One-Shot Transmigration: Sorry I'm Here To Ruin Your Happy Ever After-Chapter 128: The trial(8)
A ripple ran through the hall. Some muttered, "Attempted murder?" Others whispered, "Impossible... I thought she was dead and buried?"
"What in heavens is going on?!"
Yura continued, her voice steadying, cold and deliberate:
"You must all wonder how I am still here. It is nothing short of a miracle. My friend.." her eyes flicked to Seraphine, "or should I say the venomous snake I once trusted, Seraphine. Finally got her prayers answered and was engaged to Lord Vukasin five months ago. But she had committed atrocities beyond imagining, silencing anyone who might witness them."
She paused, letting the weight of her words settle.
"If you look around, you’ll notice the other ladies who sought the Governor, they are nowhere to be found. Dead. Killed by Seraphine herself. She once killed a maid because the tea was too hot. She is not only a murderer but a tyrant."
Gasps filled the room. Seraphine rose abruptly, hands trembling defensively.
Yura pressed on, voice rising just enough to cut through the murmurs:
"As for how I survived? Let’s just say it was a miracle. She saw me writing a warning to the governor as I wanted to warn him of the demon he was about to marry and she tried to eliminate me when she found out. Stabbed me. Tried to drown me. Inspect my midsection if you must.." she lifted the hem of her sleeve, revealing the long, jagged scars that ran to her stomach.."these are the marks of her attempt to end my life. Two of us went into the water that day. The second victim was taken and buried hastily. Seraphine never checked if I survived."
The magistrate muttered softly. "A noble lady is requested to confirm these injuries."
Two ladies from the court stepped forward, examined the scars, and nodded gravely. The court was now firmly against Seraphine.
Min‑jae rose from his seat, calm and deadly, letting the room feel the weight of his presence:
"And so, let the record show: Lady Seraphine not only attempted to murder my sister, she orchestrated terror and lies. And yet she stands here, accusing me."
He let the words linger.
A cold, deliberate pause.
Then he gestured to the next and final witness.
"Finally, I call Robert Howard, the Amagi family butler. He can confirm my whereabouts during the alleged murders of my uncle and cousin."
The elderly butler stepped forward, voice firm, precise:
"My lord," he began, "...was not present at the estate during the deaths. He had been assaulted months prior by the Vukasin father and son, both held in custody. They were only released shortly before the ball. My lord could not have committed these acts. Guards, household staff, and records will confirm his absence."
The court erupted into murmurs, gasps and whispers spreading like wildfire as tension peaked. Seraphine’s hands trembled, composure crumbling. Radomir’s face darkened, a vein throbbing at his temple.
Min-jae’s gaze fused with Meical’s – relief, pride, love surging between them like electricity.
The accuser was found guilty.
The evidence was clear and crushing.
Min-jae lifted his chin, voice steel: "Ladies and gentlemen, truth is laid bare. Accusations against me are lies. I stand innocent. The guilty are revealed."
The hall flatlined.
Every eye waited, breathless, for the magistrate’s judgment.
The trial had shifted. For the first time in over a month, Min-jae felt the storm within him subside.
The magistrate lifted his parchment again, clearing his throat as the court held its collective breath. The murmurs, whispers, and shocked gasps faded under his authoritative presence.
"Having heard the testimonies, examined the evidence, and considered the accounts of witnesses both noble and common," he began, voice echoing through the great hall, "it is the determination of this court that the accusations leveled against Kaizar Amagi are unsubstantiated and false."
A ripple of astonishment ran through the chamber. Some nobles muttered under their breath; others stiffened, realizing the weight of the verdict.
"Furthermore," the magistrate continued, "the evidence presented by Georgiana Amagi, formerly believed deceased, establishes that Lady Seraphine has committed multiple acts of attempted murder, intimidation, and unlawful coercion. This court finds Lady Seraphine guilty as charged."
Gasps erupted from Seraphine’s corner. Her composure shattered, eyes wide, hands trembling as she tried to plead, to argue, to maintain a veneer of dignity. But the room was already against her. Every whisper of disbelief, every sideways glance, confirmed her isolation.
Radomir’s jaw tightened, the storm inside him momentarily visible as he listened to the pronouncement. Even his obsession, his jealousy, his desire to see Kaizar broken, could not undo the weight of irrefutable evidence.
The magistrate turned, raising a hand for silence.
"Lady Seraphine is hereby stripped of her titles, privileges, and positions within this court. And also it is believed as part of the law. An eye for an eye. Seraphine of house Arven, is hereby sentence to death by the guillotine. As you have taken many lives so shall yours be taken. This is the decision of the court."
The words death by guillotine rolled through the hall like thunder.
For a heartbeat, there was only silence.
Then...
"NO!"
Seraphine’s scream tore through the courtroom, raw and unrestrained, the last shreds of her composure exploding into hysteria.
She stumbled forward, palms slamming against the table.
"YOU CAN’T DO THIS TO ME!" she shrieked, voice cracking. "I—I AM THE FUTURE LADY VUKASIN! I AM— I AM—"
"Silence.." the magistrate warned sharply.
But Seraphine didn’t hear him.
Or perhaps she refused to.
Her hair fell over her face as she whipped around, pointing a trembling, accusatory finger at Min‑jae.
"THIS IS YOUR DOING! YOU...YOU SNAKE! YOU THINK YOU CAN RUIN ME?! YOU THINK..."
Her voice broke, not from sorrow but from fury.
"MEICAL!" she snapped suddenly, turning toward the governors, toward the only man she had ever wanted to possess. "SAY SOMETHING! TELL THEM... TELL THEM THIS SENTENCE IS A MISTAKE! YOU OWE ME THAT MUCH!"
Meical didn’t even look at her.
He only looked at Min‑jae.
Seraphine froze. Her breath hitched.
Then her face twisted, so terrifyingly that the courts felt chills. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
"No... no, no, no... you cannot do this, Meical!" she spat, voice shaking uncontrollably. "You cannot stand there and... and LOOK AT HIM like that! After EVERYTHING I did for..."
