Out of fear of death, Invest Everything into Health-Chapter 316 - 157: Great Plague Immortal
He walked up to the three of them, "Greetings to the three seniors."
Chen Si stared blankly at the army of vengeful spirits behind him, "What... what’s going on here?"
Fan Wubing laughed and said, "I told them that once they leave Zhezhu Lake, they would turn into wandering ghosts, and they might just be captured by the Ghost Cultivators to refine souls. Hearing that, they got scared and obediently carried their coffin boards back."
Then he turned around and said to the group of vengeful spirits, "Put the coffin boards back in place, then go back home and stay put. Got it!"
The group of vengeful spirits, trembling with fear, quickly turned and headed towards the Chaotic Burial Mound on the lower left side of Soul Capturing Island.
Fan Wubing stepped forward, kicked the leading vengeful spirit to the ground, "How many times have I told you, chant the slogans, and march properly!"
The leading vengeful spirit quickly got up, shouted the slogan, and led the group of spirits marching back to the Chaotic Burial Mound. Once they got there, they stopped in front of a freshly dug grave, threw the coffin boards in, and then jumped in themselves, even shoveling some dirt over themselves to bury properly.
Chen Si and Qi Wu gaped at the spirits, then stiffly turned their heads to look at Fan Wubing.
It was their first time realizing that vengeful spirits could be communicated with... Those things were spirits formed from the resentment of people who met tragic ends, forsaken by gods and reviled by ghosts! They can’t call out to the heavens or speak to the earth! Yet they’ve been trained to act like sheep! Even sheep aren’t this obedient; they’d ram at their owner if provoked!
Qin San suddenly laughed, her voice was so lovely that without looking, one might mistake her for a great beauty.
But looking at her, Fan Wubing couldn’t help but say, "Sister’s eyes are truly beautiful!"
He wasn’t just being polite; anyone who looked at her eyes would remark on their beauty. They were entirely amber, with colors and patterns in the pupils resembling the end of a deep forest, the stars reflecting on a serene cold water lake.
Qin San covered her face with a smile, "I’m Qin San. Just call me Third Sister. Do you really think my eyes are pretty?"
Fan Wubing grinned, "So pretty I’d like to treasure them!"
Qin San asked, "You want them?"
"I want them," Fan Wubing replied immediately.
So Qin San pressed her fingers against her left eye socket, pinched and pulled, taking her left eye out to give to Fan Wubing, laughing coquettishly, "The left eye is connected to the heart. Third Sister’s given her heart to you, take good care of it."
The eye was just an eyeball, without any flesh or blood vessels attached.
Fan Wubing received it, felt its warmth in his hand, and said happily, "Thank you, Third Sister."
Qin San laughed charmingly, twisted her body, and left.
Chen Si and Qi Wu stared blankly at Fan Wubing, gasping inwardly, thinking, "This guy, he’s not without problems! He took down Third Sister just like that."
Chen Si said, "Follow me. Whether you can become a Prison Guard will depend on our boss."
"Zhang Yi?"
"Yeah."
Fan Wubing looked ahead.
The so-called Soul-Devouring Abyssal Prison... from the outside, it looked like a giant gravestone. It wasn’t a spooky large prison nor a majestic solemn palace. That was unexpected.
Chen Si led Fan Wubing into the Abyssal Prison.
The scene inside was entirely different again.
Corkscrewing stone staircases were everywhere, not connected to each other, seemingly built randomly, with no way of telling where each staircase might lead. Beyond the stairs was a thick, gray mist, impossible to see through.
Fan Wubing tried to sense it using the Unwarranted Qi Creation Skill, but the mist clung like glue, unable to move deeper.
Chen Si lit three sticks of incense, wisps of blue smoke rising, merging in midair, before floating toward one of the staircases.
"What’s this?"
Chen Si said, "Soul-Guiding Incense. The paths in the Abyssal Prison are indefinite; the route you took last time might lead somewhere entirely different next time, so the Soul-Guiding Incense is used to find the way."
Following the path indicated by the Soul-Guiding Incense.
"Kid, you need to reach the destination before the Soul-Guiding Incense burns out, or else you’ll get lost."
"What happens if you get lost?"
Chen Si gave a ghastly laugh, "Either wait for the boss to fetch you, or wait to die. That guy who looked like a paper person, Qi Wu, got lost once and was stuck for over fifty years before the boss fetched him. He was lucky, rescued with just a breath left."
Fan Wubing’s brow furrowed slightly.
The scene here reminded him of a great Dao, one of the Nine Great Innate Dao, the "Cosmic Dao," which governs all spatial aspects throughout history, commonly known as the Space Dao. Cultivating the Cosmic Dao makes one the Lord of Space.
He wondered if this Abyssal Prison was constructed with the Cosmic Dao.
Before the Soul-Guiding Incense burned out, they reached their destination.
At the end of the stone steps, Chen Si pushed open a heavy stone door, announcing, "Boss, the person is here."
The room behind the stone door was vast, Fan Wubing glanced around, not spotting the so-called boss, just seeing a huge rockery of mysterious gold and vermilion.
He asked, "Where’s the boss?"
Chen Si chuckled, "Right in front of you!"
Fan Wubing was stunned, looked closer.
The massive thing crammed into the room wasn’t a rockery but a massive fat guy, whose butt was as big as a mountain. He was sitting on the floor, and the folds of fat on his belly hung down layer upon layer like spring rolls, further up, his greasy head had thick folds, trembling slightly.
He was so fat that his eyes were reduced to slits covered by flesh; through those slits, one could see a pair of ink-black eyes.
He stared at Fan Wubing, took one look, and then said in a sharp voice, "Qualified." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Chen Si was stunned, "That’s qualified?"
"He’s as sickly as can be, naturally he’s qualified. Off you go, I need to eat now."
After speaking, a gust of wind blew the two out, and then the stone door slammed shut, inside came the sound of crunching, like very thick bones being chewed.
Chen Si looked at Fan Wubing in shock, "I didn’t expect you to be so deeply afflicted."
Fan Wubing chuckled lightly, "You’re flattering me."
Actually, he had just simulated some of the diseases from Sickness City using the Unwarranted Qi Creation Skill.
Not much, just fifty of them.
If he simulated all more than seven thousand of them, who knows what the evaluation would be.
Great Plague Immortal?
