Pampered by My Secret Husband-Chapter 641 - 644: It’s enough that I protect you, understand?
"Tell your little followers to disperse."
Sophie Sullivan’s lips tightened, the fire in her eyes burning brighter. "They’re here to protect me."
"’Fennie.’ Thomas Shannon’s voice was low, his eyes narrowed dangerously. ’My protection is all you need, understand?’"
He would protect her? This was probably the most ridiculous joke Sophie had heard all year. He would protect her? If he truly intended to protect her, he wouldn’t have allowed Raina Bell to torment her. He wouldn’t have let her be nearly strangled to death by Raina, and he certainly wouldn’t have let Minimus Hart continually trip her up from the shadows, making her miserable. This time, he’d even allowed Old Mr. Standford to get into trouble again. All these incidents, one after another—there wasn’t a single thing he’d handled well. His so-called "protection" was likely just empty words. If she took him seriously, she’d be more than just naive—she’d be a fool. Trust Thomas Shannon? She’d rather trust herself!
As Thomas Shannon’s handsome, almost stern, face slowly approached her, his low voice, containing a hint of danger, said, "Your expression seems to say that you don’t trust me."
"Congratulations, your eyes are working properly."
"’HEH.’ Thomas Shannon chuckled lightly, giving her red lips a light peck. ’We’ll talk about this when we get back.’"
Just as Sophie was about to be taken away by Thomas Shannon, Derek Clark called out to her, "Miss Cecilia Branford..."
Sophie stopped in her tracks. She turned her head and looked at Derek’s worried face. "Derek, you guys go back first."
"But Miss Cecilia Branford, what if he hurts you?" Ultimately, Derek still didn’t trust Thomas Shannon.
This man was too dangerous.
Wealth that could rival a country and a formidable background had bred an arrogance in him that ordinary people could not match.
A single misstep could provoke him.
And the consequences of provoking him were unimaginable.
Derek worried that Sophie, being stubborn herself, would sooner or later suffer at Thomas Shannon’s hands.
If they didn’t accompany her, and Thomas Shannon bullied her, how could she save herself?
Thomas Shannon’s pitch-black irises shimmered with a sharp, cold light. The corners of his mouth hooked into a swift, menacing smile. "If I really wanted to hurt her, would you even have a chance to see her?"
His woman? When would she ever need others to protect her? What a joke!
Sophie’s head was throbbing. She raised her hand and rubbed her forehead. "Thomas Shannon, shut up!"
Thomas Shannon’s thin lips pressed tightly together. Sophie said to Derek, "Derek, you all go back now. If anything happens, I’ll notify you immediately."
"Miss Cecilia Branford, if His Highness finds out, he’ll be worried about you." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Thinking of Lucifer, Sophie’s eyes dimmed. "I’ll explain it to him personally."
Since it had come to this, Derek could say no more and only nodded silently.
Thomas Shannon put his arm around Sophie’s waist and led her to the black Bentley.
Derek and the guards watched her leave.
Sophie turned her head to look out the car window, not even sparing him a sidelong glance.
Thomas Shannon chuckled softly. He extended a slender index finger, its pad slowly, gently caressing her cheek. "Fennie, Mum said married couples shouldn’t give each other the cold shoulder."
"Thomas Shannon, you’re shameless!" Sophie retorted angrily, turning her head. "What do you mean, *our* Mum?"
Thomas Shannon gave a low, deep chuckle. One hand pinched her cheek, tugging it outward with playful malice. "Done with the amnesia game now? I was half expecting you to tell me what your mother had to say this time."
