Only I Am A Reader-Chapter 590: Premonition Or Intuition? Entering The Gate!
"The day has finally come! On this beautiful Thursday, at exactly 10 AM, New Team Aurora is scheduled to enter the very first Gate in their project list!"
"It's only 9:30 right now, but everyone can already feel the tension, according to…"
"Will this be the first page of the Chronicles of humanity breaking out of its cage? Or will this be a repeat of Aurora's recent disastrous entry to a Major Gate? Stay tuned to find out!"
Amidst the street full of cameras and reporters, a hollowed-out circle stood out. Within, five girls stood together, each busy with their own business.
If they could have, the reporters would have already rushed inside, but they had been repeatedly warned not to step beyond the red tape covering that circle.
"Tsk."
Feeling their glaring, covetous gaze, Vera, also known as the Thorn Sword, couldn't help clicking her tongue. Among her sisters, she was the one who had the worst temper.
'Idiot.'
Seeing the ugly expression on her youngest sister, the Thorn Queen could only shake her head deep inside. Although they were only born seconds away from each other, they were too far apart when it came to their level of intelligence.
'I swear, if she wasn't my sister.'
Compared to Yvonne, both Viva and Vera weren't her match, even combined. At the very least, however, Viva always prioritized her older sister's guidance to compensate for what she lacked, showing absolute obedience.
On the other hand, Vera was always a wild card. Her extreme lack of self-awareness made her far too arrogant to integrate into any form of human community.
As a result, the Thorn Queen always had to make various adjustments to fit her youngest sister into their new persona; the fact that she didn't already blow the Thorn Trio's cover could be considered half a miracle!
'You'd better listen this time.'
Jabbing Vera with her index finger to stop frowning, Yvonne let go of her frustration. Thankfully, when it came to combat performance, the Thorn Sword was very worthy of her title.
She never really stopped at just pulling her own weight. In certain scenarios, she could outperform both of her sisters combined!
Of course, even if that wasn't the case, Yvonne's expressions of anger never went beyond simple reprimands. After all, as far as the Thorn Queen was concerned, smart or not, all three of them were of regal blood.
She could insult her sisters as many times as she wanted, but if someone else did it, she might act up even before Vera did… Granted that the situation allowed actions of that nature, just like it was back in the day!

Sitting quite a distance away from them, the closed-eyed Aurora let out a long exhale as her blonde hair shimmered like a beacon of light.
'I can do it.'
Unbeknownst to the worrying Leo, the current Aurora wasn't as much of a hopeless case as he thought. Let alone rehabilitation, she was steadily on the path to breaking free from the constraints of her 'Light'.
'I'm already being careful, so curb away the negative emotions.'
Thankfully, over the last couple of meetings she had with the team, Aurora was slowly able to adjust so she could get over her Thorn sickness.
While it wasn't that perfect, at the very least, she no longer had to keep herself from throwing up when she stood next to any of the Thorn siblings.
Given how extreme the reaction had been on their first meeting, it wasn't an easy task. However, through trial and error, Aurora was still able to pull it off.
In fact, as much of a pain in the behind as it was, it was quite the constructive learning opportunity. Through Aurora's experimentation, she was able to find a new way to deal with her clashing emotions.
She was no longer just an observer of the contrasting wills clashing within her psyche. Just like she did now, Aurora had become a semi-participant in their ensuing arguments, able to steer things in certain directions based on her now well-rounded point of view.
'If it's a message that you want to deliver, then I have already received it.'
Whether it was truly a premonition or not, just by spending some time on the web, it gradually became obvious to Aurora that this was her subconscious mind's unique way of delivering a warning.
Although hers was a lot more severe, Aurora found out that her condition wasn't one of its kind. Other people online spoke of having similarly imposing instincts. In their opinion, that was just being intuitive.
Ranging from small bangs of unease and up to full-blown nausea, all of the people who told their story admitted that, in most instances, when they followed that imposing instinct, it led to positive results.
None of them really understood how they could 'predict' stuff like that, and they couldn't do it of their own will. However, the most popular interpretations always pointed to the awesomeness of the human brain.
The computational powers of the human brain were way too fast compared to what the conscious mind could handle; the rest of the brain's power went to the subconscious mind, giving it the ability to analyze recorded information, possibly deducing the future based on overlayered pattern recognition!
'Have I finally seen enough to recognize really bad people when I see them?'
That being said, while Aurora tried to convince herself that her case was just another variation of that explanation, deep down, she knew that it was far from enough.
Even if she disregarded the fact that this only started happening less than a year ago, the current Aurora was aware that her past self had been way too dense for this.
The way it started was even more abnormal. Obtaining intuition was widely acknowledged for being a gradual process; air-headed people couldn't suddenly turn intelligent for no apparent reason.
However, as someone who already had a lot on her mind, Aurora simply couldn't afford to have one more unsolved topic cluttered in her crowded mind, at least not one in which the answer could never be truly confirmed.
"We enter."
Such topics were best left to answer themselves. Rather than self-doubt, Aurora chose to enter their first Gate with confidence!
