Otherworldly Affairs Office-Chapter 97: Mu Haoran, the Man and His Story
Chapter 97: Chapter 97: Mu Haoran, the Man and His Story
As soon as Yuan Shaoqing finished speaking, a murmur of discussion erupted around the conference room. Not long after, someone raised a hand to ask, "Could it be a frame-up, retaliation by someone?"
"Based on the autopsy findings, there are no fatal injuries on the bodies of the mother and daughter. There are some bruises and irregular scratches on their muscles, but these are not fatal. The true cause of death was the severe stimulation of the brain nerves, leading to necrosis of brain tissue and heart muscle tears amid extreme excitement, resulting in cardiac arrest."
"Isn’t this just like the symptoms of drug use?"
"Yes, but how could a child use drugs?"
"But it’s impossible to harm one’s own child so viciously, isn’t it? Even a tiger would not eat its cubs."
As soon as Yuan Shaoqing’s voice dropped, the room fell into discussion again. Moments later, someone else asked, "Have the motives been clarified? What does his wife do? Is there marital discord? Crime of passion? Economic disputes? Otherwise, this whole thing sounds too inconceivable. Even if defecting to the Divine Desire Organization, there’s no need to murder one’s family. Is it possible the scene was staged?"
"Based on the autopsy report, although traces of strong hallucinogenic stimulants were found in the state of death, no related drug residues were detected in their bodies. It is essentially concluded that Mu Haoran himself was responsible. This was also confirmed during limited exchanges between the investigating bureau’s officers and Mu Haoran during the subsequent capture."
"However, he hasn’t provided an answer about the specific motive for the crime. The possibility of a crime of passion or accidental killing due to loss of control cannot be ruled out. His wife, Xie Chuxuan, is a middle school teacher without any special abilities, and no third-party interference was found from social relations. Based on statements from neighbors and colleagues in the investigation bureau, it’s proven that the couple had a very good relationship over their eight-year marriage, and Mu Haoran was very fond of his daughter, considering her his treasured jewel. It should be noted here that Xie Chuxuan’s brother, Xie Chujun..."
Yuan Shaoqing paused for a moment, glanced in the direction of the investigation bureau, and continued, "Her brother, Xie Chujun, is an agent in the investigation bureau, and it was under his auspices that Mu Haoran and her sister met and got together."
"Do Mu Haoran and this Xie Chujun harbor any personal resentments?" someone from the crowd asked.
From a corner of the conference room, Gu Shenghui’s deep voice emerged: "At least, before this incident, there was none. They were very good friends, and Xie Chujun even saved Mu Haoran’s life on multiple occasions during missions."
"Alright, please continue!" Director Mei waved his hand from the front directing an order. ƒrēenovelkiss.com
"Yes!" Yuan Shaoqing nodded and pointed back to the screen, continuing the explanation: "After his wife’s death, Mu Haoran went missing. The investigation bureau immediately coordinated with the police to conduct a manhunt, yet his counter-surveillance skills are strong, and he frequently escaped from the capture operations thanks to his years of action experience in the investigation bureau. It was during these numerous captures that the officers made brief contacts with him, during which he freely confessed to the crime of murdering his wife and child."
"To evade capture, Mu Haoran drifted across the country for the next three years, with his whereabouts becoming increasingly elusive. Faced with capture efforts, his actions grew more aggressive, resulting in the deaths of eleven agents during those three years due to his actions."
"Thus, when his tracks reappeared in his hometown, Xiangtan, to ensure the success of this mission, the investigation bureau dispatched a large number of personnel led by then-Director Ren Changming to orchestrate the capture."
"During this capture, Mu Haoran’s link to the Divine Desire Organization was exposed, leading to a massive ambush against the agents by members of the Divine Desire Organization from home and abroad. Among the eighteen agents sacrificed were Director Ren. In subsequent support operations organized by the investigation bureau, eight more agents were sacrificed to eradicate most of the invading enemies. Mu Haoran was critically injured and rescued by his accomplices, with his whereabouts unknown."
At this point, Yuan Shaoqing picked up a bottle of mineral water in front of him, drank half of it, and pointed to the next picture of Mu Haoran sitting on a chair under the moonlight. He continued, "This incident has brought him back into our sight, and he now refers to himself as Mu Fanchen, one of the primary responsible parties of the Divine Desire Organization in the Asia-Pacific region. For convenience, in the subsequent narration, I will use his current name."
"Have the locations in the picture been confirmed?" Elder Lin inquired while seated at the conference table.
"On that evening, Pei Yan witnessed and recorded the photographs. Based on this teenager in Japanese attire wielding a sword...." Yuan Shaoqing pointed to the image of the teenager on the screen, "considering the angle of the moonlight and the vegetation of the forest, our investigation initially focused on Japan. We invited experts from various fields such as botany, geography, and climate to analyze the scene from the pictures to determine the actual location and corroborated it with satellite images." Yuan Shaoqing spoke while pointing at several scene pictures displayed on the screen.
"After verifying over four days using the above information, we successfully located the incident site, marked by the significant damage to the trees caused by the sword-wielding teenager. It was in the mountainous region of Shinde Town, Shangchuan County, Hokkaido, Japan."
"As expected from intelligence operatives, they were able to uncover the destination information in such a short time. Their resources are indeed far superior to ours," Gu Shenghui whispered in Elder Lin’s ear, to which Elder Lin nodded in agreement.
Gu Shenghui then looked up and asked, "Do you have any information on the identities of these two teenagers?"
"Sorry, we are still investigating that," Yuan Shaoqing shook his head and said. He then excitedly pointed at the screen: "However, after inspecting the nearby area, we discovered Mu Fanchen’s hideout." While saying this, he introduced several images that followed on the screen.
Everyone’s attention was drawn to the screen, which displayed an aerial view of a sizable traditional Japanese-style building. As Yuan Shaoqing slid through the images, they quickly noticed Mu Fanchen, dressed in Japanese attire, moving in and out of the courtyard. In one of the pictures, even though blurry, Gu Shenghui instantly recognized that it was indeed him.
"Who owns this property?" Gu Shenghui asked as he stood scrutinizing the images.
"We have investigated and found that the property belongs to Da You Pharmaceutical, a small-scale pharmaceutical company. We have conducted a preliminary understanding of its operations and have yet to find any links to the Divine Desire Organization. We also haven’t found any connections between the two teenagers and the company. Further investigation is necessary for more intelligence." Yuan Shaoqing explained, with his back turned.
"This is beyond my expectations, very well done." Gu Shenghui nodded in satisfaction and sat back down.
Amid the chorus of nods and approvals, Director Mei waved his hand towards Yuan Shaoqing in the front: "Very well, let’s proceed to the next information briefing."
