Out of Control: Into Your Everything-Chapter 152: I Want to See You
Josiah Sutton suddenly fell silent, turned around and entered the office, his thoughts complex as he changed into a white coat.
Just now, he had a conversation with Scarlett Shaw. She was calm and even asked him to inform her about Julian Ford’s future treatment plans. He thought it was her first visit, making arrangements for the future.
He never imagined that Scarlett had actually visited quietly many times.
However, she didn’t know when Julian Ford would be there. She would figure out a possible time based on subtle interactions with him, and then resolutely do something with an uncertain outcome.
Josiah Sutton’s friendliness towards Scarlett Shaw partly stemmed from his own cultivation.
The other part was due to Julian Ford’s attitude towards Scarlett; a woman valued by a good friend wouldn’t be overlooked by him.
But today’s Scarlett Shaw gradually made him understand why Julian Ford was moved by her.
To be loved by such a girl, wouldn’t that be a blessing in life?
Compared to his good friend’s luck, he, who encountered a heartless woman and was abandoned after being swindled out of a large sum, might as well consider it a rare life experience. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Today, Scarlett Shaw deliberately wore clothes rarely seen on her, in dark tones, low-key and simple, and wore a medical mask, so much so that even Yana Yarrow might not recognize her in front of her.
She stood far away, and when she saw Julian Ford coming out of neurosurgery, she quietly hid herself in the crowd.
She watched him sit alone on a bench in the hospital for a long time, his expression indifferent, distant, and as calm as water.
There was no hint of a patient worrying about his own health.
It was still the same familiar look that Scarlett knew so well, but her heart ached. She didn’t know if it was because of wearing a mask or being too sad, her breathing quickened.
The hospital was busiest in the morning. The position where Scarlett stood was not far from the operating room. Patients were constantly being pushed in and out, with families accompanying them outside, some shedding tears out of worry and anxiety, and others rejoicing at the smooth success of the surgeries.
Julian Ford was still alone in the distance.
After an unknown length of time, Julian Ford stood up, appearing to leave.
The hospital corridor was narrow. A little boy with his head wrapped in gauze was running around without watching the road and bumped into Julian Ford’s leg.
Julian Ford’s face was handsome as ever, but his demeanor was icy, and his aura was intimidating. As soon as the little boy looked up, he was too frightened to speak.
Scarlett Shaw saw Julian Ford lower his eyes, then slowly squat down, patting the boy’s shoulder. His expression subtly softened until the boy’s parents arrived, and then he took a step to leave.
She watched him again, walking out of the hospital alone and driving away alone.
The car Julian Ford drove today was one Scarlett had never seen before, low-key in design and not luxurious, obviously not intended to attract attention.
In the spring breeze, Scarlett Shaw watched the car disappear in the distance, the moisture gathering in her eyes growing heavier, her vision becoming increasingly blurred.
If she were in front of Julian Ford right now, she would certainly be unable to hold back her tears. Even though it was him who was sick, she felt as if she were the one feeling miserable, her entire body in pain.
Even though he would always say those calm, rational, and unsentimental words, he would always catch her tears, his embrace warm and reliable.
But there were no ’ifs’.
During this period of loving Julian Ford, Scarlett Shaw became more fragile and also stronger than before.
Previously, she didn’t actually believe in making wishes upon shooting stars.
But that night, she really hoped so much.
Hoped so much that the wish would come true.
Just like the birthday blessing she had once given him.
Although at that time she didn’t know he was ill, even someone as oblivious as Jasper Spencer could sense Julian Ford’s indifference to his own life. How could Scarlett, who had spent so much time with him, not notice anything strange?
Scarlett Shaw’s wish had always been for Julian Ford to be eternally happy and live well.
However, if the wish could be a bit more extravagant, she would selfishly wish that the person who could always be by his side would be herself.
Tears that hadn’t fallen were evaporating in the spring breeze.
Just as Scarlett Shaw was about to leave the hospital, her phone rang with a call.
It was Julian Ford.
She quickly composed herself, forced down the bitterness that had just surged up, and answered the call.
Julian Ford: "Where are you?"
Avoiding letting her clever boyfriend see through her, Scarlett vaguely asked, "Is there something you need?"
The other side paused slightly, then Julian Ford calmly said, "I’m done with my matters. If you’re available, I can help you with your move this afternoon."
Scarlett was slightly stunned.
For some reason, what came to mind was the image of Julian Ford sitting alone in the hospital corridor.
Almost instinctively, she blurted out, "Is it really about the move, or do you just want to see me?"
She tried to make her tone sound like she was playfully teasing, so he wouldn’t sense anything unusual.
It was quiet for a few seconds.
"The latter."
Julian Ford said calmly.
"I want to see you."
Actually, in the instant she asked the question, Scarlett already had the answer in her heart. She didn’t know when she became so attuned to Julian Ford’s thoughts. She only knew that if it were any other time and she heard him express his feelings so frankly, she would definitely be happy and smug.
But now, she couldn’t even muster a faint smile.
She was still happy inside, but compared to the joy of being cared for by him, there was a stronger urge to appear in front of him immediately and hold him tight.
Julian Ford’s underlying tone of wanting to see her, others might not understand, but how could Scarlett not understand?
Seemingly invulnerable Julian Ford was actually telling her:
I really need you right now.
Scarlett blinked hard, forcing back her tears, "I..."
The words ’I’m coming to see you right away’ were drowned out by the sudden sound of an ambulance stopping at the hospital entrance.
Scarlett instinctively looked in the direction of the sound.
The ambulance braked urgently at the hospital entrance, and paramedics carried out a stretcher, on which lay a middle-aged man covered in blood and already unconscious.
Following closely were two police cars, and the people getting out were all in plain clothes, some were injured, but only lightly, and their wounds had been simply treated.
"The officer brought down by the ambulance looks quite old, with blood gushing out. Can his life be saved?"
"Hope so, but I saw the officer got shot in the leg and abdomen, quite alarming."
"What exactly happened? Assaulting police officers means prison time, and more than one got hurt!"
"Missions are kept absolutely confidential; how could we know."
The surrounding sounds were chaotic and noisy, even Julian Ford on the other side of the phone could hear, "Are you at the hospital?"
