eyes, cold and merciless, fixed on the horizon.
He hadn't spoken a word since their voyage began — a predator closing in on his prey.
Below him, the rest of the God Knights gathered on deck, each a monster in their own right.
Gunko, known as Gunku, twirled her fingers idly, strips of arrow-tipped bandages floating around her like deadly serpents. Having eaten the Aro Aro no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit, she could summon and control bandage-like arrow strips, manipulating them like living weapons.
The strips twisted and coiled in the air, forming gauntlets around her hands and boots around her feet."I wonder how long before I can gut someone today."She grinned behind her mask made of toilet paper, adjusting the goggles perched atop her messy hair.
Shepherd Sommers, the old man draped in thick cloaks, sat against the mast, lazily growing vines around his cane. The vines gleamed, thorn-covered and venomous, his Iba Iba no Mi ability allowing him to create and control miles of thorny vines.
"Hmph... my vines thirst for blood today," he muttered to no one in particular, an eerie smile splitting his wrinkled face.

Invisible thorns occasionally appeared and vanished, like the sea itself was bristling with his unseen traps.
And then there was Rimoshifu Killingham.
A towering figure, his features sharp, angular, his skin tinged with scales. Having consumed the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Kirin, a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit, Killingham's transformation was a monstrous hybrid of man and qilin, a long-maned beast with a single horn and a cloak of flame-like smoke coiling around him.
He gave off an air of cruel elegance.
More terrifying was his ability to cause entire armies to fall asleep from a distance. Sleeping enemies were at his mercy — whether to be fed delicious, dream-created food or torn apart by nightmare creatures known as MMA, larger than giants themselves.
His voice, deep and steady, broke the silence."Voidreign Kingdom... hmm. It's been too long since we bathed a nation in fire."
Figarland Shamrock gazed out at the sea, his brow furrowed as he spoke, "I never thought someone with such talent would join that crew... what a waste."
On the other side, Meruem stood at the bow of his ship, his gaze unwavering as he stared into the distance. His expression was calm, almost indifferent, but his sharp eyes betrayed the storm brewing beneath the surface. He felt it — the tension in the air, the approaching threat.
Meruem, standing on his motionless ship, could feel the heavy aura fast approaching.
The presence of four Emperor-level beings.
He grinned."Found you."
