Out of Control: Into Your Everything-Chapter 114: Only Like
Scarlett Shaw was slightly stunned.
She was indeed still feeling blocked.
"The reason I want to cry isn’t even you." Scarlett hummed softly, "Julian Ford, you better stop chasing me. Let’s just forget about the whole relationship thing."
The elevator arrived at the floor.
Scarlett and Julian walked out one after the other, and the latter calmly said after hearing her words, "You can reject me, but I won’t give up on pursuing you for now."
Scarlett: "..."
Listen to that, how precise.
For now, won’t.
Scarlett laughed exasperatedly, "Julian Ford, do you know what image just flashed through my mind?"
"Hmm?"
"If we were to really get together, on the day we break up, I’d definitely be heartbroken and in utter disarray, while you’d leave unscathed, gracefully and without attachment."
Scarlett spoke as she opened the door.
"Do you think, knowing this outcome, I’d still jump into the fire pit?"
Julian raised an eyebrow slightly, backed her into the doorway, and said, "If we don’t try, how would you know it won’t be the opposite?"
"I have no intention of making you sad, nor any interest in emotional games. I’ve said before, I hope you’re always happy, but that doesn’t mean your happiness should be built on my pain."
Scarlett pushed his hand away, took off her coat, and hung it aside, speaking with her back to him.
Julian’s gaze deepened as he walked to the kitchen and opened the fridge to take a look.
Scarlett turned around to see the man standing tall in the kitchen, naturally starting to cook.
Scarlett was surprised, "Julian Ford, you actually know how to cook?"
Julian’s hands didn’t stop as he replied, "Didn’t I make you breakfast at Cloud Mansion before?"
"Breakfast is simple, just fry some bacon, toast some bread, and make some coffee. Anyone can do it."
Scarlett spoke as she approached, suddenly remembering that this person had washed dishes at her place before, and now his cooking actions seemed quite skilled. She couldn’t help but ask:
"You’re such a distinguished young master, how come you’re willing to lower yourself to wash dishes and cook so well?"
At a glance, he’s clearly not an amateur.
Scarlett, thinking back to something, continued, "Speaking of which, Ryan Ford also knows how to cook. Could it be you two brothers have some survival script?"
Julian paused in his actions, glancing down at her, "You seem to remember a lot about Ryan Ford, don’t you?"
Scarlett: "I can’t help it; I’ve got a good memory."
"When you dated him, weren’t you aware it wasn’t going to last forever? Hmm? As far as I know, he didn’t hide his Ford family identity from you."
Julian’s sudden words made Scarlett’s hair stand on end.
Julian smiled at her, "Or are you saying you were with him just for the experience, regardless of the outcome, even if you’d get hurt, you’d have no regrets?"
Scarlett: "..."
Julian: "I’m right, aren’t I?"
"At that time, I didn’t think much. Besides, Ryan did help me a lot. It was more about gratitude than anything else, ahem, more than that."
The word ’like’ was something Scarlett didn’t dare speak under Julian’s dangerously calm gaze.
How did this conversation turn to her being the guilty one?
Julian: "I even heard from Ryan that it was you who confessed first, and he never pursued you."
"..."
Scarlett surrendered, "Why would Ryan discuss this with you?"
Julian wiped his hands, placed a hand on her face, and said calmly yet pressingly, "Scarlett, Ryan wasn’t sincere with you, yet you tolerated him. I’m earnest about pursuing you, isn’t pushing me away a bit of a double standard?"
Scarlett: "..."
If Julian kept circling her like this, she’d be finished.
"It’s just that I’ve learned my lesson." Scarlett defended herself, "And who hasn’t had a reckless youth? I respect you so much, I never ask about your past relationships."
Julian looked at her, "Even if you asked, there wouldn’t be any."
Scarlett froze.
His long fingers paused on her face before Julian retrieved them and continued cooking.
The meal was ready and served.
Although Julian wasn’t a master chef, the taste was homely, and he deliberately catered to Scarlett’s preferences while cooking.
Normally, Scarlett would eat earnestly and lavishly praise the meal.
But today, with too much information in her head, even after eating, and seeing Julian naturally clean the dishes, as he dried his hands with a tissue, she finally couldn’t resist, moved in front of him and asked:
"What did you mean by ’nothing’ earlier?"
Julian tossed the tissue into the trash, giving her a sidelong glance, and said lightly, "Exactly as it sounded."
"So, you only like me."
Scarlett blurted out the words.
Julian initially intended to ignore it.
But seeing her almond eyes filled with anticipation, enough to make him, for the first time, reluctant to shatter her hope.
"Mm."
Scarlett heard a low affirmation from Julian.
However, Julian clearly wouldn’t let her remain triumphant so easily. After affirming her, he immediately said, "Feelings have always been a false proposition for me. Liking is liking, but the life-and-death kind of love, Scarlett, is absolutely impossible."
Scarlett nodded, "Got it."
Her expression was already noticeably absent-minded.
Julian put on his coat, gave her a glance, "I’m leaving."
Scarlett: "Oh, okay."
Julian: "..."
Scarlett: "I’ll see you downstairs."
Compared to the awkward and uncomfortable atmosphere when they returned, Scarlett seeing Julian off now seemed harmonious and pleasant.
As Julian got into the car, Scarlett kindly waved at him, "Goodnight~"

In the rearview mirror, Scarlett’s figure, wrapped in a down jacket, stood in place watching him off, and Julian fiddled with his tie, irritably pulling it loose.
For the rare occasion, he felt a sense of losing control over a situation.
Feeling something for Scarlett wasn’t something he couldn’t admit.
But in the past, any behavior of liking he displayed toward Scarlett was always rational and well thought out, except just now, when she looked at him and said that sentence, leading his answer by his emotions for the first time.
...
When Scarlett went to visit Yana Yarrow in the hospital again, unsurprisingly, she was interrogated about everything that happened with Julian.
Considering Jasper Spencer was present, Scarlett didn’t go into too much detail, just tacitly admitted their speculations from the previous night.
Yana: "So how do you feel now?"
Scarlett: "Just going with the flow."
Yana raised an eyebrow, "That’s not like you."
Scarlett held a freshly washed strawberry to Yana’s mouth, asking, "What’s my style then?"
Yana: "If you like him, go for it like a duck."
Scarlett chuckled and fed her another strawberry.
Jasper Spencer, who had been listening intently, unusually agreed, "I also support you being with Julian Ford."
Yana eyed him warily, "Jasper Spencer, you’re not planning to cause trouble like you did with Zoe Sutton, are you?"
