Overpowered Awakening: I Became Invincible With A Broken Talent-Chapter 185: The Pathos (1)
Death came in such rapid succession that he completely lost track of time as his sanity gradually deteriorated. It became so severe that he first forgot about his situation, and then, little by little, he forgot his own name as well.
He could neither hear nor see, neither feel nor speak. He was reduced to nothing more than a toy in the hands of the reassembled corpse, which continued killing him over a dozen times within a single minute.
The Dragon Tamer watched silently with its hands folded.
The Feral Aurax watched with a thrilled grin plastered across its face. Watching Marlon die, watching him come back to life only to meet the exact same fate again was something far greater to it. In its eyes, this was the best entertainment it had experienced since the moment it was created.
In a discarded corner of the battlefield lay Draven, still being tossed around like a ping-pong ball by the two massive bone structures. His body was far more durable than that of humans at his level, and as a result, he remained alive while pain slowly became his closest companion.
Far away from the carnage, Norian lay unconscious, completely unmoving.
The three of them had been reduced to their lowest possible states, but Marlon had it the worst. The reassembler possessed no conscience, nor did it rely on stamina. It could continue killing him endlessly for days, even months, without growing tired, as long as the Aurax remained alive.
The two Aurax continued watching.
Suddenly, however, their expressions twisted as both lifted their heads toward the sky, where they sensed something approaching.
The Dragon Tamer narrowed its eyes as it scrutinized the seemingly empty heavens above.
The Feral one grinned and spoke casually, "A new visitor?"
Although neither of them could see anything with their eyes, both could clearly sense that something was rapidly drawing closer.
Before they could discuss it any further, a golden spaceship emerged from the empty clouds, appearing out of nowhere as it hovered directly above them.
At that very instant, a door on the ship opened stylishly, revealing four figures standing within.
The Aurax, including the usually unserious one, frowned with unease as they observed the unfamiliar newcomers. They looked human, yet not human at the same time.
For one, unlike humans whose skin ranged from pale white to brown, these figures possessed the darkest shade of black, their skin glowing elegantly as though drenched in fine oil. Each of them had brilliantly slick white hair reminiscent of angels, and their foreheads bore distinctive tattoos. They were none other than the Vereenas, and the Aurax immediately recognized them.
Meanwhile, as the Aurax analyzed the cause of their sudden appearance, one of the Vereenas standing aboard the golden ship turned and stepped forward. He positioned himself at the center of the group, lifted his hand, and signaled for the remaining four to act.
And they did.
One of them, a male bearing a bright golden tattoo of a blazing sun on his forehead, was the first to move.
His fiery golden eyes lit up like the sun itself as an arrogant smirk spread across his face.
In the next instant, he transformed into a blazing streak of matter and descended toward the ground with unfathomable speed, heading straight for the spot where Marlon was being utterly destroyed by the reassembled corpse.
Time seemed to slow by a slight margin as he arrived beside it and reverted to his original form. His right hand glowed menacingly with raging flames, radiating a level of heat far beyond anything a human could wield or even hope to resist.
Maintaining the same arrogant grin, he struck the reassembled corpse before it could even comprehend what was happening.
The moment his fist connected, the tattoo on his forehead and his eyes glowed even brighter. In the very next moment, the reassembled corpse disintegrated completely into ash and was wiped out of existence.
"Hahah.." the young and arrogant Vereena burst into laughter as he admired his own handiwork.
Nonetheless, while he single-handedly dealt with the corpse (an S-rank threat whose strength and speed were comparable to an SS-rank) another of his colleagues calmly launched himself down from the ship. His hands were tucked behind his head as he descended in a relaxed manner.
Unlike Orion, who possessed crescent-shaped eyes and a crescent moon tattoo, and unlike the arrogant Vereena with golden eyes and a golden sun tattoo, this individual bore a simple smoky jet-black circle on his forehead. The symbol appeared far less sophisticated than the others, yet far more frightening in its own way. His eyes were completely jet-black as well. Unlike the rest, whose long white hair flowed freely down their shoulders, he had long jet-black hair tied neatly into a ponytail.
While still midair, he casually waved his hand toward the two Aurax, who had seemingly frozen in place due to shock.
Instantly, two shadow pits opened beneath them.
The two Aurax remained unnaturally motionless as a sudden shift in gravity slammed them downward. They were dragged into the shadow pits beneath their feet and were completely swallowed.
The black haired Vereena landed softly on the spot where the two Aurax had vanished, his expression cold and unchanging. He lifted his head toward the ship above and gave a brief nod.
Standing aboard the ship, Orion nodded back and finally halted the mental suppression he had cast upon the two Aurax, a power that had kept them frozen against their will.
He then turned toward the Vereena standing to his right. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
She was female. Like the others, she possessed black skin and white hair. She stood tall, her build lean, muscular, and curvy in a way that could rival professional models. Her pupils were shaped like golden stars, identical to the golden star-shaped tattoo etched onto her forehead.
She retrieved a plain-looking orb from her inventory and began channeling her power into it. The orb quickly transformed, reshaping itself into a golden suit that wrapped tightly around her body and accentuated her curves.
After giving Orion a brief nod, she launched herself down toward the ground using the suit, which had been created through her Stellar Infusion ability.
She landed beside Marlon’s ’dead body,’ which was already regenerating at a rapid pace. Nearby stood her colleague, who quickly approached her with the same arrogant expression as before. A slight frown appeared on her face as she turned away, already knowing what was about to follow.
"Liora, did you see how fast I killed that thing? It didn’t even see me coming!" he bragged.
Liora ignored him and squatted beside Marlon and placed her hand on his forehead, carefully checking his condition.
"Excuse me."
She heard a familiar gentle voice and stepped aside.
Orion who had appeared so gently that she hadn’t noticed him, stepped forward.
He used telekenisis to make Marlon float towards him and then placed his hand on his head and began casting a skill.
Liora then walked toward the shadow pit user, who stood some distance away with his hands still resting behind his head.
"How long can you keep those two in the void, Nox?"
"Ten minutes," he replied casually before continuing, "They are already using their powers to resist the void. It might not hold them for that long."
