Having considered that all of this could be an act of deception, Leo had prepared several alternative plans in case things deviated from the course he predicted.

However, for the first time in a while, Leo didn't get his usual dose of mental workout. The fangirl was really just a fangirl.

'Unless she is that good of an actor.'

If she could immerse herself into the role of a dedicated fangirl that well, then it was all the same.

After all, a dedicated actor would never reveal themselves until their moment came. So, as long as Leo doesn't let his guard down, it was no different than having a part-time subordinate.

Whenever she showed any intent to play with her tail, Leo could easily put her foolish ambitions to rest with the superiority provided by his refined Enigma.

'Not that I would trust her anyway.'

Unlike the family that he made in Murim Supremacy, shallow acquaintances that only serve temporary purposes were not the kind of people that Leo could leave his back to.

"I suppose this calls for an introduction first."

Either way, once a plan was chosen, it was time to act on it.

"I-I still feel like I'm not ready, but-"

"Then let me go first. Hey there, the name is Cassian."

Even if it was just a formality, Leo followed his usual methodology; Leo didn't reach out for a handshake but gave her a light wave with his right hand.

"Hey! My name is Kara, butโ€ฆ I would like to be eventually known as your Shadow Crow!"

Although she was looking shy not less than a minute ago, the fangirl, Kara, exploded with enthusiasm as she introduced herself with a salute, not forgetting to add some spice at the end.

"Shadow Crow?"

Leo planned on playing along to make things as smooth as possible, but he couldn't help commenting when he heard the nickname she choose for herself.

"I know it's originally considered a bad omen, but if the world is horrified of the Lord of Shadows, then I would like to be the omen that alerts them to the Lord's arrival."

This wasn't the first case that he read about something like this, but it was strange for Leo to personally meet someone like Kara.

While he didn't get to learn everything about her, it was obvious that she had built her entire character based on his existence.

'This might be more problematic than expected.'

"...Besides, it also matches my name. A crow in japanese has 'Kara' in 'Karasu', if it's two characters out of three, it has to be a match."

Once again, as she explained something that she was enthusiastic about, there was no sign of the shy Kara from before.

"Before we decide on a specific moniker like this, wouldn't it be better to explain why you believe this kind of role to be your purpose?"

Just a minute ago, Leo was still undecided about the approach he would take when handling Kara.

On one hand, he wanted to understand the nature of Kara's ability and how it could be related to him from the person herself, but on the other hand, he didn't want to probe too far to the point of scaring her away.

Even if everything remained a mystery for now, he could always glean the details over time, just like Sherlock liked to do. Howeverโ€ฆ

'There is no reason to do so.'

The more he spoke with Kara, the better he understood the nature of her obsession. Rather than Leo scaring her away, she was more likely to be the one to do the scaring.

As someone who appeared to have truly based her life around him, there was little to no chance that she would run away after all of this. Even if this was just a part of her acting.

In fact, this was exactly the part that raised Leo's curiosity far enough to the point of directly asking the question!

'Fake or not, I would like to hear a convincing reason as to why this obsession had consumed her entire life.'

"Well, it's a long storyโ€ฆ It would probably be just a waste of your valuable time if you listen to it."

Whether it was the expression on her face or the words she spoke, Kara seemed to really want to tell her story. At the same time, however, she was afraid to act on that desire.

After all, she had suddenly gotten so close to achieving her lifetime objective! Kara didn't want to ruin everything because of one moment of weakness!

"It doesn't matter. If we are going to work together, then I have to hear about it. Besides, I'm also a little curious."

Rather than acting ice cold and disregarding the fangirl who appeared to be severely dependent on him, Leo chose to use this moment to build a base for future rapport.

Although their cooperation was unlikely to last too long, showing acceptance could only lead to better results. In any case, he really did want to hear that story.

'Just like Cassian's- My story, this is yet another undisclosed piece of history.'

As a reader first and foremost, getting to 'read' more was still his primary objective, and from Leo's personal experience, hidden stories that never made it to the final draft were usually the most interesting part of the entire book.

"If you really want to listen, then I will gladly share my story."

Finally being told to release the words she had been holding back for so long, Kara didn't need much convincing to lay bare everything in front of Leo.

"Have you ever heard of Dormant Awakening? I'm sure you know a lot more about the inaccuracy of measurement devices compared to me, but it's unlikely that you have managed to learn about that possibility. After allโ€ฆ"

With a serious expression taking over, Kara quickly started to reminisce over

the bittersweet past.

"I was the only recorded case in the entirety of New Enigma City."
