Pampered by My Secret Husband-Chapter 653 - 656: The Relationship That Can’t Be Told
Thomas Shannon opened the bedroom door with one hand. "What is it?"
"Young Master, Mister is looking for you." Charlie River, a mobile phone in his hand, handed it to him.
Thomas Shannon stepped out of the bedroom, closed the door behind him, and walked towards the study room with the mobile phone.
Standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, his handsome face was bathed in a sacred glow from the sunshine outside the window. It was dazzlingly unapproachable.
"Father, you were looking for me?"
"Have you encountered any troubles recently?" James Shannon’s authoritative voice came from the other end of the telephone.
Thomas Shannon turned back to his desk. He picked up a cigarette, put it in his mouth, and reached for his lighter. "What kind of trouble could I possibly encounter?"
"What happened with Frank Mitchell?"
SNAP.
A blue flame leaped from the metal lighter, igniting the cigarette. Thomas Shannon casually put the lighter down. Holding the cigarette, he said, "Father, these are just some trivial matters. There’s no need for you to worry."
He didn’t even take Frank Mitchell seriously. Dealing with him was as easy as turning over his hand.
Just what he did to Sophie Sullivan last time is unforgivable!
James Shannon hesitated for a moment before asking, "I heard you sent people to hunt him down. Is this true?"
"You already knew and still specifically called to ask me for confirmation?" Thomas Shannon took a deep drag on his cigarette. "Where is my mother?"
"Stop changing the subject. Why did you send people to hunt him down?"
James Shannon angrily pressed, "Give me a reason that can convince me."
"Father." Thomas Shannon’s eyebrows furrowed deeply. James Shannon’s unusual reaction made him suspicious. "I sent people after Frank Mitchell for my own reasons. Your particular interest in this is quite surprising."
After a pause, Thomas Shannon continued, "Father, do you and Frank Mitchell have some kind of secret relationship?"
"Nonsense!" James Shannon was furious. "Utter nonsense! What kind of secret relationship could I possibly have with him?"
Thomas Shannon chuckled lightly. "Then why are you so concerned about this matter?"
"Curiosity."
"So, it’s curiosity..." Thomas Shannon drawled, a smirk in his voice. "Well, I’m certainly not going to tell you."
"Thomas Shannon, you little..."
"Mr. James Shannon, watch your words. Be careful, or I’ll report you to Mrs. Shannon."
James Shannon angrily hung up the telephone. Thomas Shannon chuckled, flicked the cigarette ash away, and handed the mobile phone to Charlie River.
He pondered for the time it took to finish one cigarette, then said to Charlie River, "Go investigate Frank Mitchell’s background."
"Young Master, is there anything suspicious about Frank Mitchell?"
Thomas Shannon shook his head. Frank Mitchell wasn’t suspicious. His father, however, was somewhat suspicious.
James Shannon had already stepped down, so his interest in Frank Mitchell’s affairs was rather unexpected.
It surprised him.
The only thing he could think of was that Frank Mitchell and his father had some unspeakable ties.
If that was really the case...
Thomas Shannon’s gaze turned sinister. He couldn’t guarantee what he might do.
「Sophie slept until she woke naturally.」
Sophie Sullivan opened her eyes, feeling content. The space beside her in bed was empty; Thomas Shannon was already gone.
She slowly sat up, brushed her long hair back over her shoulders, and then stretched her arms wide with a deep, satisfying stretch.
The bedroom door opened, and Thomas Shannon, wearing a sleep gown, stood in the doorway. His tall figure leaned casually against the doorframe.
A faint smile touched the corner of his mouth, his eyebrows slightly raised. "Awake?"
Sophie Sullivan paused in her stretch, looking at him with puzzlement. "Where did you go so early in the morning?"
"I answered a telephone call."
"Whose call was it?"
Sophie inwardly swore that she had only asked out of casual curiosity.
