Only I Am A Reader-Chapter 536: Incomplete Power System

Looking back at things from the start, Leo's doubts started to disappear one by one. The way Special Ability Users came to be wasn't through someone's teaching.

It was the result of trial and error! The fact that their power system was incomplete naturally made sense!

'I'm still too biased to see things clearly.'

The reason Leo neglected to think that way from the start was due to the preconceived notion stuck in his heart.

'This is no longer just a novel.'

Despite this being his third experience, he still treated this new reality as a 'novel'. Something that wasn't mentioned by the end of the novel naturally meant that it was irrelevant. However…

'And this is proof of that.'

The very fact that Leo had managed to obtain this Secondary Energy Storage meant that there could be much more hidden from his eyes.

Although it didn't mean that Leo could no longer make use of crucial knowledge, he now had to keep an open mind when looking at things.

'Within limits, of course.'

Using that vein of thought, Leo started contemplating. Was the proper way to handle Enigma through the Secondary Energy Storage? Or was it just a makeshift transplant gifted to him by the Gate?

Was there some sort of technique that allowed one to create the real thing? Did someone actually awaken an ability that could create it? Did Aurora also receive the same reward?

Many questions spiraled in Leo's mind, depending on their answers, a lot could possibly change. However, all that Leo could do was speculate as he usually did.

'Oh.'

Meanwhile, although his contemplation was at a standstill, Leo's live experiment had yet to reach its end. The stored Enigma was still spinning, but the one roaming in Leo's body acted differently than expected.

'It's recovering?'

While the process was infinitely slower than usual, the Enigma that Leo transferred to the Secondary Energy Storage was now being recovered as if it had been expended.

'So its function as a storage is just as relevant.'

In addition to its surprising ability to refine Enigma, the transplant also acted as an additional superpowered battery, increasing Leo's Enigma capacity even further!

'The recovery time is less than ideal though…'

Since refined Enigma was stronger, Leo knew that it would be his main tool during important battles. However, 'True Overflowing Enigma' didn't seem to work on the Enigma that was taken by the transplant.

With that being the case, Leo's never-ending energy advantage would be nullified.

Once his Secondary Energy Storage was depleted mid-battle, he either had to give up on strengthening his abilities in exchange for lasting as long as he wanted, or go all in and pour everything into the transplant for a very limited yet effective power burst. Unless…

'Wait, would that work?'

In order to test out his last option, Leo took out a handful of Enigma Stones and absorbed them on the spot. If even this didn't work…

'It works!'

Just a second later, Leo could feel the Enigma Stones' effect. The incoming energy stream brought life to the stagnant Enigma. Without hesitation, Leo took out more stones, continuously absorbing them until the void had been filled.

It wasn't faster or slower, Enigma Stones were simply unaffected by what the Secondary Energy Storage had caused!

'Is it a problem of pulling the roots?'

Although he only had guesses in regard to how Enigma recovered on its own, Leo hypothesized that the transplant's refinement pulled out Enigma in a more complete manner compared to just using it, making it harder for the leftovers to recreate themselves.

On the other hand, Enigma Stones ignorantly replenished Enigma without any requirement, so it easily worked without any hitches.

If even that didn't work out, then the pleasant surprise that he received might have ended up being nothing but a temporary power-up mode. Thankfully, it looked like he could keep going as long as he had enough Enigma Stones.

'I might have had to turn my hair blonde then.'

Finally taking another look at his personal book, Leo was pleased to see the imploded number of Reading Points that he reached thanks to the True Gate Phenomena. However, his true focus was on something else.

'Does that mean it can increase even further?'

The amount that the Secondary Energy Storage was able to store at the moment was 222 Enigma Points. However, the vessel addition was marked as question marks.

Considering that the Personal Book explained almost everything, Leo could only imagine that the number was undetermined or subject to change.

'Depending on the degree of refinement?'

The first guess he came up with was that the more refined Enigma was the less 'space' that it took. Perhaps after enough spinning, more space would be opened up and he could introduce more Enigma into the transplant.

Other than that, expending refined Enigma also seemed like another plausible method that could lead to storage expansion. In fact, maybe even absorbing Enigma Stones could have a positive effect as well.

'This is also intriguing.'

Aside from that, the additional talent also grabbed Leo's attention. He had disregarded it then due to the situation, but Secondary Energy Storage's direct representation in the Personal book was unusual.

In most cases, the Hidden Pieces and Talents that Leo received were usually represented by another title, so seeing the name mentioned by the Gate made Leo curious about the identity of the Gate's manager…

'Well, that's a problem for tomorrow.'

Although he wanted to test some more, Leo wanted to give the Enigma as much time as possible to undergo the transplant's refinement, so he decided to leave his worries for his future self and get some well-deserved sleep.

Once he woke up, he would need to start working on a new set of plans!
