'It's morning… huh.'

Opening his eyes, Leo stared at the ceiling in a daze. For some reason, ever since that day, his dreams had been a bit weird.

Referring to them as dreams wasn't right either, they were more like snippets, vague memories that didn't belong to Leo or Cassian, they also weren't Arthur's or Baekho's.

In fact, they showed nothing definitive enough to identify their owner, but Leo had a few guesses.

'I should probably refrain from using that ability for a while.'

The number one suspect was naturally Gene. Although this was out of her hands, Leo suspected that he got some sort of mental infection while separating the brainwashing mechanisms.

Of course, these dreams weren't exactly a problem, they were essentially harmless memories of a distant childhood. It was just that they gave Leo a strong sense of dissociation.

'Hopefully, they will come to an end soon.'

Regardless, Leo just planned to stop using the obscure ability branch that he explored until he obtained more data. Unless it was really necessary, Nightmare Cleansing was sealed from here on.

"Alright, let's see what we got."

Having decided to put this matter aside for now, Leo grabbed the phone and checked his email. Ever since he started doing detective work into Villain sightings and hiding spots, this had become a part of his daily routine.

'Fake, fake, fake…. And fake.'

In order to really make use of the internet's resources, Leo had subbed to several sites and news feeds, even creating several fake accounts to engage with certain users.

While the words of netizens suffered from a terrible lack of accuracy, every lie and exaggeration had some truth to them, and Leo aimed to get something accurate by deducing or tracing it back to that truth.

'It's not my best day.'

However, everything he got today seemed to be completely useless. He wasn't exactly thirsty for information now, but having more to do was always welcome. Who knew if things would get dry soon?

'It probably will.'

Of course, considering what Leo had in mind, the certainty of that matter wasn't up to chance anymore. Once he made a move, things would change.

The common public might be forced to see through the higher-ups' lenses, but Villains had their own way of doing things.

'Oh.'

Just as he was about to close the phone to end this bad streak, Leo received a notification from the most recent account he made, and he immediately clicked on it.

[ From: [email protected]

To: [email protected]

It has gotten better. Thank you. ]

'Oh…'

Naturally, the sender was most certainly none other than Gene. The email didn't contain much, but Leo could tell that the girl had succeeded in finding her new home.

He didn't give her this email, nor did he tell her to let him know when her situation wrapped up. Rather, Leo planned to check out Aurora's home in a week or so, but he didn't expect to receive news just after three days had passed.

'Funny kid.'

The email was actually meant for Aurora, added in fine print to the piece of art he sent to her, Leo intended to play a prank on her if she were to notice it.

However, it seemed that Gene must have answered her most important question, allowing Aurora to move on.

On the other hand, Gene likely read the novella to confirm its content, spotting the author's email by chance, going as far as to send Leo a thumbs up.

After rising from bed, Leo went ahead to open his laptop and check some real confirmation. Once he looked hard enough, he was able to find news about a certain orphanage's temporary close just as he expected.

"She really acted quickly this time."

Of course, this was something that Aurora was meant to do in the novel. However, she originally spent several days trying to take care of Gene first before she started making a fuss.

Naturally, whether it was in the novel or in this reality, Aurora's fuss couldn't be ignored. It was precisely because they were using her that the higher-ups had to comply with many of her righteous impulses.

After Aurora's investigation brought about damning evidence, they definitely had to close the orphanage to show that they had no hands in its corruption… They were also victims, victims of ignorance.

'Nothing is mentioned of Aurora's involvement though.'

Perhaps because he had just been part of a controversial matter, the reporters refused to give much details, making it appear as if the orphanage had just failed a routine inspection.

In the end, what truly mattered were the promises that Aurora personally had received to make sure something like this never happened.

'Well, at least my mental blow didn't change this part of the story.'

Opposite to what the higher-ups paraded themselves to be, Aurora believed that ignorance was guilt rather than an excuse. Since she had let the children in the orphanage suffer like this, she had to atone.

Although she didn't think it would be enough, the least she could do was take in the most unfortunate child of them all.

Leo was a little worried that the shaken Aurora would deviate from the course, but aside from some empty discrepancies, everything seemed to flow in the same manner.

At the very least, the Personal Book didn't recognize that an additional event had occurred.

'This wasn't the mindset that I was trying to alter anyway.'

Finding out that Aurora was still kind wasn't a problem. What Leo attempted to change through his interference was the protagonist's awareness, not the fundamentals of good and bad.

"Anyway, that's my cue."

While Gene's living situation didn't appear like it would affect much, Leo had been actually waiting for that mini-event to come to a close. After all…

'It's time to create some confusion.'

Fortunately for her, Aurora was no longer the sole target of Leo's next plan, she was one of many. Rather than just confusing her, starting now, he was going to confuse the entirety of Enigma City!
