Pampered by My Secret Husband-Chapter 612 - 615: She is Sophie Sullivan, She is also Cecilia Branford
"And not just saying it, but actually showing it, you know?"
Women are sensitive creatures. If you can’t make them feel your sincerity, then no matter how much you say or how beautifully you speak, it’s useless.
Thomas Shannon raised his hand, rubbing his forehead. Am I not good enough for her? She always seems to provoke me...
She spent the entire day at the hospital with Lucifer. She isn’t gentle and never shows weakness. What other woman is as headstrong and rude as her?
"Thomas," Edward Benson chuckled lightly. His voice, clear and distinct, reached Thomas Shannon’s ears, sending a shiver through him. "—Isn’t it precisely because of these unique traits that you were drawn to her? If she were another woman—obedient, gentle, and understanding—would you still like her?"
Thomas Shannon’s brow furrowed. If Sophie Sullivan changed that awful temper of hers, would she still be Sophie?
No... She wouldn’t be.
She is Sophie Sullivan, and she is also Cecilia Branford.
Even after enduring so much pain and hardship, even after losing her memory, she never lost her inherent pride or the arrogance and willfulness ingrained in her from a young age.
If she changed these traits, these qualities unique to her, would she still be the same person? Would he still like her?
Thomas Shannon chuckled, resting his forehead in his hand. No, he wouldn’t.
The woman he liked was Sophie: vibrant and spirited, occasionally mischievous, occasionally headstrong, occasionally arrogant, and occasionally clever.
"Edward, thanks."
Thomas Shannon hung up and walked toward the bedroom.
Perhaps he had been too rough with her earlier. Sophie Sullivan had fallen into a deep sleep, oblivious to everything around her.
He recalled what she had said today: They were over...
Over? Impossible!
He wouldn’t let that happen.
His gaze fell on her mobile phone lying on the bed. Thomas Shannon picked it up.
This phone was her link to the outside world, her means of escape.
Without her phone, she’d be like a bird with clipped wings...never able to fly from his grasp again.
Thomas Shannon gently caressed her face, then lowered his head and brushed a light kiss across her slightly swollen, red lips. "Rest well."
He rose and left the bedroom.
When Sophie Sullivan awoke, her body ached unbearably. She slowly sat up, her first instinct to search for her phone.
I have to get out of here! Get away from Thomas Shannon, that beast!
"My phone... where’s my phone..." Sophie Sullivan muttered, searching under the pillow. Not finding it, she threw back the thin quilt and searched high and low, checking every corner of the bedroom.
Her phone was gone without a trace!
The only explanation was that Thomas Shannon had taken it.
At this thought, Sophie Sullivan clutched her head in her hands, gritting her teeth. "Damn you, Thomas Shannon..."
Leo had sent Derek Clark’s number to her phone, but she hadn’t memorized it. Without her phone, she had no way to contact Derek Clark.
「12:00 a.m.」
Thomas Shannon, engrossed in work in the study, glanced at the time. Sophie had slept for several hours and missed dinner; she must be hungry by now. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
He closed the file and rose to leave the study.
Reaching the bedroom door, he paused and instructed Charlie River, "Have the servants heat up the midnight snack and bring it up later."
"Yes, Young Master."
Charlie River turned and went downstairs.
Thomas Shannon pushed open the bedroom door. The room was dark; not a single lamp was lit.
By the light filtering in from the corridor, Thomas Shannon saw Sophie Sullivan sitting on the bed.
She was hugging herself tightly, her head buried in her knees.
