Pampered by My Ex's Cousin-Chapter 1240 - 1242: Signs of Jealousy (Part 9)
Hearing Xin Xiaoxiao’s remark, she hesitated with a spoonful of soup, unsure whether to put it back in the bowl or into her mouth.
The silent atmosphere suddenly became filled with intense awkwardness.
Qiu Yang paused his actions, lifting his eyes to look over at Xin Xiaoxiao.
Qi Helian quickly reached out, casually picked a crispy shrimp, and placed it in Xin Xiaoxiao’s bowl, "Miss, just eat, this shrimp looks quite tasty."
Xin Xiaoxiao realized she might have gone too far earlier. She picked up the bowl again, took the spoon, and while scooping soup, said, "Actually, the taste should be not bad. I was just mistaken, thought it was chicken soup."
Clearly, it was vegetable tofu soup, mistaking it for chicken soup...
Could her lie sound any less convincing?
After filling the bowl more than halfway, she took a sip, then smiled and said to Qi Helian, "You haven’t finished signing yet. After dinner, sign it for me."
Qi Helian joked with her, "How about you give me a five million appearance fee, and next time I’ll accompany you to dine with those lady friends of yours."
"Tch." Xin Xiaoxiao rolled her eyes at him, "If I had a five million appearance fee, I’d rather give it to my husband and have him dine with me."
Qi Helian laughed and said, "Your husband might accompany me to a charity event next month. Do you want a close encounter with your husband?"
"Great, great." Xin Xiaoxiao put down her bowl and excitedly grabbed onto Qi Helian’s arm, "You must take me. I want a chance to sleep with my husband."
Interest lingered.
Qi Helian: "..."
The atmosphere suddenly felt a bit... odd.
Ji Anning looked at Qi Helian and Xin Xiaoxiao, who were chatting away, and then at Xiang Yiqing and Qiu Yang, who were discussing medical matters with smiles.
Everything seemed calm and normal, as if this was how it should be, as it was supposed to be.
But she still felt as if there were undercurrents swirling.
As for the evidence... well, there wasn’t any yet.
Ji Anning thought this over, pouted slightly, then turned her attention back to the pile of shrimp shells in front of her. She frowned and glared at the man beside her, "Uncle, I counted on you to peel shrimp for me, but you ate all my shrimp and left me with nothing but shells."
Ji Chicheng calmly replied, "Shrimp shells are high in protein, good for my son."
Ji Anning: "..."
Hearing their conversation, Qi Helian turned to Ji Anning and said, "Then you give him the shrimp shells to eat."
"Exactly, you eat" Ji Anning picked up a shrimp shell and held it to Ji Chicheng’s lips.
Ji Chicheng looked at her amusingly, his eyes full of affection.
After a while, he opened his mouth and bit the shrimp shell.
Ji Anning frowned, "You actually ate it."
She quickly reached out, pried open Ji Chicheng’s mouth, and took the shrimp shell out.
To others, the two of them looked like they were flaunting their affection.
Xin Xiaoxiao, holding a chicken wing and nibbling on it, watched Ji Anning and him and said, "Since you two are so in love, why not have a wedding?"
Ji Anning gently shook her head, "I don’t want to, it’s very troublesome."
Xin Xiaoxiao frowned, "How can you not have a wedding? The day a woman wears her wedding dress, she is the most beautiful."
Having finished her chicken wing, Xin Xiaoxiao licked her fingers while enthusiastically saying to Ji Anning, "When you get married, I’ll be your bridesmaid."
Xin Xiaoxiao’s nails still had polish on them, watching her licking with relish, Xiang Yiqing frowned tightly, really wanting to go over and chop off her fingers.
